  1. If I could still pick up a Sinn for 300 pounds I'd have at least 4. I rarely see used Sinns going for under $800USD.

Bell & Ross used to be the same way. I remember American Rag selling them in the $500USD range.

  2. So do Sinn, who I would recommend over archimede

While I agree Sinn probably makes the better watch between the two, you're going to have a pretty tough time finding a Sinn at an Archimede price point.

39mm Archimede sounds perfect and at about $430 they're not too steep either.

From the SNX line but not the 427K I don't think.

Another option is the SNZG models. Personally I like the SNX without that ugly Seiko 5 logo and the slightly cleaner face.

You might check the Watchuseek sales forums as well. Do a quick eBay search for Seiko SNX and you should find a decent match.

  5. For those wondering about Uniform Wares 200 Series. Here's some better shots via Selectism.

Unfortunately, the increase in cost from $131 (100 Series) to $285 only gets you a Swiss ETA 956.412 which is a high-end quartz movement. Really would have liked to see an auto version but oh well.

Looks like they're avail at www.uniformwares.com.

  7. which to cop?

    marmot minimalist. simple straighforward.

TAD gear Raptor. tacticool. tons of pockets.

sorry bout large ass photo bros.

T.A.D. Raptor. Hands down, no question. It'll murder anything you pick up from Arc'teryx, Marmot, etc in quality and if you cop that lovely ME Gray or Black you won't sacrifice an ounce of style.

Well worth your money and you're supporting a small, local San Francisco-based company.

    Amurrka.

  8. Mikey (kyx) and I were talking about this a little last week. He mentioned thinking that the Japanese distributors/retailers were the only ones smart enough to market and get these Americana products into the hands of the right people. Let's be honest, the same number of American's don't get off on this shit as in Japan.

I also noted that the market for stores like Nepenthes, Beams and brands like Rocky Mountain Featherbed Co., etc. etc. has got to be MUCH larger in Japan than in the states. I would imagine that any efforts these names might be considering making to expand into the states would be better served slanging even more product in Japan.
