  1. if you're looking for those labels, i wouldn't suggest melbourne as a shopping destination

although you will find something at someday

dakota 501 is on chapel st, the suburb is prahran

dakota also probably have melbourne's biggest range of adidas originals, the store on bourke st isn't actually an originals store

bape is virtually non-existant here, u may find some shoes and t-shirts in odd sizes @ evolve on chapel st for a small fortune

  2. from melbourne...

took a recent trip to sydney for the weekend, mannn i thought they played tsubi out over here, those bang gang fools are all over the place, everybody looks the damn same!

tsubi is definately overrated, they SOMETIMES can look good, but i'd rather pay that price for an italian, japanese or even american made jean than a piece of shit, overprocessed pair of pants those fools try to pass off! the quality of them is noooo where near what it should be...and for those ppl in london who are paying upwards of GBP 200 for them i feel sorry for you!

favourite australian labels? don't really have any worth mentioning (in terms of streetwear), NOBODY used to do fantastic things a few years back, i think they may have lost their touch of late tho, still make nice products tho! Pani also used to produce very artistic and well designed pieces in limited numbers a while ago, a litte more mainstream now tho.

in all seriousness, it is very hard to find an australian designed piece of clothing that stands out from the crowd in terms of originality. I think that aussie designers need to get off the 'trash bag' tip and realise its over!! there isn't much around here, and what you can sometimes find that looks original in our eyes, has usually been ripped off from some international label thinking that noone in oz would have any idea about it....

hate to rag on aussie designers, but really, i would rather take a trip to europe, asia or the states and spend my cash there!

  3. hi everyone,

ive been searching posts to see if i can find online retailers of edwin nashvilles and greenvilles, but no luck. I remember a while back someone posted a site where you could buy them but i cant seem to find it, so if anyone could post a site or two that would be much appreciated.

also, I've got a pair of edwin rainbows that i picked up from interstate when i was in london, does anyone know which cut in the japanese line would be closest to them? possibly slightly slimmer?

    thanks for any help!

  4. the tsubis are definately fake....never ever thought id see these jeans get copied....either way they are pretty bad rip offs!!

and about sale jeans never being below $150....thats not really true

a few years back the tsubi boys were in melbourne doing some sort of sale...and for a few hours in that day every single piece from their (then) current collection was selling for $50

...then again thats not really relevant to these jeans is it lol

  5. I went to selfridges the other day to get a pair of APCs but they were out of my size in the cut I wanted. THey stock two cuts of selvage denim there, a wider leg and a narrow(er) cut, does anyone know what the styles of these jeans are called? I was thinking of just ordering online instead.

Or besides Liberty, is there anywhere else that stocks APC in London area? Does anyone know where in Italy they are stocked if at all?

    thanks for any help :)

    cheers

  6. was wondering whats good around London... especially in terms of shopping destinations, when do the European sales start? When is the best time to buy?

Looking for anything from high end street wear, to dry selvage denim, to evening wear.. Basically if anyone could tell me shopping hot spots that would be great!

I've been told that designer outlet stores in Florence are where i should save money for....true? And as far as Italian shoes....italy would be the cheapest, followed by greece?

Im from AU so the GBP is gonna be a killer...posted this in superjetset but didnt get too many replies, hopefully some more from here! thanks guys!

  7. Tyrol, Im from AU too....and from what I understand is that Stussy AU is just a licence, or something similar, everything is designed down here just under the Stussy name....this, i think is pretty lame in itself.

Don't get me wrong, some of the stuff isn't all that bad, but then a lot of it is. so in answer to your question/comment, the 'cool' stussy that many people refer to is from the other side of the globe. Speaking of Globe, my mate used to work for Globe industries in North Melbourne who distribute a lot of those brands, Stussy, Mossimo, MONE11, Mooks, Globe etc, and from what I remember he told me that a lot of the design was done in house, he was in accounts and he said there were clothing designers working around him for all the brands.

  8. VERY helpful, thanks a lot guys. Yeh def will wait to get to italy for the shoes, but for jeans and stuff will check out the places you mentioned Paul. Lookin forward to the paul smith discount store and will check out Interstate and American Classics because im looking to buy a few pairs o selvage jeans - quality jeans are pretty hard to get in Melbourne, there are only a few places that even stock selvage dry denim. Apart from nudie, we've basically got a little bit of LVC and crap0la Evisu with prices currently through the roof. There are a few random pieces here and there but definately looking forward to london!!

Thanks for everyones input, appreciate it :)

  9. Yeh your right that was a little bit random

Is it possible that the reason for people buying stuff online is because they may not have access to it locally? those that actually want and care for authentic goods will make sure the store or seller online they are purchasing from is trustworhty and reputable, the kids that just want a bape tshirt because pharell is wearing one but have no idea what bape is or what its about will hit up ebay and grab the first thing they see.

having said all that, does it really matter what shit other people talk?

  10. Obviously the Tsubi look is not for everybody....their pieces I think heavily reflect what is happening (fashion wise) in Melbourne and Sydney, sometimes it doesn't translate too well when skipping countries.

Personally, im not that much of a fan....more because down here it has become so mainstream you would stand out more in a pair of target jeans, not that there is anything wrong with that. The quality of their denim also isnt that great, my sister has about 5 pairs and really....at AUD$280-380 a pair, you may be able to justify it depending on which model you choose.....but at the prices you're looking at from the US, i hardly think they are worth your $$$.

Having said that, I do find most of their stuff visually appealing, but when you see it so much you get sick of it.... and hearing what prices for these jeans are like in the US and EU, you are probably better off trying to get them from AUst!

  11. Hi Guys,

On June 7th im off to london for 2-3 weeks, then spain and italy till about the 10th of July, after that im heading to greece till about the 10-15th of august then back to the UK for another week and a half... It is also quite possible to visit Turkey for a day or two for leather jackets and jewelery....maybe some other things?

Now Ive been saving all of my money up for one reason, to blow it all when i get over there.

Can anyone give me the heads up on when sales start in the above mentioned places? Would it be beneficial to wait until I return to london to start buying stuff from there? Any hot spots/stores I should know about?

Basically looking for everything from high quality denim and street wear to casual evening wear and maybe a suit or two, and lots, and lots of shoes!!

Where would be cheapest to buy what? Im comming from Aust, so the GBP is going to absolutely kill me, so need to hang out (if possible) for sales etc.

Im pretty interested in checkin out some APC jeans in the flesh, want to know what all the fuss is about, also 5EP, Paul Smith etc. Really want to try and find a pair of those Paul Smith pointy converse look-a-likes and also after high quality italian made loafers/dress shoes etc. Im guessing shoes may be cheaper in greece and italy?

I know this post is a little all over the place, but if anyone can be of any help it would be much appreciated!

Also, if anyone can give an indication on price in GBP on things, such as APC jeans i guess, also much appreciated.

    thanks guys

  12. like circa said, two different models, although in my experience newer diesel jeans seem to fit a little bigger than older models.

example i have a pair of 32" waist kratts although im a 31" waist in zathan and the new 'Kuratt'. They also seem to vary in size from wash to wash. Ie. a Kratt 713 may be differnt to a Kratt 772, not likely to be a huge differnce, but if u can get around ur regular size you should be fine.

The Kratt model is a classic 5-pocket straight leg, medium rise and anti-fit seat, the leg is completly straight. And yeh those ebay jeans look real!

  13. wash them and whack them in a machine dryer for however long it takes them to dry (from wet, straight wring dryed from the washing machine).

Apparently the dryer is no good for denim, BUT if u need to shrink them, then it may be ur only option. From my experience, the longer they are in there the more they shrink, if they get too small, just wear them around the house unbuttoned until they fit again.

Sometimes this doesnt shrink them all that much, but sometimes it does, its really trial and error. ALTHOUGH, after a few wears they will more than likely return to their normal size.

    Goodluck with it!

ps. if some of the above doesnt make sense its because im dead tired and need sleep lol

  14. they look to me like Diesel Kratt in wash 713 (i think?)...with quite a bit of wear

don't think you'd be able to find them in any stores, you could try e-bay, but highly doubt it....they are pretty old and would be hard to come by

    really nice jeans tho!

  15. weiyung....most, if not all of the yen jeans (especially red label) on ebay are fake!

be careful with ebay and yen jeans, real orange label stuff comes and goes, but 99.9% of the red label stuff is fake!
