  1. Just got a pair of the white studded hi's the other day, and decided to take a pic comparing the three dbss' I have to let yall get a sense of the height/proportions of it:

    dbssheight1.jpg

    dbssheight2.jpg

Way higher than the distressed hi-tops, but slightly slimmer. It might get a bit shorter once the leather gets more worn in, but probably not too much. btw, all are size 2's and fit pretty much the same. I'm a size 41/42, and I get about a half-inch of space in em, but I wear insoles so they all fit pretty well.

  2. ^ Cool shots. Something similar happened to some 4x5s I was developing. Not sure exactly how I fucked them up, but it works.

Also: I'm thinking of moving up from my current camera (a Minolta X-700), but I still want to stay with film. Any thoughts on that? Been looking at the Nikon N80, but been wondering about the Canon Rebel T2, or any other similarly priced film slr. Is there much of a difference or does it really all depend on which system you're more comfortable with?

  3. Oh please, Naruto is officially overrated.

Wait wait wait. "Just jumping the bandwagon"? I don't know about you, but I stopped following anime regularly about three/four years ago and even then Naruto's been mad played out.

I'm kinda scared to know what you think is "way better shit" when you've just realized now that Naruto's schtick was old even before it started.

Anyways: Aho is right, Hunter x Hunter is dope. One of the better shounens I've read. Haven't read it since the beginning of that bug arc though. No idea where it's at now though.

For other good shounens.. I dunno. Hajime no Ippo is great, even though it's in a different genre. Still targeted for the same audience though so you should give it a try.

Finally caught up to Berserk after not reading it for a few years. Such a ridiculously badass series. Doesn't get old since each chapter comes out a few months after the past one anyhow.

Finished that Kemonozume anime that was mentioned back in this thread. Shit was nice. Animation/style was so good. So was the story. Got kinda rushed/hectic towards the end but didn't mind too much. 13 episode series are always my favorites.

  4. The reason why I ask is because I have a feeling Brooklyn is nothing but a bunch

    of hipsters. And young kids.

Really? Really? Is bklyn not 'authentic' enough for you anymore *because* of hipsters??? Is this real? Do I have a brane?

  5. question:

I have a shit-ton of comics I wanna sell and I'm thinking the best possible way to sell them that isn't eBay is a street sale.

    A) do I need a permit

    B) what is the best neighborhood to set up in

    C) am I gonna get hassled

    D) will someone lend me a folding table

looking for a definitive answer on A

    thanks

Not sure. What about flea markets and stuff like that? used to sell pokemon cards in Stuy Town's flea market when I was a kid. made $$$$ (for a ten year old, anyways)

  6. Just finished Spring Snow by Yukio Mishima today.

Shit was so good. I loved how awkwardly perfect the writing was. I'm not sure if it was simply due to the translation, or if it was intended to be as stilted as it was, but it came across as being meticulous in a way that added to the soft tone of the story. It's interesting I guess how it almost reflected Kiyoaki's character, and I'm gonna go on a stretch and say Mishima as well (from what I've gathered off his Wiki).

Not sure what to get next though. Definitely want to finish the Sea of Fertility 'series', but don't want to marathon it. Hm. We'll see.

  7. Did somebody say *WAVVES*????

    I FUCKING LOVE WAVES (2)

Also: Zola Jesus has been on my last.fm recommendations for a good six months or so now. I should check them out sometime.

  8. ^^

Hah, a friend purchased a brew kit and made a batch recently. Ended up being pretty successful. Good luck with yours.

Tried this out the other day:

    Aecht+Schlenkerla.jpg

First smoked beer I've ever tried (and didn't even realize such a thing existed until I saw it on the menu). Once you get over the initial 'weirdness' of drinking a smoked beer, it starts to become really drinkable. Really complex in a much more obvious way, imo, than something like a stout, simply because of the unusual flavoring, but it's surprisingly light. Definitely something to drink at a barbecue, hah.

  10. I can't believe they (POBPAH) sold out Bowery. Damn yo. Someone should do a dissertation on the effect P4k hype gives to bands.

Anyways, oh man, NYC Popfest 09 just got better with Suburban Kids with Biblical Names. Such a High School band for me, but that's why I'm so psyched. And on the same day as Rose Melberg also!! Wasn't able to get advance tix, but I'm going to be standing in line that morning to get whatever they have left at the door. I'm not missing out on that.
