havin those alico tahoe boots from the other page!
russell walkers in brown and medium brown french veal and espresso navigator on the toe from a little more than a year on
as they were new
the two tone was a bit too rascal for my liking so i applied several light coats of watered down garment dye to the medium brown leather except for the collar.
art carters in chocalate veal for the non painting sessions

they're indeed scotch grain (these ones - http://www.oipolloi.com/trickers-stow-brogue-boot--espresso-scotch-grain-1) but after some time the grain around the front of the boot has really smoothed out.
do you use the trickers polish with yours? what shade if so?
i quite like the reddish colour coming out on the burnished pair you posted a couple pages back.

take the money you might spend on a beater road bike and get an internal geared hub for the ruffian.

you won't be able to go anywhere with those serras that you couldn't go with a pair of hightop sneakers. the sole is quite flimsy and the uppers are stripped down so they don't offer much support. they used to come with a disclaimer (perhaps still do?) of something along the lines of 'these shoes are not intended for hiking. do not use on the trail..'
the whymper boots, eiger (provided you change out the christy wedge) and possibly the moncler v ones are proper hiking boots.

honestly, thank you for the suggestions, but i'm looking for something that will be water/snow resistant and also be able to double slightly dressed up in those conditions as well,
so that i why i might be learning towards the retro fashioned old school look of the Danners II or Vibergs models
Paraboot Avoriaz
black and brown are standard, but you may be able to find some of the oki ni versions from a couple years ago on the cheap -

hmm. bit of a strange one that then. maybe just vary from season?

^The one you tried on was more than likely the Rain Shadow jacket and not the Torrent Shell.
Re Manilla Field Jacket: if it's the one from the first Veilance season, then yes it'll be just fine for winter with layers underneath. The following season (S/S) they did a LT version of the Field Jacket. Even that one can be worn throughout the year as it's still a three layer proshell.

hey true blue, i give you full marks for doing that to a pair of sda's. quite impressive, though they're starting to look like some bleached bootcuts now.
