The Bathing Ape collaboration was nothing to do with Carhartt Europe, it was arranged by the old Japanese distributor A & T.

carhartt streetwear sucks, made on license by some german company. The real orginal workwear is whats good, and can be worn "street" aswell.
Sorry Bobo but you're wrong on a couple of counts. The holding company is Swiss not German and the terms of the license mean that the American company signs off all of the designs and contains stipulations that include manufacturing garments to a standard commensurate with the American product...
The American tops are cut short, wide and huge in the arm; fine if you're built like a builder or into that aesthetic but difficult to wear for most Europeans. I've got vintage pieces going back to the early 30's and all of them are either too short in the arm or too wide across the shoulders for me to wear without looking like I've forgotten to take the hanger out.
Yes I do work for Carhartt Streetwear... If anyone has any requests please pm me and I'll see what I can do.

Tenderloin make a LH twill Wrangler repro. I'm not sure how legitimate the LH twill is but they look wonderful, pictures tomorrow.

A very similar disaster occured to me when some Skulls I brought from Fab Four last April were intercepted at customs. I also used to buy a lot of bike parts from the States until the U.K. distributer told customs they were being undercut resulting in customs checking every package marked bike parts.
It's especially galling if you get hammered buying something you can't actually purchase in the U.K. Protectionist bullshit...

agreed
honeyee does not always mean good taste
I couldn't agree more but I still like those shoes. As I grew up wearing Dr. Martins I'll admit that nostalgia may be partly responsible for my interest.

Love the leather welt on these...

Where to start...
-The most foolish. Riding home late after a lock-in. Hopped up the curb behind a parked car and rode straight into a horizontal metal bar which came half way up my front wheel. My hands didn't even get off the bars and I did a full scorpion on my face. Result, straight to casualty.
-Broken arm this summer, looped out of a full speed manual and landed on the point of my elbow.
-Meniscus tear, came off a rail early and managed to land sitting on my leg which was bent back underneath my body.
-Separated a rib from my sternum after crashing and putting the bar-end into my chest.
-Haematoma on my hip after pedalling too early out of a roundabout.
-A couple of concussions including waking up at the bottom of a vert ramp wondering what had happened, I don't ride vert any more...
-Shinners to the bone a few times, they fucking hurt.
-2 Dislocated shoulders, must. not. crash. with. arms. out.

Can anyone vouch on the quality of Superdry leathers? Are they a british or japanese brand? Just curious...
Oh and how about Corpus leathers?
Two ends of the scale?
I don't know anything about Corpus jackets but the Superdry one's will be shite. Superdry is a British brand owned by Cult clothing which is a shitty chain of multi-brand stores in the U.K.

tried a all saints leather jacket in london. really liked the slim fit. it's 295GBP.
do you think it's worth the money?
Personally no... All Saints stuff tends to be poorly made and overpriced, it seems to have a cult high st. following in the U.K. though.

I'm not quite sure how I stumbled across this article but it's a scientific take on cycling with headphones in:

This but in wool, it doesn't often get cold enough in the U.K. to wear it though...

I'm James, the dick who hired a van limited to 100kmph and then went on a 4000km roadtrip. Let me know when you're planning to be back in London and I'll show you around, so much stuff.

that's not a problem for VSVM since they have put harris tweed and 3L gore together as well as leather+wind stopper liner
It'd also make sense as the Mess pants from this season are made from a regular herringbone fabric.

i thought herringbone was a pattern, not a fabric. like arrow shapes, correct me if im wrong.
http://www.alibaba.com/showroom/Herringbone_fabric.html I'm not sure how it's woven though.

Herringbone outer fabric lined with goretex?

Bmxfu That Counts is coming out soon!
I busted my ass filming for this, and I really am happy how the video is turning out.
Sadly, a lot of reasons have me off my bike more that I'd like. Regardless, here's my bike and a riding photo from this summer.
Looks good, plenty of emphasis on just dicking around on bikes which is always good to see. I've seen little bits of Charlie footage doing the rounds but everyone else is new to me...

I don't think so, not on the first generation Primo hubs which had loads more pawls than the current version. Not 100% sure about this though...

its put me right off the jackets this season. the pinstripes remind me of tacky silk ties and bedsheets you would find in a next store
Isn't that just a herringbone fabric?

It's weird, I was actually thinking about making a BMX thread earlier....anyways, I don't have much to contribute right now...I'm actually supposed to be editing a section for The Come Up for Conall and I, but I'm having some technical difficulties! For now...here's my bike(or at least what it looked like a few months ago).
Chad M as in Chad Moore? I met Conall in Berlin this Summer and we stuck him in the van back to the U.K. Good times, shit weather...

The BMX content of the Bicyclettes thread is always swamped by fixed chat so I thought I'd start a thread dedicated to 20'' bikes.
To start this off here's a trailer for the new Retribution DVD:

There is kind of a connection to Cock Sparrer in the above link, ten points if anyone calls it.
U.K. BMX at it's best, the last gaps fucking massive.

I completely share your sentiments Bobo regarding the influence of vintage pieces on the European collection and without wanting to land myself in trouble I'd like to see a lot more reworked American garments in the collection.
The problem is that we sell a tiny amount of the original workwear and if we were to produce blanked lined trousers in Carhartt brown I doubt we'd wholesale enough to reach the production minimum. On the other hand we sell loads of stripey sweaters and printed T's.
I'm slowly getting togther samples for a heritage exhibition we intend to hold in our London store in September this year, I'll post pictures as they arrive if you'd like.
