  1. a few of my san francisco favourite eats -

    1. NOPA (serves dinner till 1am and has an amazing clear cut menu. straight californian- esque cuisine).

    2. Delfina ( northern italian. i love their tripe and their panna cotta is delicious ).

    3. Bi Rite Creamery - (salted caramel ice cream and honey lavender).

    4. Burma Superstar (crowded yes, but tea leaf salad, soups and noodles are A + )

    5. Swan's Oyster Depot ( if you love oysters, you'll love Swans)

    6. Bar Crudo

    7. Canteen

    8. Ame at the St. Regis ( this is also my pick for a good hotel stay )

    9. Koo, Ino or Murasaki for sushi ( if you go to Murasaki, he is a sushi nazi. don't over dip your nigiri and order straight from the specials on the wall ) .

    10. LA PALMA - for the best mexican food ever ( but this is a deli, but go here and order some food to go anyway!)

  2. my top spots in San Francisco are -

    1. Delfina

    2. Nopa

    3. Zuni Cafe

    ( I like rustic California-esque cooking )

    4. Swan's Oyster Depot

    5. Namu

    6. Bi Rite Creamery

    7. Burma Superstar

    8. Murasaki ( if you go here, you must only order sushi from the Specials Menu or food from the Specials Menu or your meal will suck ).

    9. LA PALMA

    10. Bushi Tei

  3. i just came back from singapore about a month ago and enjoyed a boutique that carried labels like dries and comme des garcons. the name escapes me but its located in the 4 seasons hotel ( the mall connects to the hilton hotel i believe, which has their own mini mall of higher end goods ).

  4. they do the holiday xmas sales till early january i believe.

new season doesn't start till then.

    its a mess.

being a woman, i generally avoid shopping in HK during that time.

you do score some pretty good deals though.

  5. going to hong kong at the end of the year might mean trouble.

usually thats when the sales are, you are either going to score with tons of clothes for cheap, or get absolutely nothing.

shopping in HK is worth it though.

  6. there is absolutely nothing around there. what i mean from absolutely nothing is that the whole place is a tourist trap. but since you haven't experience it in awhile, i don't see anything wrong with paying for some fresh crab and shrimp cocktail.

along van ness you'll pass some ritzy districts. i don't have any complaints on those but everything else that was mentioned on this forum is quite a bit away.

  7. I grew up in San Francisco all my life, so here is my input on it.

Craigslist is the best place to go to look for housing in San Francisco. Districts such as the Sunset and Richmond are more neighbourhoody and 1 bedroom apartments in this area run for about $1200 on average. Because these neighbourhoods are so close to the beach, it can be generally foggy whereas other districts such as the Mission and Hayes Valley are bright and sunny. I've noticed though that the Mission now is filled with "expats" and very few people I know who are actually brought up in the Mission live in the community. Depending on what your job is, the Mission can be convenient or inconvenient. The most convenient bus line in San Francisco are the street cars as well as the 38 Geary, which runs from one side of the city to the other.

Parking is somewhat not needed in San Francisco, but the bus lines can be really shitty. Choose where you live by where you work. You will be happy about that choice!

My favourite hangouts in the city are none. Personally I think Haight St is passable and I do all of my shopping at American Rag. I'm not sure what your style is, but Haight St has a lot of street wear brands and things of that such. Hayes Valley as well as Filmore carry a few boutiques that are great.

For food; I think I can name a few spots that almost most San Francisicans eat at -

    1. Park Chow in the Sunset, or Chow in the Castro.

    2. Burma Superstar in the Richmond.

    3. San Tung in the Sunset.

    4. Tanpopo/Mifune in Japantown.

    5. Nann and Curry in Sunset/Downtown.

The best music venues in the city are at either Poleng (former Social Club) and Pink. It really depends on what promoters are throwing the party.

    Hope this helps1

  8. There are numerous places that are exclusive Bape retailers, ConceptShop HK being one of them. Google them, you'll get their webpage as well as their address. I know that there are a few more of them, but I am only familiar with Concept Shop.

There is also a X-Large store in Silvercord in TST, and APC has another location in Causeway Bay across from Juice.

  9. For cheaper versions of Izzue and 2% etc, your best bet is wondering around and bumping into a local store. Streets in MongKok where "flower st" is has lines up stores that sell knockoff designs as well as TST. Sha Tin's malls has a few as well.

  10. Fashion Community Kitterick is one of my favourite Hong Kong labels as well as Shhoop. FCK is all over Hong Kong, with my favourite location in TST - near Double Park. Shhoop - I'm not sure if they still have a location in Causeway Bay, but they also have one in TST, near Double Park across from the Mastermind Productions store. Great local designers.

  11. most parties are over in central over at lam kwai fong, for a more "underground" scene ask the kids that work in the boutiques what's going on that night.

i like most things out by kitterick, and as for more local designers - the mini malls, especially the ones in causeway bay have a lot of local designers with their own boutiques. in terms of men's fashion, i have no idea.

  12. Jozee The Tiger and The Fish.

    A Scene At The Sea.

    La Haine.

    Raise The Red Lantern.

    Cinema Paradiso.

    ChungKing Express.

    Last Life in the Universe.

    Hana and Alice.

    Stranger Than Paradise.

    Do The Right Thing.

    Comrades Almost A Love Story.

    Turn Left, Turn Right.
