  1. i should have mentioned this. i was on that site for a while just before this. not quite what i am looking for. maybe a little more rugged than those. good find though. best lead i have found so far.

  2. this is going to be vague but bear with me.

i saw marc anthony wearing a pair of dope boots in a picture from olympus fashion week in ny. no designer name or anything. and i dont know how to upload the pic.

but if anybody has a lead on some good boots that look like boots, not pointy or dressy or thin let me know. they look like a cross between work boots and dress shoes.

i know there have been forums on boots etc before but i havnt seen anything good.

  3. maybe this site is dominated by dudes because we find it necessary to beat a topic like this to death and bring statistics and marketing into it.

    im guilty too.

maybe i will try to find a girl dominated site where girls talk about their surprising but enjoyable lesbian experiences.

  4. hey guys. i wasnt being generic. i was serious when i said you are barking up the wrong tree saying it is black and white...men and women.

my background is marketing. people are brand loyal. men arent more brand loyal and neither are women. hispanics arent more than african americans.

yes. different groups may be more brand loyal to different brands but enough with these all encompassing statements.

think about brand loyalty and fit of clothing. brand loyalty and status. brand loyalty and geographic location.

**the brands we discuss on this site and the topics in general are more suited to men...holy shit: i am super surprised more dudes are on this site.

also-maybe as i said before-a lot of guys on here may not be very confident and may be looking more for advice and guidance.

  5. please retract the statement about guys loving logos plastered across their chest. you are the only one on this whole site that thinks that.

its not a guy thing or girl thing.

its a i give a shit and want to seek out interesting new stuff thing.

but i will say that there are a lot of kooks on this site benefiting from a hand full of people's knowledge and creativity.

  6. i agree with verb. i tailor all my pance myself. turn those bitches inside out and sew em. when they are laid flat you will vividly see the bootcut. start just above it and sew it down. it gets tricky at the bottom but just try to mimic how it originally looked by sewing twice

  7. here is my take:

i think shepard did something amazing by canvasing the countrty with his graphics. then i think someone with some $ saw an opportunity and licensed the brand for all intents and purposes. they could have gone higher end with more quality but i think they tried to straddle the action sports market.

so...had potential but i wont really rock it.

  8. i am skeptical. not just because of the price. the main thing to look for with tsubis is the +++++++ marks below the rear tag. also all of mine have tsubi written on the change pocket. also stitching detail on the zipper, pockets and a hem behind the knee.

hard to tell from the pic but it was missing some of these things. but that sku might be different.

  9. good point. i am not a crazy brand guy. i like a little street cred. something i didnt necessarily see on the oc or laguna beach.

by now i am really not huge about having logos on the exterior. so the design of the piece or the graphic has to speak for itself.

there seem to be brands that i feel like represent me. for everyone it is different. i like dior, tsubi, kim jones for umbro right now. and obviously not everything i own is super pricey. but i also own a woven line so i am real picky about t's.

  10. are you guys saying you want shit printed on american apparel t's? personally i dont. it has become way to easy to buy aa t's and come up with some bullshit grafix and say you have a clothing line.

the value of an aa t with a print on it is about $20.

but a c/s t, washed, with creative grafix, tags, good name $60-80.

i wear tshirts everyday. its like they have become such a staple that people forgor they were wearing them. how often do you notice a plain button down or sweatshirt? rarely. but see a dope t and it is stuck in your head all day.

  11. yes. this tshirt business is out of hand. its hard for me to stay motivated when bullshit like ed hardy is huge. but we will only create pieces we like with original art. i am wondering why people are lookign for design advice in this forum.

    as a designer you either:

design for the masses and want to try to get rich....or,,,,

you make what you want bacause you have a vision and you like it. when it sells you have mixed emotions because you are not sure if people really get it or if you yourself have begun selling to the sheep

  12. im from boulder-now living on southern california. i have more general advice:

everybody seems to want to be in advertising and marketing (thats what my degrees are in) but really the marketing jobs out there are sales. to get your foot in the door at a pr or advertising firm isnt impossible but dont plan on writing copy.

not to discourage but i have seen my friends go down that path. if your career is your #1 proirity i would recommend ny, la, sf, chicago, atl, mia. bigger internation scenes. but there are a lot of growing businesses in the denver metro area

  13. i heard ed hardy did $1.6 mil in one day. but that is probobly quite a bit of hype. either way they were moving product. i was stoked to write 30 stores. fuck-at least i still have my soul.

no bape i dont think. more like a cut off t on a short chubby guy.

i think our showroom is going to do project next year.

  14. yeah. overall it was just ok. a lot of the same shit. and i hope you werent complimenting ed hardy. yes a lot of commotion, no not cool shit at all. project was alright. we were in the platform area at magic. we did well but i think for these shows to continue to be successful designers got to dig deep for creativity.

the singer from good charlotte was hanging around magic where we were and people were just talking shit. then he tried to dj and played his own song. cmon.
