  1. Now at first I didn't want anything to do with her cause she freaked me out but she isn't that bad. Granted, this could just be me being influenced by the thought of having an attractive female cook me well made food every now and then. I figure I might as well hold onto this for as long as possible, right? If things get too weird, I'll cut it off. She seems kind of bipolar.

You're as nuts as she is. Enjoy your new life as a Moonie.

  2. that is being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The other dude was beat up with bats...pretty clearly premeditated. Hence, he did something stupid, and he got beat the fuck up. Shouldn't he be accountable for his own actions? I think when guys are actively looking for you, specifically, in order to beat your ass, it's most likely because of something YOU did.

For a board of supposedly hard streetwear dudes, you are all very soft, and that's pathetic.

GRR says tiny little ballerina batman.

  3. Let's get back to the base of this thread...

2 dudes on exterior, very nice. Center fellow trying to look hard like Bane. Must've been awful hot in that coat considering the weather. Scarf looks like dudu toilet paper that is sticking out the back of his pants. I should take up smoking so i get reblogged.

Look at this czar of twinks. Where's a Bolshevik uprising when you need it.

  4. I know I'm new here but the term "brand synergy" sounds to me just like another stupid internet meme, if the fit is good it's good; sure we have some preconceived idea about a certain brands/designers, but I respect a dude/girl who can put together a good fit with whatever brands of clothes and I thought Baizilla's fit was dope.

it's not as stupid as it sounds: would you wear a UC coat over an o'neil t-shirt and jeans? the point of the concept is obvious when over-exaggerated, but recognizing more subtle instances of this phenoemenon is what separates average from ballin'

Yeah I understand the general concept. I'm just saying that if I see a good fit as it is, then the selection of brands that he/she puts together would not matter to me.I wouldn't do it but if a dude can put uc, o'neil and whatever other brands together and still looks good then bravo, brand synergy wouldn't matter to me.

Don't be such a goddamn baby. The appropriate answer to someone who tries to talk to you seriously about their how their clothes match their other clothes and spells phenomenon that way is "go away, moron."

  5. This meanswear thing strikes me as New York fuckery. Yeah it's annoying

    I see you menswear brigade

Where did these people learn to walk!? The guy without socks looks like he should be in a school board reel about glue sniffing.

  6. Yeah, as much of a goof as the Mayweather-Cotto fight is, Alvarez-Mosley sounds good to me. I don't want to overestimate what he has left, but Mosley can be game when people least expect it.

And can people stop shitting on Gamboa for not jumping into a fight with a guy two divisions up from him? I'm sure the fight will still happen, cut the guy some slack.

  7. ^Playing the world's tiniest violin, here.

I've been ragging on this one filmmaker (only a couple of years older than me) for some time to my friends, mostly out of jealousy. We

went to the same middle/high school and her film was just released by my favorite DVD label. I refused to see it for a while, then watched it, didn't really mind it, but said I hated it. When I finished watching it, I found out that she now has something on television as well. Needless to say, it makes me really insecure about my own work, my own career.

I was in this bookstore today when lo and behold I see her there. I don't know what comes over me but I go up to her and introduce myself. Turns out she remembers me and we have a solid 20 minute chat. At the end of our talk, she gives me her email address and tells me to send her my film so that she can give me her thoughts. She also said that any time I wanted to ask her questions about the industry, she was available. Basically, she couldn't have been nicer.

I really feel bad about all that I said before. Here I was, thinking she was my rival, and she treated me like a peer. This whole interaction made me rethink the ways in which I get insecure and how more than anything they block me from taking risks (something this girl has clearly done).

I don't think you should beat yourself up about this. Yeah it was childish and petty but you know that and so does everyone else that acts that way, especially in creative fields where everyone's fighting over a small window of opportunity. I'm sure this girl acted the same way before her flick got distribution and she knows people are talking that way about her now. If we were all mature and socially adjusted we would be doing something else for a living, right?

(By the way, is it Lena Dunham?)

Edit: Seriously, can we not get some fucking capitalization in here?

  8. Hey guys, I'm looking to build a floor to ceiling bookcase unit for my new apartment. I'm hoping to try a more traditional shape for the shelving units because I find the cube bookcases that have become popular (and are what mostly seem to be available at cheap furniture stores) are pretty nonfunctional if you are someone who is always taking books down and moving things around. I would place my skill at these types of projects as above danger-to-others but still below danger-to-myself. If any of you have sites or video series you find particularly helpful when educating yourself about a new type of project, I'd be much obliged.

  9. the past two days discussion makes me realize the parallells between this forum and some of the other special interest forums I'm a member of.

    for example,

Usually when someone begins a conversation with this I imagine them getting hit by a bus you didn't even know was coming like in the movies and the horn goes "BWWWWWWWWOOOONNNNKK" and they're just gone and you're free.
