In other news, I wonder if this vintage Victorian knit is anything related to the Athletic reference from before?

^What an eagle eye spot that was @Broark! Maybe sweats or something along those lines? Also curious what denim they're cooking up (their latest two posts on IG) which look more or less like traditional 5 pocket jeans. My Barnstormers were just sent out a couple days ago. Sucks as I paid for them way early on in August, not the best service I've had from a JPN retailer to say the least (I think he forgot my pair were sitting around to be hemmed; he even asked if I paid already lol). 

Nothing earth shattering overall (denim on denim with white tee) but my dude's fit here really resonated with me lately

They are so obviously 100000% not vintage '47-52 Levis. Everything from the fabric to the threads to the pocket shapes to the selvage ID is a dead giveaway. Not being an ass but definitely put some time in looking at actual vintage (check out Marvin's, Berberjin, The 501XX Reference book, etc.) and it'll be more evident with experience/time. Someone had a good time with an old pair of LVC, but that's all they are.

Really impressive to see how far WH has come along in the past few years.

Random anecdote, but I remember seeing a test pair of Valencia's at the Alameda, thrifting a few years back. Should've picked them up, I think they were asking $100 for them at the time

Been an interesting past few weeks combing through the bay. To pour salt on the wound, there are plenty of vintage 501XX's coming out of Japan these days at Japanese prices (and then some). At this point I think I'm just going to have to fly to Marvin's or Palms once Japan opens up and see what decent pricing I can get on more worn out examples, and what tax exemption I can get with my Passport. I'm very interested in a '46 model however, so it'll be tough.

I'm down the rabbit hole of Japanese denim YouTube and found this was a fun flashback through a few WH pairs I owned or lusted after over the past 15 years:
 

He basically doesn't remember when he bought most of them, but he did get a few from the New Year's Lucky Bag's over time. Those Copper King's bring back memories! Some non-WH pairs as well towards the end (SDA, Denime, Kojima Jeans)

Having not worn denim in probably over a year, I'm effectively completely out of the running contest wise. That said, it's good to be back in a place where I can wear denim comfortably again from both a fit and temperature standpoint. Just remembering how much I love the high rise on these!

Maybe I'll catch up in a few more years, but great job so far everyone!

In the Youtube video he mentions that the denim is Ibara, but I've been out of the game too long that I don't know what he's referencing. 

This link references Ibara as an association of NIHONMENPU TEXTILE INC., KUROKI CO,.LTD, YOSHIKAWA ORIMONO CO, so it's likely one of them.

Hilariously, at the end the creator of the video writes that that night he realized he forgot to order a pair (but will be back again)
