  1. when fat chicks tell me i need to eat, especially this one at work... so im skinnier than your fat ass, does that mean i look hungry? smh

sadly no one is fat in america anymore.

  2. what do you do with your old clothes?

went through my closets last time i was back in my home country and donated a load of stuff to salvation army.. mostly from not wanting to have to deal with people on ebay.

  3. there's a certain romance to that.. also in the way that very few people are able to leave everything behind.

but to leave everything behind also means you don't have any way to protect your way of living when others want to attack it. like the guy in the video - no money to pay off the crooked company that removed brush on behalf of the government, probably not enough to hire a big shot lawyer.

if it's peaceful, it's all good.. but the world is really pragmatic.

  4. walking door to door everyday putting up door hangers for the pizza shop i worked at, it sucked seeing the "no solicitors" sign when I walked up to a house because it was one less door hanger to get rid of. after finishing 5000 i dont think no more than 100 from the area called within 2 weeks. and we offered free delivery too

yknow, with those handing out flyer type jobs..

what's to stop you from dumping like, a hundred flyers in the trash? always wondered that..

  5. worked service in a pool hall.. bringing food/drinks to/from tables, wiping down tables, racking balls and stuff.

boss paid less than minimum wage.. which is legal since it's a service position.. and took all the tips. paid us back enough of the tips to get us to minimum wage.

would call us in for 1-2 hour shifts, send people home early if business was bad, etc, no breaks.

probably worst boss rather than worst job.

  6. a while ago i read through all the pages of this thread because when i saw the title i thought 'oh i will find good suggestions for university/career path from people with somewhat similar sensibilities as me'

i found it really really discouraging, very few people actually seemed satisfied with what htey're doing and that post homi made about being well-read, worldly, etc. and unsure of career path sounded way too familiar to me.

people that are in satisfying position ended up taking a nontraditional path, i think.

its a bit of catch 22.. working corporate, i find that pretty much all my peers had some kind of thing they wanted to do when younger, but gave it up because of being practical.. most people past college never really are passionate in what they're doing, they either hate it or they tolerate it. work to maintain. you won't starve, but money is a strange beast. you can be making high 5s or low 6s, and look back to college days, and realize your life is not really materially different from earning more. to become "rich" in this country is very hard.

the alternative is all or nothing.. most people going after passion either starve or manage to grab what they wanted.. the latter is good.. but a lot ends up in the former.

a lot of the time, there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. there s no 'hidden point' that everything turns from bad to good. the grind is the reward. depends if that's what you want.
