  1. any idea why? bad sales, or are they reopening in another location, or some other external factor? i'd always thought denim shops like these seemed to make it against the odds.

maybe they did re-open in another location - I don't know. they were on the second floor of a corner building with an entrance on the side that wasn't well marked or advertised...easy to miss for the average shopper, but not for the vintage repro otaku, so who knows.

  2. there's also OT&Emotional at harajuku. i think it's along takeshita st walking away from the train station after meiji dori. basically it's along the same street as headporter, but before where bounty hunter is at.

I just got back from Tokyo three weeks ago and OT&E closed down.

  3. but working with any other fabrics can't be any easier than working with floppy denim? why would denim in particular need to be starched during construction?

Actually, most fabrics are treated with a sizing and are desized and pressed before shipping. Some aren't desized, like cheap t-shirts, which is why some t-shirts have a sheen straight out of the package. Bed sheets are also rarely desized.

  4. thanks for all the comments on my rby45 sorahikos. I bought those in October 2003 and I think I've washed them maybe 6 times. a lot of the honeycomb behind the knee that I had at maybe the one year mark kind of faded out a lot. the denim is just now starting to go - I put those patches on about two weeks ago. my only critique of rby45 is that I wish that had a more traditional looking selvage. I'll post my collection when I get a chance - my second favorite are a pair of pherrow's stormy blues that I got in harajuku, the kind with flannel pocket lining. the flannel has long since rotted away, but the jeans look amazing. and I'm breaking in a pair of rrl's that I washed for the first time last weekend.
