  1. I like the idea of a sample trading ring. How would that work? Just package 'em up and ship them in cushy envelopes? I suppose only paying shipping for a few samples is much cheaper than the perfumed court.

So when I first started reading this thread I sampled Russian Caravan Tea and I didn't really appreciate it at the time. The weather was just starting to get into the 50-60s here in Boston and the scent was just too.... clean and sharp? It also didn't help any that I had less patience than I do now. I tried it again now that it is getting hot out and I love it. I definitely do not smell a smoky tea at all, but rather my skin just begins to smell like a light, slightly acidic tea. If it weren't for the tea note that finishes each whiff I fear it would smell too much like lemon soap. Anyway, great summery skin scent. It makes me feel/smell like I have been studying in a green tea house for 24 hrs straight. Love it.

  2. Do any of the recs you have been making fall into the family of Chypre? I am trying to learn families so that when I read "a typical whatever" I know kind of what it might smell like. The Chypre sounds like a masculine type scent family that I would like to further investigate.

I own Sequoia and Vettiveru. Do these fall into any of the families? Is the families thing just a bunch of BS?

    THANKS YO

  3. So the coupon code does work on SL scents, but my girlfriend has decided that she doesn't want to smell exactly like lilies. She did seem to like Tuberose Gardenia but again it might smell too much like the flower. Any suggestions on a gardenia scent that isn't too exact a representation of the flower? (I know that is what I asked for before).

I tried Bois d'Iris yesterday and I have to say it is my favorite Iris scent. The wood just gives it a wonderful sharpness that compliments the iris so well. I found Iris Silver Mist to be to creamy. It smelled like fresh uncut carrots to me (the rooty smell I guess). Divine's L'homme de ceour (or however it is spelled) dried down to kind of a vanilla scent and I hate vanilla scents. But I love everything else about it. But anyay, I think I might get a bottle of Bois d'Iris at some point.

  4. I recently got some samples to find a scent for my gf. Along with the gardenias gimme recommended, I got a sample of serge lutens Un lys. Holy shit! It smells amazing! A perfect lily scent. Thats all I wanted to say, she is definitely getting a bottle of this.

Actually, how do I go about acquiring the pars lutens scents??

  5. I don't get japanese baths from Hinoki. What I get is the smell of my parent's cedar scented chests with table cloths in them. Also, the smell of my shoe trees. Seems if you have any memories tied to cedar, then thats what you're going to get. But the smell is delightful.

  6. Alright, I am looking to get my girlfriend a good summer scent. She likes (and I like) and wears Hypnotic Poison right now for reference. I am thinking something with a good gardenia scent to it. Any recommendations to try out?

I am beginning to become immune to the smell of hypnotic and I don't want that because I love smelling it.

  7. those Trickers are sick. Someday I gotta get a pair of trickers. It would be a hard choice between a nice pair of Trickers or Alden Indys for my "classic" boots.
