  1. I accidentally picked up a pair of these off of the Left Field website. I sold some stuff and there was money sitting in my paypal account... oops. I would totally join this contest, but I don't feel like I could contribute a ton. If there are any spots open after everybody who wants in gets a spot, then hit me up and I will gladly join, but I don't want to take the spot of someone that is going to be dedicated to updates.

  2. Just had a long talk with Roy about this next batch of jeans coming out this week. I'm a bit stunned to find out exactly what the denim is... For the first time in over three decades Cone Mills has produced a run of unsanforized fabric for a brand besides Levi's. This fabric is actually produced for Roy to his exact specifications, only 500 yards were made. If you understand the way mills work this should sound like a flat-out lie. It's not. I myself have a hard time digesting the fact that this happened. It's a test to see how it pans out between Roy and Cone. This is serious history in the making.

You may be totally disregarding the denim for the ROYxCone contest right?

  3. Disappointed with chainstitch coming apart right after a soak on an unworn pair of SG2109.

You better stitch that up quick, because once a chainstitch comes undone it will unravel the whole way pretty easily.

  4. Here is the ranch hand jacket I picked up at the sale. On the fence about the size. Is this too small for me or is the shortness of these types of jackets throwing me off?

The Californians are looking good. Jacket looks like the right size as well.

  5. In general cold water is much more gentle on fabrics. If you hand wash with hose water you can never go wrong. I typically only do a machine wash when it is necessary.

Max shrinkage means use hot water, min shrinkage use cold water. Pretty basic. Also, most of the shrinkage will be lost in directions of strain anyway. So if the waist starts out bigger than your waist and it shrinks smaller than your waist, it will find its way back out to the size of your waist if given enough wear. Length doesn't really come back after a shrink, because there is not much strain lengthwise.

  6. Was your hard wash in the washing machine, or by hand? I think I'll do one last hot wash before the year is up, but I'm always very wary of throwing them in the machine...

Machine wash. My jeans get to a point where I feel the machine can't do any damage. Early on I think the machine can really kill a pair of jeans, but at some point i stop worrying about it and just toss them in there. I think I will do one last hot machine wash prior to final photos.

  7. RNR- the jeans are looking great! How many washes have they had? Judging from the overall fading, I'd guess about a half dozen, but do you usually machine or hand wash?

Other than the initial soak, they have had two handwashes and one (the most recent) hard wash in blazing hot water. The last one pulled a lot of the loose indigo out as well as some residual starch. they are nice and soft now.

  8. @rnr.switch

Those roys are a work of art - just look at those honeycombs! Not bad for a desk jockey.

Looks like it's between you and Zissou then (imo).

Thanks. We are forgetting about Roy6 and PaulT. I have a feeling Paul has been holding out on pics for a final unveiling. What about that loser almostnice too. His knee fades are simple and refined....
