  1. project pat - that's what money do

"Put the needle on the record man... some ol' gangsta shit"

    Love that intro.

    gorilla biscuits - big mouth

"YO SUCKA! YOU GOT A BIG MOUTH, brrRrrbow!!!"

I guess I'm lovin samples to start it off as of right now.

  2. one of the blogs i have been frequenting of late:

    http://this.bigstereo.net

saw someone mention The Avalanches a few pages back-- they posted up an mp3 from the new album. it's gettin me pretty psyched.

i'm still only on the borders of electronic/house/"neu-rave" but have been pretty into 'indie dance' of late. dance parties have been erupting in the "indie" scene and i guess in some ways i'm lumped into all of that being an "art student" who throws said basement parties. call me what you will, but what-i-am-through-and-through, is passionate about music. i'm all about finding it in as many forms and styles as i can. i am all about finding music that stirs me emotionally. as for dance music whether it be disco/house/electro/glitch/indie, it moves me physically and opens me up "emotionally". and i dance as a cathartic thing, i absorb the music and not what people think or want to look like. i ain't in it for the chicks.

in any case, that's my approach and thoughts i suppose. like i said, i'm guilty of only being on the surface to some levels but would love a crash course in more.

things on the dance list of late:

    the gossip (soul wax edit)

mstrkrft (anything and everything. probably my favorite album of 2006 bar none)

daft punk (old, new, it all has a special place and flavor to me)

    data rock

    the new young pony club

    css

    chromeo

    junior senior

    ladytron

    !!!

    the rapture

    vitalic

i know it's basically the hot pitchfork list... and so i put the challenge out: recommend something to me that blows my mind. mp3's / sendspaces would help :)

  3. might be better to MegaUpload that since they keep it up for a long time.

I have really really mixed feelings about the dude. for one-- i'm glad he's gotten his name out there for doing what he does... insane live shows, unstoppable energy, mashing up and disregarding any and all bounds of "copyright" and artist integrity to make something raw and new...

but there's a hype factor, asshole factor of making it large, general cockiness, and the kids who follow him that riff on my bad side.

hate to be the "i knew him when he was underground... before he sold out and shit" but i had seen a few of his sets a few years back. one of my favorite sets was last year just before pitchfork put his name out there and all of his CDs sold out. it was a performance in conjunction with some art grad students at my school. a bunch of pittsburgh (gregg's hometown) bros from southside barge in screaming "YEEEAH!!! WERRR'S THE BEEEEEEYuR!?" apparently they heard the hype about booty-shakin, american apparel, hipster girls goin wild at girltalk's shows from reading the city paper. they kinda interrupted the flow of some of the night performances, but as a whole things went well for the performance art part. then girl talk gets on stage and starts wreckin the place. kids jump on stage (and off) and go nuts. the bro's stand at the fringes unsure of how to groove with the beat or how the hell to grind and rub up on someone to the music. some of their confused expressions were my favorite memories from that night. the set was a blast.

i got a prof. who's setting up a festival in pittsburgh later in the year with girl talk playing at the warhol museum theater. things are starting to get painful since gregg has so much hype surrounding him now, and the warhol holds about 100 people (it's also a seated venue) so spreading the word and music is definitely limited. dealing with all of this is starting to become a bit of a nightmare, but hopefully things will pan out...

  5. thanks for the reply. i usually wear a 32 and wsa thinkin to get around 34...

my concern with raw is that the jeans will bleed all over the place-- which sucks when wearing white clothes and when sweating or biking in the rain/snow

  6. Sorry dudes, I feel kinda bad "hijacking" or retopping someone's thread especially if their questions have not been fully answered + I thought this might be too many questions to get answered on the small questions thread... soooo here it goes.

I didn't get to go out this winter as planned and make a pilgrimmage to check out Cheap Mondays + sizing etc. I'm still pretty new to the upscale fashion denim scene (mainly been wearing AR kr3ws and levis 511) so I have some noob'ish questions.

I am thinking about buying from blue bee since they ship in US and have my size:

    Bluebee

    same style on caliroots:

    Caliroots

    1. want to reconfirm (sorry justice) dark blue tight unwashed is raw? or not raw?

    2. anyone have a size 33 or 34 waist in tight dark blue or similar cuts? i need measurements if possible of it layed flat so i can compare with my previous jeans.

    3. ok... so as mentioned i'm new to the high end denim scene (not that cheap monday is high end or anything). i've heard people dissing its quality... so am i better off buying my cheapy kr3w or levi 511 jeans? i know it's probably lower end compared to the really slowly woven denim (samurai) or the super heavy raw stuff or selvedge... but i'm just lookin for a cheap, slim fit, non raw, pair of jeans that will not fall apart on me within a year (unlike my levis + kr3ws and they don't even face daily wear, i rotate them out every few days)

thanks so much, sorry to pester with questions.

  7. yoyo i'm back til jan 12th. i lost your phone number AGAIN because i got a new phone? i think? since hte last time i saw you? HEY you never emailed me loser. anyway, merry christmas. maybe i'll get on AIM since i havne't in like half a year.

    kbye.

  8. god, i seriously can't rank these things:

    T.I. - King

    MSTRKRFT - The Looks

    Joanna Newsom - Ys

    Trae - Restless

The Melvins - (a) Senile Animal

The Hope Conspiracy - Death Knows Your Name

Mouth of the Architect - The Ties That Bind

    Girl Talk - Night Ripper

Wolves in the Throne Room - Diadem of 12 Stars

Rise and Fall - Into Oblivion

  9. So i'm lookin for a pair of cheap mondays in the bay area to try on and probably purchase. anybody know of a place? I'm in san jose but can drive to san francisco pretty easily.

another thing: is the(tight) unwashed blue denim raw? i'm not looking for a pair that will bleed all over me since i bike in snow and rain a lot during the year on the east coast. i'd like for the color to stay relatively blue and dark. yeah...
