I know that subject line has a ton of jokes...
My new Alden 405's right foot tongue keeps slipping to the right. the left shoe is fine, but the right keeps shifting no matter how tight I tie them.
What do you guys do to keep this from happening to your boots?

so maybe we should a Whites semi dress group buy or something...

Here's my new 405's. I really, really like them. They actually fit perfect right out of the box.
maybe I'm a bit picky but this is the close up of the missed stitch on the left toe. I called Alden and they said to just sent them back and they'll fix them or give me a new pair!
But I don't want to give them up. I finally got them....

I just got my 405's tonight. It's late so I only tried them on. Wow, they felt fantastic right out of the tiny box they stuffed them in.
I did notice one, what I'd call a flaw in the stitching around the toe area on the actual sole of the shoe. Looks like they missed one of the holes to me. Would that make them a factory 2nd or should I just let it go and enjoy them?

I got them from sherman brothers. $300 shipped with no tax. It's about the best price I could find on the internet. I get them wednesday.

Well I made the plunge. I just ordered a pair of 405's... I was debating between them and the Whites semi dress...

Okay,
I was debating between the White's semi dress or the Alden 405's. It's swaying towards the 405s.
Is there something else like those two?
Also if I go with the 405's, how do they fit?

I never liked the look of any of the Wesco boots when I was dong the search around for my next pair of boots. If I was going to go with that style of boot, I'd go with the White's Smoke Jumper. I settled on Russell Mocs instead (Argh, July can't come FAST enough).
I thought the jobmaster was a 10 inch upper? I wonder if he got them custom made...
I posted these before, but have you looked at these Wescos?

you know, I happen to wear an 11.5.....

Greg,
First off, those are amazing boots.
I think you've been picking up all these sport cars lately and wearing them all over town. Now you picked a vintage Dodge Power Wagon. You're just use to the sports cars. Let this pair of Dodges grow on you for a while.

Those White's Semi-Dress boots of course... I thought you ordered a pair?

Greg,
you must have a very understanding wife...
granted I'd do own the same thing...
Still working on mine to get those whites...

I do gag cartoons. Here's one I did for an Xmas card last year.

I thought bridgestone went out of business?

Yes, I bought the 11s as the 11.5's were too big. Then after a day the 11's were too tight. So I got the 11.5's claptons and the fits nice. A bit roomy, but nice. But I'm always a stickler for shoes fitting right.

One note on Docs. It's been a while since I bought mine, but in the US you can't get half sizes. In the UK and Canada you can. I ordered mine from Canada and got my right size.

I bought a pair of the 1905's but returned them. They're almost the same to the clapton, but it doesn't have the moc toe. Also the 1905's have a double stitch or something if I remember around the sole.
I also got my clapton's on ebay. They looked a little newer when I got them.

Here's my pair of Eric Clapton Redwing's. I like them because they don't have the moc toe. I added leather laces.

What a great thread. I'm going to have to get some more boots.
Here's some pics of my Custom Wesco Boss. I was going for the Vintage 40's biker look...

Go with your gut. If it sounds like something not right, then it probably is.
