Meant to buy this over the summer.  Kind of hard to find colors that aren’t black, white, or gray from Phigvel.  Seems like they select a small few shops for the more colorful choices of Tshirts.  From Anemoscope.

How do you rate these tees from Phigvel?

I've come close to pulling the trigger several times, but somehow I haven’t bought one yet

    ^Yes they did, here’s one

They also made Leepro jeans with the same label.

Thank you so much for confirming my suspicion :)

The one you linked to, might actually fit me…

  3. Did Denime at some point produce some 101j Leepro jackets? With a shortened DNM on labels and buttons

Google isn’t giving any useful results, but I remember seeing something like it many years ago

I found one locally and I’m thinking about picking it up, despite it being a little too small, but I could always gift it to a friend

  4. Just received one of the new Denime raglan sweatshirts produced by Warehouse. Always very excited to see raglan sleeves.

It’s very fluffy on the back and it’s very thin which could work well for the coming warmer months

It definitely has a vintage feel - very similar to old 70-80s Healthknit sweats that you could find pretty cheaply on eBay years ago. So I kinda like it, but I’m not blown away by the quality.

Also sizing is a little bigger and longer than most regular Warehouse sweats, but I wouldn’t size down.

  5. I don’t have a lot of actual experience with Jelado, but I like some of their offerings and the price point seems decent in Europe.

I know this is impossible to answer, but how would you rate it in terms of quality compared to say Warehouse, The Real McCoy’s, Buzz Rickson etc etc?

Ordering directly from Warehouse is simple, just fill out the form and they will send you a PayPal invoice. It seems like a lot of stuff is sold out by the time it’s up on their web shop, though. Take-off, Celluloid, Bears, and Hinoya (and probably quite a few more) all ship overseas and are easy to order from, and usually will ship faster than Warehouse too.

Excellent - thanks for the wonderful recommendations. Will definitely check them out

  7. Can anyone share their experience ordering directly from Warehouse with oversea shipping?

Or can you recommend any Japanese shops with a large assortment of sweatshirts and t-shirts?

I usually buy from the European (and UK) stockists, but I’ve already missed out on a couple of pieces that I really wanted. So now I’m considering a bigger combined order directly from Warehouse

20 pairs is insane! do you have the 'wide taper' cut? apparently it was only released just before christmas, but i only found out after making my order for the loose taper. might try it in a year or so.

agreed with short inseam, particularly because i have short legs for my height. getting other repro denim taken up with a proper chainstitch is/was always an expensive pain in the ass.

I think I got my first pairs from Alpha shadows in 2017 or 2018 and has since then been buying a few pairs at a time from Japan, after AS closed its doors. Living in Denmark, our customs system is crazy expensive, so you better order a few pairs to spread the costs.
Hatski became the only jeans that I wear - to compliment other pants and trousers from mainly Orslow (another favourite)

I haven’t seen the wide tapered that you mention. I’ve only seen the wide model, which didn’t seem too interesting considering it’s a fit that many denim brands offer.
I mainly buy the loose tapered and have some “regular tapered” and their “regular” - I think the regular tapered would work the best for most people, but I have very muscular thighs, so I need the loose tapered model to look somewhat normal.

agree on alpha shadows. great shop. they also used to carry boncoura before it was all the (semi-)rage.

Tom was first to introduce a lot of brands to the west from Japan and South Korea.

Way ahead of his time and unfortunately didn’t get the recognition and traction that his shop needed. I think covid was the final spike in the coffin.

  10. Hatski became my go to brand for jeans after getting my first pairs from the now defunct and absolutely brilliant shop Alpha Shadows

I now own around 20 pairs or so - some too worn in/out to wear. I also like their different washes and really miss their overdyed indigo.

I’m around the same height and weight as you and the loose tapered fit suits me amazingly - high rise, loose around seat and thighs and perfectly tapered. Some will probably be a little put off by the short inseam, but I think it works well for me. I’ve always preferred a shorter inseam.

So I consider them some of the best and most interesting jeans around - but I don’t think they’re for everyone :)

  11. Interest check:

I have a pair of S1001xx (ww2-repro / 25th anniversary deadstock denim) in a size 36 - only soaked and worn once. However I got the sizing wrong.

Located in Denmark. Bought recently from the good guys over at Göteborg Manufaktur.

Also have a pair of weird Warehouse jeans with indigo leaf print on the back pockets that could come free with the purchase (will add a little to the postage costs).

  12. I have this project that I'm planning which includes having a pair of jeans custom made because I have this idea for a fit (high rise, regular seat and narrow hem) that nobody seems to make, so I've decided to go custom on this pair.

Basically I'm going to contact as many custom jeans makers, and discuss the project. The one who gets the project will then be featured on my own blog, and a very major denim site - as in really big (or even two major denim blogs). I would really like to feature some of the lesser known makers, and give the opportunity of some good online exposure + I'll of course pay for the jeans too.

SO if any of you guys are interested in taking the job, let me know either via PM or e-mail me at [email protected], and we can discuss the details further. And lastly I haven't been on the market for new jeans in a while, so if you have any ideas for other makers that make custom jeans, let me know, and I'll contact them myself.

  13. Sorry to see that last thread go. It was really a testament of something great. I mean, plenty of you guys have a business (I do too, however it may not be too obvious right here) and still ideas are being shared - I don't see many businesses doing that anywhere.

Anyways, maybe we should all switch to leatherworker or open our own separate forum.

  14. This could be a case of something going wrong in the tanning process or maybe you got a cut near the belly, where the fibres are less dense. Or it could be other things, but the aforementioned would be my guess, although I'm no expert..

Another thing - I would not use Chicago screws to secure the snap. Use something more solid like solid copper rivets.

  15. Sounds like a great source. Just make sure, that the leather has the right firmness...

A tannery that I buy from told me, that they rarely make horsehides, but if they do, they usually turn it into furniture leathers and often tumble it, so it gets really soft and flexible.

  16. Who is your favourite supplier of solid brass belt buckles?

Right now I'm using Abbey in England, but their prices aren't exactly cheap and that makes my belts a whole lot more expensive. And I think many customers aren't exactly aware of, why they're paying more.

  17. Its a great honour, but you flatter me too much hollows! There is still much for me to learn and improve on. And definitely still a long way to the standard set by the top tier Japanese craftsmen!

You really surpass many of the Japanese craftsmen that I have seen. Better start thinking about doing this full time, man.

  18. William, I love you. Every time I check this thread, I'm gobsmacked by the things, that you do. Please keep doing things the right way.

At some point I'll be discarding all of my other garb and only wear Tender. I just not there yet, but some fine day.
