  6. I might try a Saphir for the shades of brown. But I've been sticking with Kiwi for many years, no prob with dryness. It's a kind of nostalgic thing with me, related to about a decade in the military. I actually like Kiwi's harsh and synthetic odor. It reminds of me of the smells I associate fondly with the military, freshly cut grass on drill fields, diesel exhaust fumes, Zippo lighter fluid, howitzer gunpowder, Brasso, and floor wax. Kiwi goes right along with these!

I use a mostly milk-chocolate coulour cream and sometimes a dark tan wax on my indies.

It isnt until fairly recent Kiwi started adding alcohol and preservaties in their waxes, i guess it doesnt do much harm atleast not on short-term period but why risk adding something to your shoes that eventually will dry them out when they cost 300-500 usd. In Stockholm most high end cobblers stopped selling kiwi.

The smell of Saphir is very strong altough very different from kiwi.

  7. ^The creasing problem - was told to me by C&J staff, and then I tried it to see what would happen, and noticed it myself on my Cliffords of all things! Not a big deal and it is reversible to some extent:

The creasing is from wax-based polish of neutral tone. I haven't looked very closely to see what is going on, but I've noticed that in the bends of the shoe, the polish will form little creases. They look like tiny striations in the same direction as the grain of the leather, alternating light and dark. When you look at the shoes from eye level, it looks like the leather's creases and concavities are lighter than the surrounding color.

Polish with color doesn't do this. I suspect that it's because it has dye, which fills in the little striations in the leather better than wax, which is about all you have with neutral polish.

As soon as you apply even tan polish, the creasing problem goes away...

To me that actually happens when i use any colour that is significant lighter than the leather. I use Saphir vax or creams and when i used their light tan on the indies the creasings got lighter, same as with using a neutral wax. Maybe it is different with Kiwi, i am however not so keen on using Kiwi since they use alcohol and preservatives

    in their waxes.

  8. You should go by the chart on the 710xx page. The chart for 710xx on the 710bk page is refering to a older lot of 710xx.

    The bk's have hidden arcs.

    hey guys

    a couple questions

i was looking measurements for s710 on BIG and the measurements for the indigo are provided on two different pages. They are different on the page for the BKs and the page for the indigos (even after accounting for the sizing issue for lot 10). which should i go by?.. i attached a pic for your convenience. and also BKs are the ones with the hiddens arcs, yes?

    thanks in advance

    710.jpg

  9. I have both the Indies and the White's SD is size 10.5 D and the fit is great on both of them. The Indies might be a tad longer but for me the difference in fit isn't noticable. Just out of curiousity, how do the Red Wing GTs fit compared to the Indies and SDs?

I have the gt's in 10,5d but i find them very narrow but they are about the same length as the indies and slightly fuller except for the width.
