  1. knucks, looks like there's some slack on that chain, maybe not. But do you think enamel paint or a paint pen would be better to outline lugs with. I want to do it on my red de bernardi with black outlines..

    PS. sweet saddle.

  2. who the hell told you that

longer skids maybe but the more weight up front the longer its going to take you to stop

    correct.

If u use bullhorn u put more body weight on the front end so u can lockup the rear wheel easier hence quicker stopping.

all of your weight is supposed to be on your saddle. Hence the reason saddles should be parrallel to the ground. I see what you're saying about the higher gear ratio, but if you have a ratio like that, you better as hell be able to stop without skidding for over 20 feet. You should be able to do it above your seat IMO.

Helping you slow down a hell of alot faster. If you lived in a busy area with numerous steep hills and close calls on a regular basis then you would want to have the ability to stop at the drop of a hat too.

yes, but if you have the ability to stop the back wheel, (which you do on a fixed gear), adding a brake on that won't change anything. And actually, a fron brake stops better than a back brake, so locked legs and a front break is easily sufficient for almost all situations.

  4. dude just throw on a rear brake and keep the fixed cog. I ride fixed with both brakes, but I also ride lots of hills so an old shimano 105 brake just wont cut it, haha.

uh, what will throwing a rear brake on help? The problem with fixed gears is you can't coast. Not that you can't stop your back wheel....

120$ ? Stop penny pinching, this shit is NJS son! These basically go for 150$ a piece now. It's a TEE19 team collaboration. The blue TEE19's that came out before this go up to 200$ a piece now. 200$ for those 2 is a deal.

NJS!? OMG!. I know what they are.. I don't care if they are NJS... and there's a reason I said, "..But I only have.."

  5. That's like my dream of doing that because I think it will be like one of those brand spanking new restorations on velospace. However, I think I may put aerospokes on my specialized.

langster? if you really need them, save them for a better frame. At least that's what I would do if I wanted aerospokes.

  6. But you'll also have 4 chains. Chains have to get replaced eventually.. And if you're really pinching for money, do you really need to convert your bike? I mean, one of the main reasons I love fixed gears is because they're cheap when you build one up. No derailer or brakes or cables or cassette or brake levers and such. I can't understand spending money to convert a bike.

I get to work 15 minutes faster than if I rode my purple BMX. The ride is about 10-15 miles and I can easily do that in about 20-25 mins on fixed and about 45 mins on BMX.

    That's 20-25 minutes.. I'm such a smart ass...

  7. :o

Haha, yes. No tape or money for a Kashimax = bandana.

Yeah. 5 dollars for tape to put on your handlebars or TT is outrageous. I'd much rather buy myself some lunch because looks are soo much more important than performance.

What does the TT need protecting from?

the unpadded bars. they look sooo sick though.

    cleaned up my bike.

paint job and changed to drop downs

what's with supreme stickers these days?

  8. Definitely hitting up Trackstar..what's Bike Habitat got to offer? how are their prices?

prices are alright. They have a couple of good components/bars and stuff. They just got a carbon/aluminum gan well frame and built it up. Probably one of the nicest bikes I've seen. They also have a ton of bags too.

  9. Is this the type of hype-beasty thing that kids stand in line for 2 days for? or can I actually buy any of this stuff?

    I want the m65...

I hope not, cause I want the basic hoodie and basic windrunner.

  10. trackstar is your best bet. NYCbikes doesn't deserve to eat. And if you go to Trackstar, you might as well go to Bike Habitat as well (they're close). It's a nice shop, and in the middle of soho, so it's near a lot of shops you might like.
