  1. just got the j28 and the j16 today; a few immediate thoughts:

j28: as was mentioned to me, the arms on the jacket are pretty wide/big while the shoulder/body fit how a medium generally fits. i haven't layered my j58 underneath it, but generally, i think i can overlook how they cut the arms on the jacket. the high neck stowaway hood is a nice touch. as with most acronym, i really like the amount of pockets on the jacket; one of which has a multi-level pocket similar to the j47a

j16: cut is nice and doesn't suffer the same issue as the j28 with the arms. the silhouette is nice though can look a bit top heavy with the velcro shoulder pads, which i still don't understand the use case for them. the other thing missing is interops, not sure why it wasn't included.

i've come to realize that one of my favorite acronym details is the neck button, which i use religiously on my other jackets without having to zip up.

all in all, they're nice jackets that i'll keep, but not as good as the j47a and j43a, which are my favorites that i own.

ACR dropped them like a few other retailers - no further or a detailed comment was given to them.

Interesting. Who were the other retailers? I'm guessing that Revive and Fwrd were dropped as well.

I blame Nike for the sudden silly levels of demented demand, kind of a symbiot that works in acrnms favour but not the consumer.

I think this is pretty spot on, especially with the prestos. Wasn't one of the major catalysts for Supreme their sneaker collaboration with Nike?

Obviously things are different now with how fast information travels, IG accounts such as acrhive, etc...where awareness builds faster thus leading to higher demand with limited supply. I imagine even without the increased demand, acrnm would have produced similar numbers of product either way. All speculation tho.

Separately, I think they've shown how to build a brand and a world that's particularly compelling and one of the reasons why I'm really into what they do.

i just pulled up my haven receipt for the j58 from last year and it was 1,350 usd. i think hotoveli was the cheapest but still over 1.1k

Sureal is correct that St Alfred had the best price for the first iteration of the j58. It was ~$800 all in shipped

It's a much better looking piece than I expected in person( E's choice of fit in the site didn't do it justice). Can easily layer something under it. The one thing that threw me off is that I had my 3a-1 on and was looking for the side zip but it didn't have it hahah. Also I don't really understand the point of the button on the middle of the jacket. I prefer it visually vs the j28 in my opinion.

Thanks for the thoughts on the jacket. I thought that the styling on the jacket wasn't so great; probably the sleeper piece as the j28 probably more hyped.

Surprised the j16 doesn't have the interops sidezip.

I'm confused by the Velcro shoulder detail and how much can be let out from the bottom of the jacket, but I'm sure it's sick.

Verdict on the j16-gt? Thinking of snagging that one; hearing that the j28 fit is a bit off. Never handled the original so could be the same fit.

  7. Does anyone know if the J58-WS has to be the same size as the shell its zipping into? Can I zip a medium J58 into a large J1A or are the zippers a different length?

you can zip into different sizes and it works fine. i zip my j58 medium into a j53 small and it works fine. the j53 neck zip is slightly longer than the j58's.

  8. It's finally winter here, so I had a chance to put my new J58/J56 combo to the test yesterday.

J58-WS: Really warm. Feels great to wear this in cold weather. The interior is super soft, it's not bulky and does a great job of keeping out the cold partly because of the elasticized bottom and unique cuff adjustments. Love the pocket placements and sizes.

J56-GT: For me, this is a really special jacket. I also have a J47-GT, that I love and wear all the time, but these are really different beasts. The J47 is a great quick throw on and go, low profile and very functional. The J56 is far more of a statement piece. The chest pockets are beautiful and highly functional. I was initially unsure of how they would look when full of stuff, but they look great. I had my phone in one side and a pair of gloves in the other and it still looks great. The button only front closure is a little slower than a zipper, but still fast enough, and it allows for many different approaches to wearing the shell. I love the combination of high tech and tradition in this piece.

Both together: This is a really magical combination. The zip-in mechanism is perfect and the two pieces mate amazingly well. Wearing the J56 slightly open, and using the J58 pockets looks and feels amazing. The only down side so far is that I can't figure out how to easily use the interops for my bag when the J58 is zipped in...

This makes me want another shell that the J58 can go into... maybe for FW17.

you make me want to buy the j56 now

  9. great write up on the j53; glad you got it and enjoy it! i really like it too [have yet to wear it yet - ha]. carlooa - what size did you end up going with? i typically take a M or sometimes a S and opted for a S.

the silhouette and the techsys webbing did it for me when i decided to pull the trigger. agreed that more pockets would've been ideal, but probably would have cluttered the entire piece. and ditto on the j58.

do the outlier mods work well with the techsys webbing? feel like going full acr on the attachments would break the bank and opting for something like the outlier mods or bagjack makes more economical sense plus looks generally acr-esque.

  10. i own the j46 from last season and it's great. i handled this fw's version and the hand felt different, seemed glossier and less "sturdy" if that makes sense.

the J46 is actually my favourite acrnm jacket precisely due to its subtle take on the classic trench coat.  i have the J46-S from last winter, which i basically wore all winter; couldn't wear anything else after trying it on.  if the insulation is the same, it's super warm and super versatile.  i've also tried on the J46-WS from this season, and found the sizing slightly looser then the -S version perhaps due to the material difference; personally i like the -S version better because of the 'structure' of the material.  i am 175m tall and size S fits perfect, even with layering under but its warm enough to not need too many layers underneath.

  11. i only tried on the j50-ws from last fw and the medium was pretty fitted on me and i'm usually an M [5'9" and ~155lbs]. i definitely would not have sized down to a S, but the L could have worked too.

almost had that jacket, but when i ordered it the shop shipped the wrong item and the jacket was sent to someone else :/

  12. I would love this jacket with a closure similar to the J46.  Another thing that bugged me was the horizontal line was jarring on the detached pockets, and really reminiscent of this year's SISP. Something about it made it look like a work apron. I think the more I look at it, the more I like the remainder of the jacket—save for the exposed zip placket.

On the one hand I really like that it's a big "fuck you" to utilitarian function/exultation of form, but on the other hand, the silver doesn't mesh well to me. The coat looks amazing open without the hood and the lapels up or the hood up. I mean look at Ian, looking like a Die Hard bad guy... I would really love if Errolson showed us interim designs to show the evolution or refinement of some of these jackets.

When I first saw the j53 via initial photos I was thought it was cool but didn't seem to be a must have (I also didn't know it was supposed to have a hood). When I tried it on I really liked it and some of the details like you mentioned such as the main zipper didn't personally bother me because of the way I would wear it e.g. Snapping a button or two on the placket which is how I wear the j47a and j43a; I never use the zip.

I ordered the j53 just now in a small and hope that it fits the way I want it to haha [originally tried on a medium]

  13. Any chance 3A-1s get restocked for the FW16 season? Looking to get a black foil bag and i'm not sure how past releases have been.

i'm hearing no bags this season and also next season
