  1. an hour hike at dawn, two hours casting not a single fish, so i returned to camp and a hungry girlfriend. we decided to take to the kayaks but i just had to make a few extra casts.

tying to teach the dog a surgeons knot but her attention was elsewhere

there was something bigger much bigger than her out here this morning

last cast before i smacked myself in the back of the head with the fly and called it a day. the wind was messing up my hairdo, and i was worried about snagging one of my big ears with every cast.

  2. I wouldn't say service boots are sleek, but they're definitely less bulky than similar models that I've handled... especially my bounty hunters (although they do have a steel toe). To be honest, I thought they'd be more bulky than they are.

This is a great opportunity to see a few side by side comparison photos. I would love to see them, and I am sure others would greatly appreciate it as well.... if you have the time and are willing

  3. On an unrelated note, how do you like your RRL boots? They look badass, I'm keeping my eye out for when they finally go on sale.

His boots are not made anymore, they are the Julien Emrie made version. The current RRL engineers are made by Murdock and are quite different. You may be able to find your size on ebay.

  4. That's funny because i think the exact opposite. I think chunky or large boots look ridiculous with small leg openings or tapered jeans but look great with a jean with zero taper or a traditional straight leg.

This is exactly what I was thinking this morning when I read it. Are people getting the impression that these are sleek low profile boots? I cannot imagine boots on this build looking proportionate with tapered pants (although I believe I have seen a photo of Brett Viberg giving it a shot). The other last that was used for the service boots would be a much better choice if you wear skinny jeans. But then again, things have been looking mighty strangely disproportionate around here for some time.

  7. I am wondering if the huge amount of heel slippage that I have will go away. I have had slight heel slippage in pull-on boots over the years (which is why I have longed for engineers), but not once did it ever go away completely, just became less once the soles broke in and started to flex.

  8. girlfriend in her 3sixteen+ 1099BSP.

They're over a year old. She doesn't wear them everyday, though

They look great man. I was wondering if you were ever going to post them. I am still wanting to get my lady a pair, but she can't decide on a size. It is pretty funny to be better at buying clothes than a gal.

  9. Question for you engineer owners. Do you get a plunger like sound when you are walking in the boots? I a, guessing it is from the boot not flexing with my foot when I step. It is such a strange fit (as has been stated by other already) almost too tight to get on, and once on way too much heel slip. I have thought about adding another hole, but I don't know if this will improve the fit. My other pull ons, engineers and western boots are much looser at the ankle, but little heel slippage.

After so much hustling to get the funds for a pair in my size, I am not sure if I will keep them.

  10. That's right, you're two months behind. Lot to make up for.

Nice haircut! What did you do with the leftover bits?

Oh you mean these bits? Removed for the before I was in a friends wedding, and donated to Locks of Love. It was my 3rd donation and last. My hair was so unfamiliar with the lack of weight that it was everywhere. The gals convinced me to use product to tame

  12. ok folks, sorry for my lack of participation these first two months, please don't hold it against me. i really love the feel of these jeans, and the cut is amazing although i could have used one size down and a few inches more inseam. i am really digging everyone's contribution so far, i hope we all can keep it up. their are some really good posters here, but i feel like i just might have a chance at winning this things, but to be honest i feel as though i have already won just by getting the chance to participate and wear a pair of these jeans. the inclusion is enough of a prize. keep up the good work and lets have some fun. thanks to those for setting this up, and roy for his skilled hands and design.

  13. Well obviously I'm in. I've been lusting after a 6" custom smoke jumper in natural cxl for ages now.

You were in my mind as one of the fellas when i spoke to him.

I actually prefer White's distressed smooth leather to natural chromexcel. These worn in pairs look fantastic:

I have been seeing those on Japanese site for a while, and I thouhgt they were natural chromexcel. Figured it was just something else that was offered there but not allowed here.

kyle, is there any chance the nomad will be available in the brown dress leather? thanks.

I was wondering this exact same thing. I love my Semi Dress and think that it would work perfectly on an engineer.

  14. I am selling a personal pair of White's/Hathorn oxfords in a size 9 D - they are Natural chrome excel leather,

Oh I see how it is, the natural chromexcel is a Kyle exclusive!

I called and talked to someone (not Kyle) at Bakershoe a couple of months ago asking about natural chromexcel as well as the new engineers. was told basically that White's would need a decent size order to consider allowing it, and i suggested that I knew a couple of guys who would not take much convincing to get on board with a preorder, and if I announced the possibility of it on a forum or two, general interest would grow, possibly enough to fill the order White;s would need. I was told to get a hold of Kyle

  15. Are these the new "narrower" versions? Have the measurements been updated to reflect the changes?

I see all the size are available again.

from christian to me when asked about fit difference

"nothing dramatic on the changes but I just checked the specs on the 32 and they are an inch narrower in the knee and and 6/8 on the thigh on the round, not flat measurements. thanks, Christian"
