  1. For those that didn't or couldn't pass by Self Edge on Sunday, you missed seeing an incredible black denim shirt that is 22oz thick and the blacked out Super Black denim also 22oz. Good meeting the man behind Iron Heart, Mr. Haraki and also UK Iron Heart distributor, Giles. Other cool people and free beer that I had to pass on since I was short on time. :(

  2. So far what I picked up and so far fit fairly well:

2 x Sugar Cane Okinawa (1 hard washed, 1 raw denim)

    Iron Heart 634S

Iron Heart x Self Edge SEXIH03BK (lot's of thigh room, but a little tighter down below due to the taper)

    Levi's 501xx 1947 Deadstock

and my most recent is the Sugar Cane SC40601 Hand Loom Style (really loose fitting)

  3. I picked up some LVC 1947 deadstocks in 36 x 34, hoping it would shrink to fit properly. After the warm soak and hang dryed, it was still too damn big. I then hot soaked them for 4 hours and timed dried them for 50 minutes on hot in my dryer. That gave me the shrinkage I was looking for. Not it's fitting my normally 32-33 waist and the 34 length shrinked to 31.

  4. So I just really got into real quality denim since Self Edge opened and I picked up a couple of pairs of Sugar Cane Okinawas and Iron Heart 624S. I was wondering what other brands that you might know of that would actually work with my wider legs.

I remember going to American Rag and trying on like 8 different pairs of denim and coming out empty handed. Most wouldn't go past my thighs.

See pic below and that's me on the right. (Sugar Cane "Okinawa")

  5. What's the best way to shrink a 1947 36x38 to maybe 32 or 33 x 34 or 36 -- Hot Soak and Dry on high?

I just picked up a pair of 1947 deadstock in 36x34 and I gave them a proper 10 min soaking in the tub and let dry, but still too large! I then machine washed them inside out with medium heat and air dryed. Now they are perfect for my normally 32-33 waist.

  6. I picked up a pair of the Okinawa One Wash Indigos and I want to fade them faster than wearing it everyday for a year. Any recommendations? I saw the a couple of pairs of jeans in on the wall display at Self Edge and I want this pair to look that those.
