Yes there is a watch thread on the main Sufu page, but I like to think we keep it more interesting as denimheads (at least, in wearing watches with denim based outfits)...So what do you wear? Vintage? Divers? Field watches? All are welcome here, from quartz to automatic; What's on your wrist?
My top daily wearer this year, the Grand Seiko SBGX117 9F quartz diver (the only no date diver by GS, and probably the last quartz diver for a while as it wasn't the most popular); 50 year service interval and +/- 10 seconds A YEAR. Haters gonna hate, but I'm Team GS FOR LIFE.18 -
^Funny enough, I usually only feel my knees if I put on the White's after wearing sneakers for a while; Definitely more strain from the actual weight of the boots, but then my Vans do well with my foot structure. Can't say the same for any/all Converse I've owned over the years unfortunately...
Not disputing the craftsmanship, tradition, quality materials, etc. of boots of course, but I'm finding comfort is king, the older I get, and you just don't have as much flexibility and lightfootedness wearing boots (the "Can I Karate kick wearing these" test) :/
@Flash, perhaps I need to make a "Watches we wear with our jeans" thread...The Watches thread on the main forum is alright, but I think there's more traction here, and the denim lifestyle leanings would be more interesting to me personally (vintage, etc.etc.)

After almost a decade straight of White's boots and Alden's, 2017 was the year of the sneaker for me. I forgot how comfortable shoes can be I even bought another apir of Lace to toe Smokejumpers with lug soles for the winter, but damn, they feel like bricks to me now. Anyway, typical mall bought black Vans for me (gasp!); Pretty much the view I saw all year anytime I looked down:

I'm lacking in fit pictures! They've definitely slimmed up a bit though after my countless washes (wouldn't be surprised if I'm over 20+ at this point but I don't track and that may be an exaggeration), and even the rise has settled comfortably for me to where I don't need suspenders after all. Either way, I think Uncle Karl may be the coolest dude ever, so glad we have all the new competitors on board and posting on sufu (at least Uncle Karl is!)

As well watched The Last Jedi and will say no more.... :/

Great updates everyone!
Also just want to appreciate how far we've come technologically with the news that @Uncle Karl is using Google translate. Might not be as obvious for non-Japanese readers, but it's such a huge advance in accuracy and nuance that didn't exist in even the past two years or so, I'm seriously so mind blown. It's not perfect of course, but wow! Makes sense given the release of the Pixel Buds but I hadn't been paying much attention otherwise4 -
@Uncle Karl may I ask what translation tool you're using? It seems to work very well, better than any I've seen before!

@Uncle Karl welcome welcome!
Are you a carpenter? Looking forward to seeing your fades!1 -
^Amazing stuff gnomes, thanks for sharing...Are you doing all the work on your own, or have you used any of the typical genealogy sites to tie things together? I ask because I'd like to do this myself but not really sure where to start.

Warning: Non denim related post coming, but my weekend so far....
Blue watch of choice for #SeikoSaturday (my "other" obsession from denim, watches)
Checked out a new Vietnamese restaurant here in Chicago, Ca Phe Da, which is part of a wave of the "gentrification" of our Pilsen neighborhood. Sorry to say, but I'm all for authentic food being cooked at great levels, by equally enthusiastic, warm and passionate chefs, so bring it on.
Chicken Rice
the mix of the freshest herbs was incredible, yet balanced and not overpoweringThe bahn mi was equally impressive
Of course topped it off with ice coffee....We actually ordered a Chicken Salad (Goi Ga, best dish we had) and Ca Phe Trung (mind blowing egg custard coffee) as well, but my pictures didn't turn out unfortunately. Looking forward to trying their pho, and their "serious" restaurant next door, Hai Sous.

^Who knew! "mono no aware"/"wabi sabi" is universal....I do wonder if this concept was explored in other cultures or by other philosophers as well? For sure, there is a sad/nostalgic beauty in the impermanence of things...

I don't think this needs reiteration, but Sir Paul T, DO NOT SELL YOUR CONTEST ROYS!
Too much sentimental and historical value there, particularly given your involvement. It's my only regret in my denim life, selling off my pair.......
Side note: My pair is developing some really lovely train tracks! It's also hard to keep track of all the great posts on here since it's so active, but that's a good thing!3 -
^It's the tension from the chainstitch on 60's coin pockets!

hoowee...moving along a little too fast but like I said, enjoying the ride! Apologies if the image quality craps out:

Lovely updates everyone!
It seems I can't escape my typical wash routine, so my pair is continually lightening up without any contrast. At least it'll be "authentic fadez" by my standards! This is in sharp contrast with my contest Ooe's, which held on to their indigo like super glue, but I'm enjoying the ride and look forward to how they'll turn out, even if completely washed out by the end of our run!

TCB20's are "novis" as sufu used to say, but they're being worn! Comfy too for all the eats I might add...

Happy Thanksgiving to all the US based contestants!

None here yet, but I was wondering if the arcs would break easier ala Full Count as well...Don't have the jeans in front of me now, but curious to see what threads are used and if different

Damn! That is some nice LED work, though I have no prior knowledge or credentials on the topic. Regardless, your pair will be guaranteed excellent fades. Personally, I'm hoping I get more butt fades than seat scratches what with all the sitting I do all day (Analyst desk job), which is pretty much all I think I'll get with the looser fit.

^Inimitable: I'm probably just slow if you mentioned earlier, but what's your profession? Do I detect a hint of winning due to wearing these doing actual movement?!

Congrats gnomes (on the addition, not the floor!)! And welcome to everyone joining in!
Somewhat unrelated, but since we were talking T Back's before and fit, here's what I'm looking for (bottom row)

Watches and Denim

All amazing watches in this thread! The Seiko link doesn't surprise me; Being in to Japanese denim can easily spread to Japanese watches in a way, especially with the brand's historical significance and technological leaps/patents in timekeeping.
My latest daily wearer is the SBDC053/SPB053, which is a blue modern reinterpretation of the original Seiko diver, the 62MAS. It's definitely too big on me, accentuated by putting it on the bracelet (the collars stick out extra), but I enjoy it nonetheless.
And I had to post this watch eventually, but it's my grail and prized possession, the SBGA031 titanium Spring Drive GS diver:
(denim novis!)
