  1. apparently roppongi hills is redoing their men's fashion area

new stores include: undercover, soph, facetasm, n. hollywood, factotum, attachment, wjk, minotaur

    good idea? i don't know

i think these are all free-standing shops

If they are free-standing shops then harajuku fashion really has fallen off.

I can't see any of these brands fitting in with the hills-zoku cliente.

    N. Hollywood, WJK, and Soph maybe...

    Think its a horrible idea.

Now you can buy "rebellious" Undercover while waiting for your cafe latte to get made at the Starbucks next door.

    What a joke.

  2. i don't really 'get' asobi system, i originally thought it was just a record label for kyary and co but it seems to be way more than that? i passed one of their offices last year and it seemed surprisingly bland inside.

Its basically a powerful entertainment agency now. Think of it like Avex Trax or a Japanese version of YG Entertainment, etc. with businesses in online media, music, fashion, modeling, etc.

  3. herpsky I don't know who you hang out with but none of my friends in the fashion industry give a fuck about most fashion magazines these days.

Instagram is killing the print-media business hard. Along w/ Fashionsnap.com, WWDJapan.com, etc., although the later is just marketing bullshit to get likes, tweets, etc that the value of the content has critically gone down.

It's no wonder that Startoday bought Aratana (which manages Honeyee.com and Fatale.com).

Young steezy kids aren't buying/reading magazines.

They are more engaged in what their steezy friends are coping/wearing on Instagram, Wear, smart-phone/online media, etc.

Is it any wonder the former CEO of LINE left to start C-Channel (http://www.cchan.tv/) in conjunction Asobi System?

They already have 5 million in funding and will be launching a store in Harajuku.

  4. what's japan's equvalent of sufu? do they have any popular fashion forums? always wonder what's really going on at street level over there, what the consumers there are into, what they're thinking, etc. like i want to see actual discussion, what do cool japanese dudes think is going to be big next? what do they think is super wack? any interesting scoop on their industry? etc

    http://fashionpost.jp/

    http://www.honeyee.com/

    etc...

But to be honest shit is wack in Tokyo right now.

    All derivative BS.

    Nothing original.

I suppose TTT is getting some rep cuz he's cool w/ the Cannabis crew (showing exhibition for AW15 right now).

But its just a derivative of D.TT.K which is a derivative of 90s sportswear.

    Maybe the following???

    Son of the Cheese

    Facetasm

    Inari

    Def Mickey crew.

    TTT

    Hyke (ex-Greeeen designer)

    The Reracs

    Banal Chic Bizarre

But what the fuck do I know...

  5. My good friend used to be one of the head planners at CDG and worked closely with Rei Kawakubo.

The investment in Gosha is a political/power move in the face of what is going on in Russia in terms of sanctions.

CDG has a number of factories in Russia and needs to be able to maintain good terms with the government/people in high power/influence.

They have a major stake in the business and want it to succeed but the investment/support is also motivated by CDG's existing businesses in Russia.

  6. Steve Aoki starting his Dim Mak fashion line.

Then hosting a party in Aoyama's Idol.

    Was it really necessary?

Does society really need another black/white street-wear brand?

Will anyone give a fuck about Blackscale, Been Trill, etc in a few years time?

    I mean lets be real.

HBA is already feeling the effect of this.

  7. Anyone by any chance know someone selling this?

    CAV-UAL LIGHT COLLARED CREW

I own this in size Small. P.M. if you are interested...

  8. Hakuyosha's premium dry cleaning is pretty popular. From what I heard, a lot of folks take their grails to Cleaning Takimoto in Harajuku. If you own like an archival raf simons piece or something, that's one place you can trust. Don't know if it's open because they don't have a website. It's around the corner from the original UA.

i usually take mine to this local place near my house but when they see the labels, they usually know if it needs extra attention.
