  1. i just got back from the lafayette shop. it was an absolute madhouse. i hung around for about 30 minutes, moved about 1 foot on line, and bounced.

anyone who waits for 5 hours to buy a tshirt is out of their mind. im sorry, you just have too much time on your hands. end of story.

  2. word. I really really don't like vintage tees at all anymore. even Barking Irons and all that.

"vintage" t's were played out for a while now. anyone i see sifting thourgh piles of "Less Cowbell!" and "Keepin' it Reel" (picture of a man fishing) automatically get the evil eye from me. that shit is so tired.

  3. 4. the fact that I bought my Spiewak jacket at a hip downtown boutique and found hordes the same thing on a huge rack in the UO men's section.

same thing here! i bought this AWESOME jacket from Brown Sound (i believe...) at some TINY boutique on Smith St. in BKLYN. it was the last one in the store, and i paid a decent amount of money for it (cosidering the fact that it wasn't a big, heavy winter coat or tailored blazer). today, i walk into the urban outfitters on b'way and bleecker, and see about 10 of them stuffed on a rack, on sale for less than 1/2 of what i paid! grrr.

  4. six months, 2 years whatever... personal preference(stink, feel, rippage are factors). But rule of thumb round here is 6-9 months

gotcha, but is it bad to cold soak them right away in order for proper shrinkage in the inseam to set in (for tailoring purposes)?

  5. Give them a good soak first to get the shrinkage out of the way before you have them altered. they should still be crispy enough for you to set your creases and get the contrast your looking for.

what about the whole "don't wash fro 6 months" deal. is this definitley the move?

sorry for the skepticism, i just wnat these to come out perfect

  6. so i just picked up a new pair of raw APC jeans (in nyc), and they definitely need some hemming. I haven't worn them yet, and while i've been reading enough about raw denim care today to write a book, i haven't found anything mentioning what to do with hemming brand new jeans. correct me if i'm wrong here, but i understand that i probably shouldn't wash them for at least6 months. after that, i should wear them in a cold shower and hang 'em out to dry. but as far as tailoring goes, what should i do? i've heard that the inseam will shrink a couple of inches after the first wash, but that probably won't be til february.

    help! thanks.
