  1. There's going to be a pile of OA02XX coming our way shortly, with a 50-year Time Machine treatment. The indigo takes on a greenish cast, and the hand becomes much more dry. Just like you pulled them out of a stack at a feed store in Nebraska.

  2. A little later this week, we'll have our 1st PAT-RN FW16 collection online. There's not a lot of hype around what Cris and Silvia do yet, but it is some of the best we have ever seen, in any category. Everything is made in Italy from mostly - with the exception of the two pieces cut from Japanese selvedge chino cloth - Italian fabrics.

They run on two themes - International Trad, mashing up the best of American Trad and Italian tailoring to produce timeless classics; and Advanced Workwear, applying Italian tailoring to workwear staples - chinos, chore coats, etc. The common ground is all excellent inputs and soft, comfortable tailoring.

Here's a teaser - both pieces are in Japanese yarn-dyed selvedge chino cloth, and the undershirt is a Real McCoy's N-1 (also in stock now).

  3. By the way.... I have some of those in stock aaaaand maybe some buckle back Hercules overalls...

Just wanted to give the guys at Standard & Strange a shout out for hooking me up with one of the new tees from M&O Mfg. Co., the new brand from Ryo and Hiro in collaboration with Mr. Matsuoka Sewing Machine!

Also the shipping was crazy fast, sent mrsmiff the money on Wednesday and it already got here today.

This is a size 44, the fabric is a really nice oatmeal color with some slight irregularity and nep to it.

The fit is very similar to a Mr. Freedom skivvy tee, high and tight sleeves with a wider neck.

I like how small and minimal the rayon label (assuming it's rayon) is. The fabric is also very lightweight, prefect for the summer.

Nice branded sticker attached to the shirt.

The attention to detail in the sewing is what you would expect from a pair of jeans from Ooe Yofukuten.

    Shoulder and sleeve stitching:

Really interesting looking stitch along the side seams, this is the inside of the shirt:

This photo is the true color of the fabric:

Never thought I could write this much about a blank white tee, but leave it to Ryo, Hiro and Mr. Matusoka to include so many nice details! I look forward to what the brand has in store.

  4. Rogue Territory FW16 just arrived. It's an incredibly strong collection, and response has been phenomenal.

Based on vintage barn coats, the Rancher comes in a 11oz light indigo neppy 2x1 denim and a custom New England plaid.

The Hunter shirt returns in tan/navy plaid, and gets an update in maroon/navy plaid and an olive neppy flannel.

That same neppy flannel shows up in black in a western cut, and in dark navy blue for the return of the Jumper. The workshirt comes back again, but in their exclusive 11oz black Stealth denim for the first time.

All-new rinsed copper canvas is sewn up in the SK (slim tapered)Stanton (slim straight) and Officer Trouser (slim tapered) fits.

  5. I've got some exciting news, so I just put together a new photo zine and it is currently up for sale over at http://zinekong.com/products/star-gazing they also carry a lot of other books by some truly amazing photographers. Give it a look and buy one of you want (they're super cheap)! Most of this project was shot while wearing my ooe's so theres that too. Thanks for the support in advance even if its just letting other people know its out there!

So cool! Just snatched a copy to put in the shop.

  6. Where can I snag a pair of the OA02 cut in a 35? Every time they restock I'm either broke or don't have a need for jeans but I've got the itch right now.

I'll have a restock of those by end of August. Get at me if you want to reserve them.

Also, gentle reminder, if anyone is in the Bay Area, and wants to meet Ryo and Hiro, they'll be at our shop tomorrow for Denim Bruin!

  7. I hope I see some of you folks out tomorrow at our shop for Denim Bruin!

Ooe Yofukuten will be coming all the way from Ichinomiya, Japan just for the event; Indigofera, from Sweden; and Michael Masterson, from his secret headquarters on the moon.

Ooe Yofukuten will have Denim Bruin t-shirts knit and sewn in Ichinomiya (yes, knit right there) in collaboration with Mr. Matsuoka as part of their new brand M&O Mfg.

Sunday the 31st, we will be hosting the event at our shop in Oakland from 12-4pm. Cocktails from Rob of Workhorse Rye will be poured to go with all of the incredible work on display from our friends-in-denim.

It's always a good time, and we hope to see you there! If you can't make it out, check us out on Instagram and @standardstrange on Snapchat.

  8. ^Not to divert the thread, but I'd love to get one of the Ooe shirts...Wondering how much they cost and if you'd be willing to hold one? ;)

In the same boat as aho, I would love to buy one of the shirts!

I don't have pricing on the shirts - we're going to do them first-come-first-serve for the event on a special edition tee that's being made for this event.

However, if the base t-shirts are as awesome as everything else OA, I hope to stock the blanks.

  9. Looks like Ryo and Hiro might be making a denim jacket now, can't wait to see it.  :)

That is true, they are. I've tried it on.

I don't know how many OA fans live in the SF Bay Area, but they will be joining us for Denim Bruin on 7/31.

They're bringing new t-shirts they're making with Mr. Matsuoka (sinker weave knit AND sewn in Ichinomiya), along with a big box of including the "jumper" chore coat, and a few surprises.

    Full details in this post.

  11. New stuff day at the shop!

First up, we've got two styles in from Pure Blue Japan - KS-013-WID and XX-011. We stock both in one-wash to make sizing easier for our customers.

The KS-013-WID is their slim taper fit in an all new, super slubby - they call it "knubby" - 16oz denim, with an indigo warp and weft.

    fZLGCYk.jpg

Then we have a PBJ classic back again - the XX-011 in 13.5oz left hand twill. Here's a pair with 8 months of wear - notice how the left-hand twill leads to more vertical falling in the fades than usual.

    7U7zZXS.jpg

The Hawley from Indigofera showed up as well. It's a western shirt cut in super-supple whiskey goat suede. This guy runs huuuugge in typical Indigofera fashion so size down one.

  12. this contest should finish up around dec 2017, with Aho we thought about let start the new TCB contest right at the end of this one, just for the sake of playing it nice and give people the opportunity of doing both.

Either way it's fine to me but if there are plans already now to organize a new Ooe contest I won't wait the end of this one to set up the TCB new contest.

    No plans yet, just speculation.

  13. PBJ recently doubled its capacity because it has access to another Toyoda loom and a craftsman who does have the skill and knowledge to calibrate the loom to weave fabrics with PBJ's denim's unique characteristics. It took Kenichi Iwaya a long time to get this in place as he is so fastidious about the fabrics he makes. There were 2 year gaps between some denim runs and now we are seeing some lines run twice a year. Last week in Tokyo I saw a couple of brands we don't carry (no names) attempting to imitate PBJ and they don't even come close.

    What Danny said.

Regarding Oni and PBJ - there is no relationship there as far as the production of the denim.
