Good post, Broark, whose denim is he using?

In the Youtube video he mentions that the denim is Ibara, but I've been out of the game too long that I don't know what he's referencing.

This link references Ibara as an association of NIHONMENPU TEXTILE INC., KUROKI CO,.LTD, YOSHIKAWA ORIMONO CO, so it's likely one of them.

Hilariously, at the end the creator of the video writes that that night he realized he forgot to order a pair (but will be back again)

^yo i ordered cheapest nato straps mustard jawns cause i missed the rrl ones.  shit is taking 4ever to get to the USA.  how long did it take 4 u?

Ooof yeah when I did the non-tracking option it took a few weeks. With tracking it was about one week. As far as the ribbed NATO's, they're indeed really good substitutes for the RRL's but without the stitched patch

  3. For me i only can get from ebay which is the items that might overlook by japanese collector ha ha ,but is it fun to watch the biding price fly high at the last few mins ha ha:laugh:

^As I feared, I'm also too cheap/poor to pay eBay prices! I remember it was already getting too expensive for me when jeans like the ones you bought were going for $1000-1500 around five years ago. To see the asking prices of $5000+ these days now is crazy!

  4. Not to blow the spot but where are you all buying your vintage XX's these days? All the good stuff goes to Japan, I'm too lazy to thrift (and I always spot japanese guys beating me to good stuff), and prices are way too high for me to get back into it. Feel free to DM me if you prefer to chat in private :D

  5. As far as nato's go, I'm a fan of UTE (formerly Toxic) which got picked up by the Hodinkee shop. Otherwise I honestly like some of the options from CheapestNATOstraps and Cincy Strap Co. My all time favorite is a strap from an old Techne watch, but mostly because it fits my smaller wrist well with good/small distance in between holes, is stitched and looks amazing beat up.

I love the explorer. Is that a 39 or 36? I'd still love to get a nice 39mm OP black dial.

Indeed, the new 36mm. Great size for my wrist, but the bracelet tapers a bit too strong for my liking.

I would also like to know this.  And is there info on the 03 fit?  I struck out on the 01s!

I get in touch with them via Instagram messages, might take them a couple days to respond but they're usually good about it

  8. Highly considering those WWII Lee's; Anyone have experience with their Lee cuts and sizing? I'm assuming buy the same size I would in a 1001XX, etc?

may i ask how much you copped this for?  i just purchased a 2004 w/ date reference. C444/04m.  it is used so i'm just wondering if i paid a fair price.  thanks.

$1600 after VAT was removed, but that's inclusive of getting hit with around $100 in customs fees unfortunately...That said, I recall seeing used ones going for around $1400 if memory serves correct

  10. I haven't been keeping up with these...Man that pair on the far left is graily for me (and honestly, those 1922's had me jaw dropping)

  11. Sorry to hear! Outside of the bezel issue (which I take to be a big issue personally) it seems good based on your findings. Shame it turned out that way!

On my end I picked up a Synchron Military as they had a few orders cancel last week, opening up some slots. Have to say I enjoy it a bit more than my Doxa Sub 300, which didn't quite live up to it's price. While the Synchron is thicker (mind you, I haven't handled thicker Doxa's like the Sub 300T, etc.), I still find it enjoyable on the wrist. Looking forward to taking this into the water.

  12. Just pre-ordered a pair as well, I was totally out of the loop and didn't realize S&S was getting them after all. E-mail Standard & Strange and they just might have a pair in your size left to claim! Super excited for these, probably the best looking denim this decade

Why was it necessary to get both? I guess the fact that you can wear them and still sell them for more than retail was part of it?

I'm afraid my rationalization is entirely idiosyncratic and won't make sense to anyone else :D

To put it simply, the Submariner is my favorite watch, and I've always wanted both a date and non date iteration. I do intend to keep both and have no interest in selling!

Lovely. I've been searching for a 39mm OP black stick for a couple of months, but the Rolex market is so screwy right now. I've decided to wait for the madness to calm down (if it ever does). I got a PAM 915 instead. But I do love that OP black dial. So simple and beautiful.

I feel you, the 39's were such a sweet spot for most, it's a shame they got rid of it (even if the new 41's fit fairly similarly). Good stuff with the PAM though!

Really like the look of the OP aho, I’ve been enjoying my Sub quite a lot and wearing it daily.
I don’t know if I’ll ever dip my toes into Rolex again though, at least not in the current market. It’s bonkers. I would like to get a rhodium dial/white gold jubilee bracelet DateJust one day. I’ve been looking at Grand Seiko a lot lately too.

Good thing is you don't really need anything else with that Sub as a daily :D

I wish I had the wrists for GS, but ultimately I had to move on since the sizing just didn't work out for me. At this point I'm looking at the 34-38mm max range and there aren't too many GS options within that. Owned the SBGR053 which was a black sunray 37mm, but was a bit too thick and no screw down crown so I passed it on
