  1. it really seems like there's no good independent hostel in chicago; but consider parthenon in greektown and tell me how you like it... it's kind of out of the way, but i really hate the hostel in the loop.

food... i've heard good things about Mana's on Division if you're not into meat.

  2. What do you guys think about Guild Acoustic guitars? I'm thinking of buying a new acoustic and I am really liking the Guilds from what I've played.. From what i can see they seem to be a bargain being that you can get an all solid wood one made in USA for under $1000. Is there anything better in the price range or no?

PS. I can get a low end Gibson (made in canada) acoustic for $681 with employee discount, am I better off with that or is the quality of the Guilds superior these days?

Not nearly as knowledgeable as anyone on the thread, but i saw a high/er end all-wood acoustic electric seagull (canada made) for as low as 650 w/ the holiday discounts/before tax...

plus minutemen, dead milkmen, adicts, crass, swell maps, melvins, killing joke, pere ubu, klutae, early nin, and ministry for the middle of the night..

...and 80s postpunk, shoegazer, twee and revivals thereof for the daytime: drowning craze, life w/o buildings, blank dogs, crystal stilts, the cure, beat happening ... w/ some dylan & VU. ha.

apparently that^ is what i need for the holidays and i haven't been able to sleep for the past 2 nights...

  4. thanks... :) I have seen the charts but was wondering for personal opinions from those of you who wear them. because I have some jeans which technically should fit well according to measurements, but when worn, they can still too narrow in the hip or too loose on the waist somehow due to the cut x_x

the lindas aren't narrow at all after they stretched... if the hip thing is what you're [worried] about you should be good and if it gaps in the back i don't think it'll be that bad and a belt would look good w/ the lindas anyway...just go down as much as you can go w/o looking stupidtight. :D

  5. oh yeah I came in here to ask a question. :P

I was wondering if anyone can help me with skull lindas. I often have a problem with jeans where, if they fit my hips, they are too loose on my waist. my waist is about 23.5" currently and hips/ass is about 38", do you think these would fit me well? I mean is the waist narrow on them? thanks in advance.

measurements for the Lindas OW/Raw are available on the FabFour/Skull Alchemist website (chart).....and from the skull thread Shinchi seems really helpful when it comes to sizing and orders.

anyway, the jeans fit really well on me but i have WHR of 0.7 and the one washes will stretch to-fit even if you can't button all the way up. i'd definitely try on the lindas and samurai geishas in person before buying. ...BiG in nyc have them both. tbh tho i think you may have the same problem with both, but it all depends on the shape of your ass too (e.g. wider on the sides or out the back :P), i guess.

and i'll agree with the devil.beside.you on kelppt's APC fit. you should return those...they make your ass look terrible.

  6. Cast a blank ballot.

You get to participate in the political process and not vote for anyone. Casting a blank ballot isn't stupid, but not even going to the polls when you're paying attention to the election is a dumber/less rational move on yer part than folks who don't vote b/c they've been apathetic from the start.

  7. I met a girl coming out of the train in Kingston Throop stop and she said she was staying in a hostel in that area. Is this the same one you are referring to? I did not believe it at first, even the 3rd generation Bed-Stuy locals don't know about it.
the hostel i'm thinking of is right off the bedford-nostrand G stop on lafayette and bedford right behind the building the KFC is in. i'll ask ivanna what the name was as i'm sure they have a website.

greene street loftstel...most likely... i've stayed there a few times. might be there friday if i can't find a place to crash. anyone got a couch and isn't too creepy?!

  8. stay away from bose if it's not too late... in 99% of cases there's going to be a much better alternative for your needs for the price...

maybe the one situation where bose is alright for the money: i break tech pretty easily and knowing bose's warranty i went w/ the 99$ ear buds. the pair i have atm are the third or fourth replacement i got for free within the last two years--no questions and they give out new pairs rather than refurbished.

  9. ladies, somet is rarely mentioned for women's denim choice, but i recently got a pair of somet slim black 018's and they fit really nicely. they're the perfect pair of black raw that i've been looking for. got them with black selvage :] don't have any fit pics at the moment, but i wear a sz. 26 in sling and stones and i got 26 (seems to be the smallest available on BiG) which fit well. and i love BiG's service.

Aye, if I could fit into them I'd definitely have bought a pair of somet slims in black a while ago...how do they fit--are they a bit loose at the waist? I'm def going to try them on again athe next time i'm in nyc.

CrissyW, Blue in Green (BiG) is where you can get some Lindas.
