a little dish soap and an old tooth brush work very well. the ones that advertise "tough on grease" work best.

thanks! I think the arch ease is not quite as pronounced but still quite comfortable and supportive. I have spent all day on my feet in them with no soreness or fatigue. I have whites on the semi-dress and the swing last all in a size, 8D. I can wear the oxfords/derbies comfortably with thin to mid-weight socks, the boots are most comfortable with heavy to mid-weight socks. as summer shoes they are perfect, really looking forward to next spring.
full specs btw are
retro oxford
natural cxl
brass eyes
double midsole
heel lowered 1/4"
close trim

Makes sense, and looks good!
Is the arch ease any less with the shoe on this last?
I read one review I think that suggested they size bigger than the regular Whites lasts, was that your experience?
Please post some more pics! A top down would be great and a side profile would be great if you have time ;-)
no problem

Agreed (although as an Englishman I'd prefer they were termed 'derbys'!) - and I really like these. The '54' shoe last looks great. In other images I haven't been too convinced but these are fantastic.
At first glance I thought the quarters were a different leather, giving a pretty cool two tone effect - I realise they aren't of course.
Your eyes are correct, for whatever reason the counters are a darker natural cxl than the toe vamps, my hunch is the lasting stretched the leather and being of the pull up variety the vamps became lighter.
should also mention that i requested these without the toe reinforcement which resulted in a lower profile toe.

boys how did you size on your nicks?
I sized my oxfords the same as my white's. Nick's has several lasts so ymmv

I purchased a pair of Baker's oxfords made by nicks as my summer factory shoe and yes they are heavy even with the vibram 2021 sole, but they are incredibly well made, the leather is tough as hell especially since i ordered it rough out. I work in a sheet metal shop, sharp metal and leather don't mix but the rough out has handled it like a champ. On top of that they are the most comfortable shoes I own. I ordered a pair of wesco custom jh oxfords to rotate, (the hot Texas summers keep me from wearing the same pair daily) and they are comfortable and well made but I look forward to Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays when i can where my nicks. I will most likely order a pair of boots for the winter months.

Yeah that's how it works, but in Garden's case it wasn't even stitched to the mid-sole.

in manufacturing you have 3 real objectives, speed, value, and quality. We like to tell our customers choose 2. If we can hit all 3 it's a win for everyone but real world problems make this a rarity. we can see this hold true with our footwear brands where speed and value come at the slight expensive of quality or speed and quality come at the expense of value etc.

Got them over the weekend. Great jeans! I've recently lost some weight and these are fitting pretty baggy on me, like late 90's style baggy. I'll post up some pics later on. I'm game for wearing them the rest of the week but will most likely pass them on a little early.
thanks Bradl!

to a certain extent i feel ya, i'm neither a hunter nor a gun owner but I do eat meat and I do wear leather so it's kinda hard to judge that.

^ How can you refuse a handjob?!
I'm pretty sure that's still not legal in TX. The times are a changing though.

Pretty sure themexican is over in San Marcos, which hasn't been a part of Mexico since 1836.
Silly Englishman.
EDIT: OK, he's in New Braunfels. Close enough...
I can verify that i am in New Braunfels. HoustonChris if you are indeed in Houston I'd be happy to hand deliver. I'm always looking for an excuse to head to Houston.

^ so many options... wish the site was more interactive like NIKE ID
this is close to it. you just have to imagine an oxford instead of a boot.

^ Those look great. Thanks for the link.

These, $100 less you can get natural cxl in any configuration you want. Picture is of the lace to toe option but i got the plain toe and I love them. They fit very well (went 1/2 size down from measured). These are true work shoes heavy duty and built to last.

Got a chance to stop by Self Edge in San Fransicso and Portland while on vacation the last couple weeks and just wanted to say thanks to the great staff you have. Both gentlemen were friendly, and very helpful. As an online customer since 2008 it was a true joy to finally see the stores and see the quality of your merchandise first hand, plus talk to your staff in person. I picked up some socks while in Portland and just recieved the Sugarcane Navy Nep shirt I was able to try on. I may have passed on it had I not had the oppertunity to see it in person, such a great fabric.
Thanks again for your help over the years!

anybody with a good aged pair of Red Wing Pecos? Not the Western, the normal heel ones???
And some sizing advice? How is the last? Narrow, normal, wide?
Greatly appreciated.
They run narrow and more true to size than their work boots, i have an eight in both the beckman's and the pecos and the pecos feel a half size smaller.

I've used it and it works pretty well. I use on my dress shoes, lays a great foundation for polish waxes. really great shine and results. I don't use it on my work boots so can't speak to that.
