  1. this is a project i have been working on for a bit. i wanted to make a yo-yo with a finite life-span. something that would play, but would not last, that would break down as you enjoyed it. something to play with and appreciate and not worry about how a ding would hurt the resale price.

i decided on making a wax freehand. it took me a few tries(and a few wicked burns) to get them right. they play well, like a light freehand. no response other than the walls of the yoyo and can handle a few layers of string in the gap. after an hour or so of play it really starts to warp, the string get stiff as hell, and the bearing gets caked full of wax. i love every second of it. nice side effect is that they make your hands nice and soft too.

here are a few pics of them.

  2. just picked up a speed graphic and have been shooting polaroids with it. still figuring it out and dialing it in. these are some of my first shots. first two shot handheld and focused through the rangefinder, last one on tripod through ground glass.

  3. kiya, is it possible to take apart the SExFH yoyo? I got an axle knot and tried everything I could to undo it but it wouldn't budge. Is there some advanced yoyo technique to untie it? (sorry for this basic beginners question) Google yielded no results save for inserting thin plates into those holds on either end but I'm sure I'll end up breaking something...

your best bet is to go in the gap with a razor and cut the string. you can pull the halves apart, but in my experience they never go back together just right.

  4. I'm on a rail train enroute to Montréal right now…doesn't look like anyone in this bitch can help me lube and clean my yo-yo.

I'm gonna have to fly to Cleveland.

Oh yeah, study sessions are in effect June and July in prep for NY contest. BE THERE. BOX + SKID 200GREAT.

I think if you send Steve a bearing and a self addressed stamped envelope he’ll hook you up with some grade A cleaning.

Can't wait to get pocket checked and shanked with you at Crocker Amazon.
