I've been wearing my 15oz moleskins a lot, esp. with it being winter (I think it was about 4 degrees celcius - not exactly 3 feet of snow like middle america, but still pretty chilly). Took out my Sams for the first time in a long time. That 19oz denim feels fantastic. Reminded me why I got into denim in the first place.

  2. just to clarify my previous rushed reply:

I wear 9E in Alden - Trubalance and barrie

    8 1/2UK in Trickers (6 fitting - wide)

Stows didn't fit because they only come in 5 fitting.

    9E in white's

I wear my stows in 9.5D and they fit fine. Same with the Maltons. 9E in whites is about 1/4 inch too short. I can wear them, but they pinch a little. 9E in the Trubalance last and 10D in the Aberdeen last (a bit long, but the width is just right - probably would be better with a 9E or 9.5E but there isn't a lot of Aldens available in Aus). I don't know how you can squeeze into a 8.5UK if you can comfortably fit in a 9E in the Indy's. I guess every foot is different. I can fit into a pair of 8.5 Clarks, but am more comfortable in a 9.

  3. Does anyone know how Trickers brogues fit compared to the Alden Truebalance last? If I'm a 10 on the Truebalance, would I need a 9.5 (UK) in the Trickers?
Yeah as long as you don't have wide feet

That trubalance last is weird. Really different to Alden's other lasts (at least to me.)

I own 5 pairs of Trickers and a pair of Fan Indy's. I'm 9E to 9.5D on all my trickers (depending on the last). I'm a 9E on the trubalance last (see?). 10D on AE and other Aldens.

    I'm also a 9.5E on Whites semi.

When the original store I wanted the shirt from fell through, Hide found me another store and ordered from there. Kept me updated the whole time. Excellent service. This must be the last size Large in all of Japan. Cannot recommend him highly enough. Two thumbs up.

  5. My new favorite shirt. That hickory stripe is intense! If I look at it peripherally, the lines undulate! UNDULATE!

    For the curious.

    5'9", 180lbs, TTS 34 waist, Chest 40.5. Size L (Samurai 710 size 33 Lot 10).

  6. I've been saying no more denim for so long, it's lost all meaning to me. I say it after every major purchase and still the addiction takes hold.

I still want that pair of 45rpm Jomons. Dania natural indigos and I too also want the classic Evisu #1 denim. THEN and only then... no more denim. (yeah right). Not sure if you can even get the first two any more.

Probably going to pick up the Evisus in 2011 if that trip to Japan ever gets planned...

  7. Consolidating items from my other threads.

Offers taken for multiple jean purchases only. Sorry, these are really good prices considering the overall condition of the jeans.

    ---

    SC Size 34/34.

Also up for sale is my pair of old SC. I don't know the model and there's nothing written on the label apart from the size. Size 34/34. I can't remember where I bought them. Anyway, they've been washed (the store must have kept them in an attic. It was very musty when they arrived. Hot soak and wash followed. They've been worn to try the size only. I had intentions of wearing them later or just keeping them, but they're taking up room in my closet and they have to go. They're near new.

They have striped pocket bags, Mt Fuji arcuates and Sumo wrestler patch (which you can't see. I don't know what they used as the patch leather, but it went black almost immediately when I washed them. I rubbed some OB on them to prevent further cracking). Pink selvedge and the denim is really smooth. It's definitely 100% cotton (not sugarcane mix), smoother than the denim used on the 47 and I'm guessing heavier. Maybe 13.5 - 14 oz. These jeans have been mentioned before on sufu. I've sewn the tab back on. I can't remember if this was the original tab for it.

  8. Bumping. There is a cheaper shipping option, single pair of jeans overseas = $30. It is registered meaning that the parcel has to be signed for upon receipt, but you can't track it online. If that's an option, give me a pm. I know the sticking point has been the high cost of shipping. 2 pairs can be shipped for $45.

To save on multiple bumps, my SExIH01 sz 36 are also still for sale.

  9. Samurai S0510XX 21oz Size 33 Lot 10.

The infamous Lot 10. Shrinks from tagged size so it did stuff a lot of people up. They fit in the waist for me, but I just can't make that cut work for me. For some reason or another the crotch is wearing out far faster than any other part of the jean. I'm guessing I have the wrong body type or something. I don't bicycle as well, so it's not that. Crotch has been reinforced, handstitched. It's not going to blow any time soon. Worn about 2 dozen times. Washed 4 times.

    Waist:16 (32)

    Rise: 11

    Back rise: 15

    Thigh: 12.75

    Leg opening: 9

    Inseam: 33

    SOLD

Also selling my Et811. Size 34

Original red tab version. The nature of unsanforized denim bought one wash. Originally 32.5 in in waist, but that stretched out to about 34.5 pretty quick. Just washed them again, but the waist will stretch back out after a couple of wears. Worked when I was about 15lbs heavier, but now I can't stand the diaper rear. Worn about 2 dozen times. Washed 4 times.

    Waist: 16.5 (33)

    Rise: 10.5

    Back rise: 15

    Thigh: 12.5

    Leg opening: 8.25

    Inseam: 33

    SOLD

  10. Anyone in Australia will know this. As of th 28th of June 2010, there has been a price rise in all shipped goods including letters (postage stamps are now 60c). So International shipping is now $35 for one pair and $60 for two pairs of jeans. $17 shipping in Australia (registered).

I've also adjusted a few prices. Some have gone down, some (that I really beginning to think about keeping, have gone up).

For sale are some more jeans from my collection that no longer fit.

Sugarcane SC1955 Sz 34/34. I sewed on that Levi's red tag myself. This is one of the first unsanforized jeans I bought. So I made the noob mistake of washing and tumble drying dry jeans without soaking. There are some abrasion marks on the front thighs. I tried to show them the best I could. I've worn these about 2 dozen times and washed about 3 times.

    Waist: 17 (34)

    Front rise: 12

    Back rise: 16.5

    Thigh: 13

    Leg opening: 8.5

    Inseam: 33

    US$100 plus shipping.

Stonghold Flame Denim Sz 32. Bought from Context, these were tagged 32 but actually measured about 36. After soak and wash, the waist only shrank an inch. Sent them to the Stronghold where they modified the jean by taking some material in through the seat seam. Now the waist was a wearable 34 (when I was heavier) but I felt the pockets were too close together to be comfortable wearing a wallet and sitting at the same time. Now they're too big. Worn about a dozen times. 2 machine washes and one ocean wash.

    Waist: 17 (34)

    Rise: 10

    Back rise: 16

    Thigh: 13

    Leg opening: 9

    Inseam: 33

    US$50 plus shipping.

Please note that these are used jeans and have been washed several times. With the prices I'm selling these at and the high cost of shipping involved, there will be no refunds, sorry. Look at the photos and please ask as many questions as you want. I tend to baby my jeans, so they will have very light wear. Some look almost new (but not as stiff).

  11. And... completed.

bast stitches removed and edges hemmed

    IMG_0757.jpg

Then pinned to the jacket. Tried to see if I can manage to make the washing tag stick out.

    IMG_0758.jpg

    IMG_0759.jpg

Then stitched onto the inner lining by hand with every third stitch or so through the denim itself to give it extra strength. I used a navy blue thread that doesn't show on the exterior.

And there you have it. :)

    Fit pics later.

  12. Up for sale are my two pairs of RMW Henleys. One mahogany, one black. They're size 8G (G is D width or normal width for RMWs). The Henley's are basically the craftsman with a slightly shorter and stubbier last. I got these a few years ago when I wanted to wear them with only dress socks as dress boots. Nowadays I only wear boots with full thick woolen socks, so these have to go. I've kept them in very good condition. While in rotation, I used leather conditioner every 6 months and gave them a polish every 2 months. They've been in storage for the past year, but the leather is still in excellent condition. I've given them a quick saddle dressing and polish just last week.

IMO, the new RMWs aren't made with this ultra smooth yearling leather that they used to have. Certainly the Turnouts I handled a few days ago weren't a match to the uppers on these boots.

Fully leather sole. I had the cobbler glue on some topys so that I didn't kill myself on wet pavements.

I normally wear a US9E to 9.5D. These do fit tight on me though. I'd guess they'd be more like a US9D.

The outer sole measurements are 29.5cm long and 11.5cm at the widest point (or 11.6in by 4.5in).

Very sad to see these go. I'll probably have these up for a week or so. After that, I'll send them off to a ebay reseller. Used RMWs are popular in Aus, but I thought I'd put them up here first.

    They're in very good condition, I'd say about 8.5 - 9/ 10 maybe even a 9 for the uppers.

I'm looking for US$150 shipped per pair. I might be able to discount a little for the shipping for both pairs, but to send both together, I may have to purchase a box instead of a satchel bag.

PM me if you're in Aus. I can work out a better price for you.

    Some pics.

  13. A lot of places will glue on a new sole

i haven't had it done, myself, so i can't comment on the durability of a resole

but at $65 it is a hell of a lot cheaper than replacing 'em

Good suggestion, DDML, but there's a reason why no one in Australia resoles Blunnies. I'd pay $65 for a rebuild of leather soled goodyear welted boots, but for a pair of blunnies I picked up at Payless for about $85AUD (US$70)... And that's not even including the shipping to the US.

I'm also looking to see if I can get a pair of Blundstone 062. A bit more expensive than your regular Blunnies. I'm going to be searching around for the perfect replacement boot. Photos of the RMW when they arrive, but in hindsight, I don't want to subject the yearling leather to take the kind of abuse these Blunnies have had.

  14. Blundstone 420. My main motorcycle boot for the past 4 years. Worn the PU sole down to the bottom and now have water seeping in when I walk on puddles. Blunnies are pretty much disposable anyway. I've got a pair of RM Williams Comfort Turnout Craftsman in brown on order and will have them by next week. These will be relegated to garden duty. I'll probably be looking at getting a pair of engineer boots in the future. Thought I'd share some pics before putting them away in the shed.

I'll be posting pics of my RMW when they arrive. :)
