  1. ^ check time out, resident advisor, ex berliner, zitty berlin...

Oh gg and my California weather. Is it going to be snowing/raining too? How bad can things get?

well last January it started snowing and there was melted snow on the side of the road for 3 months. we had a week with -10 the whole week i think. it's not that bad if you wear proper clothes

  2. Anybody riding through the winter? I'm hoping to keep commuting. Need to get some warmer clothes and mudguards

I am still commuting to work although it's getting a bit chilly outside (0-5°C). I recently bought a Gore Bike Wear Tool Softshell and I'm fine with a merino base layer (a must, cotton will kill you), some Endura Humvee pants, Pearl Izumi gloves + normal sneakers.

On another note, I got this frame for pretty much nothing back in early November (75€ shipped) and decided to make myself a single speed to see how hard it would be with a recent road frame and if I could manage to stay under the 250€ barrier. I collected bargains here and here, emptied my drawers and bought a couple of things new and here is the result:

  3. I unfortunately have to sell this pair of Rick Owens sneakers, they do fit me but I do have some unexpected expenses frown.gif

They are in a great state, with a new professionaly installed sole and no damage to the leather. The only visible damage is around the heel where the two parts of the soles are stapled, this is normal wear on any pair of RO sneakers.

Bought in London, those are obviously originals although I couldn't tell you exactly from which collection.

    Measurements:
    Outsole length: 30,8 cm
    Outsole width: 10 cm

    450€ OBO
    Shipping inside Europe: +10€
    Shipping worldwide (US, Asia): +20€

I accept Paypal (as gift) and Bitcoins/Litecoins

  4. Damn ...

Do you have a picture of the Jeep ?

I don't think I ever posted a picture of my E39 523i. I wanted to modifiy the exterior a bit but decided against it because I don't have a garage and I don't think I will keep it for too long. I live in a big city and bicycle everywhere, I have to park it in the street in a rather busy area and when I use it for long trips once in a while it's not really more profitable compared to simply renting a car...

  5. Well I only use my bike for commuting (+ riding at this empty airport next to where I live sometimes) and my favorite position is with my hands straight on the bar, when I'm on the hoods I have to flex my neck which makes me feel less comfortable and reduces my lateral visibility. I agree on straightbars/bullhorns looking a bit off on road bikes though.

  6. It's got mostly Campy Xenon equipment except for the brakes, cassette and hubs which are from Miche Performance (and aren't bad at all). I have a straight handlebar + horns that I have to adapt to it (I am not satisfied with the visibility while riding on the grips), I will also get a second drink holder because I often ride with 2 beers !

  7. Freecat: LOL, "the guy modeling for Acronym" is the co-founder and designer, Errolson Hugh :).

I knew I was missing something there haha. I feel dumb now, I thought they were 2 different guys !

  8.

anyone has any experiences with this watch? worth the 150usd for it? also i realised there're quite a few parnis sellers around, are the quality of the parnis watches standardized among the different resellers?

I had one and it was surprinsingly decent, was keeping time ok and all. But I now have a Sinn and wouldn't want to wear it again.

  9. Because it's not like the film is concerned with "people dying" from disease or starvation. I think you're all too aware that genocide has happened in just about every region of the world. I'm not claiming to be morally superior to these people, I'm just saying that for me personally it was difficult to watch, which I'm sure was the point.

My main criticism of the film is that a lot of the more shocking scenes feel exploitative and kind of insensitive. I think you've read my honest gut reaction to a movie and mistaken it for my deeply held convictions about race or something.

I agree with you on this. I understood that it wasn't the point of the movie to denunciate war crimes but I have the feeling that it fired back a bit during the movie while at times the lack of involvment could be interpretated as acceptation. Concerning my comment, I mistaken your formulation for ignorance. Sorry.

  10. I'm selling my Peugeot because I got a good deal on a recent Campagnolo equipped Botecchia (pictures once I replace the silly handlebar and cover the ridiculous tribal style writings on it).

  11. Of course life doesn't have the same value everywhere in the world. People dying in poorer regions of the world is more common for a lot of reasons.

I can't believe that there are still parts of the world where genocide is talked about with such a nonchalant attitude (and not just by the fascist paramilitary guys, it seemed like everyone in the film was pretty cool with it and just brutal human behaviour in general). Honestly could feel myself getting more and more xenophobic as the film wore on.

Man that's hard to read, do you really want to show off to people how undereducated you are ?

  12. I walked past the guy modeling for Acronym yesterday (for the 2nd time since I live in Berlin). He was wearing the black blazer with one of the most recent bag and Nike Flyknit.

  13. Paris would be a good idea but keep in mind that rent is really high. Barcelona is great unless you want to find a job and live there, as there isn't that many jobs (more than in most of spain though) and living costs are high.

I live in Berlin and can tell that it's a great city, the quality of life is high, it's very central, loads of things to do. The thing is that Summer will soon be over and winters are COLD.

    Why not London ?

  14. hancholo, you're right about the state of most 944s, I should consider this a lot more than I previously thought. My E39's previous owner was an obsessed mechanic who took very well care of it. Trading this trouble-free car for a badly made choice based on sole appreciation for the feeling of an old Porsche might be a bad idea.
