  1. you'll be surprised with lifting shoes, they have a raised heel so they allow you to squat with a lot more depth. important for oly-lifting if you are cleaning maximum weight and going ass to grass or people with flexibility issues but less important if you are going just below parallel (given your flexibility allows for that).

  2. Selling some clothes that I do not wear regularly before I move. All prices are in USD, but it will be shipping from Canada. paypal accepted.

Maison Martin Margiela 14 Trench Coat Size 48

    LRnrsI8.jpg?1

Bought this trench coat from the MMM store in NY the winter of 09-10. Minimally worn, has been taking up closet space ever since. 80 percent wool, 20 percent angora with lining. three button, with hidden button slots. Similar MMM jacket retailing for 2000+ at barneys. Just dry cleaned for your benefit. Beautiful jacket, but a little big and a little too formal for me. Only reason why I'm selling now is because of a major move. Includes the dust bag that was provided with the jacket.

    Length: 40.5 inches

    Pit to Pit: 21 inches

Obscur A/W '12 Twisted Sleeve One Button Blazer

Great 100 percent virgin wool blazer from Obscur. Worn 3-4 times. Long twisted sleeves. Again, just did not find the occasion to wear this jacket enough. Lined jacket, but can be used as a spring time layer. Similar silhouette to this picture, but possibly different material. (this was the same season so could very well be the same)

Raf Simons t-shirt from 2009. Graphic says "there is a crack in everything thats how the light gets in." Worn very minimally, the t shirt was always too small for me.

  3. lewd acts is awesome. here's a personal favorite of mine...

and for other recommendations, any american nightmare/give up the ghost, ruiner is another band that comes to mind, people like the carrier but not my favorite... the latter half of the 2000's had some great gems for emotionally charged hardcore.

  4. speaking of pump furys, anyone know any stockists in the US/Canada that have the boris bidjan furys?

Seems like a lot of european shops have them, but i'm trying to not have to pay those customs fees...

  5. dedicated myself strictly to oly-lifting lately and really enjoying it. i've noticed lower back rounding/butt sag when i go down to the low snatch position, so i've been only doing hang cleans and hang snatches and my form on those. any suggestions on improving flexibility to remedy this rounding? i've been doing these lower body mobility exercises, so it might be more of a core issue.

  6. saw an interesting video about this new spray rustoleum created called "neverwet" that repels water. since so much techwear is concerned with weather/water proof-ness thought it might be an interesting thing to contribute to this thread. seemingly normal clothes can now be turned waterproof with just a spray.

my question is how is the breathability of the material after it's been sprayed and if the fabric somehow alters in feel after it has been sprayed. (might have been answered but had to watch the video without sound) it seems like an interesting thing to experiment with.

  7. I hope you won't be unpleasantly surprised when the customs and duties bill shows up from Fedex

didn't even think of that, knew it was too good to be true. haven't ordered anything overseas in a while so it somehow slipped my mind. nice looking jacket up there!

  8. Isn't the Neoshell 530 pounds? Wouldn't that put it in Veilance territory as far as pricing goes?

Edit: I guess it's a bit less expensive.

yeah, i wanted a mid length jacket so the veilance was a little pricey. also norse projects has a tax free discount going out of denmark so it's actually cheaper than the listing on the website. pleasantly surprised at that.

  9. also from montreal, a buddy of mine has a veilance insulated shell and says it's warm even when it dips below 20. i don't own any insulated piece vrom veilance, but heard really good things about how they perform. i bought a final home jacket to an ex-gf and it was comfortable from like 10 to -30, was the dopest jacket ever, so adaptable and light, yet so warm when you needed it.

that being said, there's maybe 15-20 days a year when it gets so cold that sometimes a hard trade between fashion and function is necessary. pretty much everyone i know owns some sort of puffy coat or really warm parka for those days.

thanks for the info. i went with the rokkvi neoshell over the veilance as it was more in my price range, so we'll see how it performs. i'll post an update when it arrives dougprishpreed and let you know how it holds up to the cold.

  10. thanks mike. the rokkvil parka looks great for the specifics i'm looking for. i'll have to go into the arcteryx store to try some more jackets on, but i'm definitely honing in on what i'm looking for.

  11. Aether apparel

thanks, the jackets look awesome. i'll definitely check it out.

I think Arcteryx and Veilance would certainly work if the aesthetic is what you are looking for. I have a insulated Veilance jacket and despite it being very very light, its super warm. Another option is getting a shell and seperate liner.

i think at the temps that montreal dips into during the winter, functionality is the most essential aspect to look at right now. i mean ideally i'm into long black drapey clothes, but a lot of the designers i like generally don't have warmth in mind, more aesthetic.

but really just looking for something very warm, waterproof, and light. i ride my bike a lot so breathability is important also. i'll look into the shells and liners, but i think i'm leaning more towards an insulated jacket.

  12. need some suggestions guys. moved to montreal this year and it's starting to get cold... and it's only going to get colder. i'm looking to get a nice jacket that will deal with the montreal winter (and i don't want to just cave in and buy a goose or north face). any suggestions for lightweight water/weatherproof/warm/padded jackets that will be able to combat the cold while not being very bulky? checked out some of the arc'teryx stuff and am interested in it, just wanted to get some of your guy's input also.

  13. broke up with my gf in february. i was moving out of the city by the end of summer and we were fighting constantly. we decided to end it on our own terms instead of letting it fester up until when i was going to leave. there wasn't a mourning period for me. i immediately just went all out afterwards to distract myself. going out every night, drinking, partying... started kicking it with this other girl, and several others, as a rebound almost a week or two afterwards, basically keeping myself busy enough to not think about it.

By the beginning of summer, i was drinking heavily everyday and this overwhelming sadness just hit me. by that time i hadn't tried to contact her, but i always had this thought in my head that we could just be "friends". hit her up and we met up, but it just made me even more sad. was in a pretty bad place by the time I actually left the city, plethora of drugs, drinking half a bottle of whiskey by myself every night, and to top it off my apartment got infested with bed bugs. essentially hit rock bottom.

i left the city and moved to montreal and i think i've found closure on the whole situation. we still talk, but i don't have this overwhelming sense of sadness whenever we do. i'm able to go out and be social and don't stay in my little bubble of self induced haziness and sadness. met a girl and it doesn't feel like i'm just kicking it with her to have someone to fill that void. don't even want another serious relationship at this moment, i'm just happy on doing me. took some time to feel like myself again, but i'm better. time heals all.

  14. very interesting movements through music. for aggressive music, i started off with metallica/slayer in middle school (just playing the albums to death and jamming to it), then moved on death metal and black metal, and then somehow ended up in metalcore also (BTBAM, red chord, ion dissonance, dillinger escape plan). so i feel like a lot of trajectories weren't too different.

it's funny though, i met a lot of friends who got into hardcore from "hot-topic" friendly bands and then some who were straight up punk kids that grew into that. it's interesting to hear all these paths towards the common love of hardcore though.
