Well whatever that's their business. Why be so obnoxious about everything though? All the crusts I've ever met have been overly eager to prove their "fuck-you"-ness citing "I don't give a fuck" every five seconds in defense of it. If you don't give a fuck why are you bothering in the first place?

Edit: this is why I prefer to listen to "proto punk" more than actual punk.

Even crust punk is like fourth or fifth wave punk. I think it sounds and looks terrible. It's that uber political American hardcore type punk.

My wife was telling me that a few days ago in St. Marks, one of her co-workers was standing outside a McDonald's, waiting for her friend. She had some tacos in her hand and a couple of crusts/gutter punks walked by and one of them snatched the tacos out of her hand. When she said something, the guy said well, you were just holding them out in front of you like you were giving them to me, so I took them. She just let it go at that because she wasn't gonna eat them after he'd had his grubby hands on them. I worked with this girl who, at the peak of a New York summer, did not wear socks under her Vans slip-ons. I sat at a desk, and she stood close by doing some standing work, and I could smell her feet from five or six feet away. The stench from the shit growing on her feet and in her shoes had permeated every fiber of her stank ass shoes and it made me gag. Unless you have amazing genetics, for the love of god, wear some socks. My current roommate doesn't wear socks underneath his shoes either and when he takes his shoes off, his feet stink badly, leaving behind prints of stink all over the apartment floor.

I learned this lesson in high school when I used to skate with no socks under my shoes and had the stinkiest feet I've ever had in my life.

We're not anymore egoistic than past generations. We just have - unfortunately - more ways of expressing that.

It's not nostalgia perverting my view either. I'm pretty certain I'm not gonna look back and think, wow, the 00s were such a great time! The only good things to come out of the 80s were those making statements lambasting them or going completely against the grain. Think American Psycho or the Pixies. What like that is going on now? Have to think hard ... but they'll be evident soon enough and celebrated.
