  1. I've got some Albert Thurston suspenders. They work well with LVC 201s. So I recently got some Duckdigger 1900s, but the buttons are placed badly for the "Y" configuration of the Thurstons... yeah, the buttons are too far apart like in Nem's photo above. I think the diggers need a crossover config, but I'm not sure where to find that type.

I get confused between "braces" and "suspenders"... one of them is the elastic things the Brits used to hold their socks up.

  2. Has anybody ever said in the evo thread: "hey, nice broken threads?"

I think that the superfuture groupthink has taken over and people seem to be too pussy to have their own opinions.

Actually, I like the way the thread breaks and wears off the denim above the hidden rivets on back pockets.

And the way the arcuate thread breaks at the pocket edge, and on other folded seams.

  3. I don't know what the problem is.

Saying you want threads that don't break is like saying you want jeans that don't fade.

I also thought there was something about cotton thread shrinking when you wash - so you get crenulations on the seams and roping on your cuffs.

Do you still get shrinkage with poly cotton? poly core?

  4. Personally I like these.....

available from the amicable chaps at Hinoya

can anyone shed some light on the fabric???

ALso they have loads of different lines of jeans with lots of interesting options within,

Like these gorgeous Edo Aiesque 81000yen jeans!!!!

    Anyone knows anything bout these???

From the pic, I don't think those are 3x1 twill, I think it's 2x1. And they appear to have overlocked outer seams (no selvedge).

I've seen the 81,000 yen jeans. The colour looks great. The denim is soft like a dish cloth. I prefer crispy stuff - tightly woven.

  5. trinket! I wasn't sure if you were a poster here. good to see you sir!

oh and CD: +rep if I could... nice wear, looks promising :)

Hi Jubei. I try to post here sometimes. :-)

I got a bit lost in this thread. What was the conclusion on that guy's Diggers?

They're either 1920s with added waist buttons, or 1900s with added belt loops?

The Diggers seem to vary a bit in construction. My 1920s are from the Warehouse store in Osaka, and the cinch and belt loops are made from a significantly different piece of denim than the rest of the jeans. Also, online stores seem to sell them raw, but the Warehouse store had them all as one wash.

... because of these variations I wouldn't be surprised if that guy's Diggers are just another combination that Warehouse have tried.

  6. look... people pay to have stickied threads in our forums without it being known that they do... you think chucks vintage got stickied just because tweeds likes them??? if so, why wouldnt selfedge and blue in green have stickies?? this site is a buisness, and is owned by people who want to make money. they have the power to censor all they want, and as free users of the site there is nothing we can do except leave if we dont like it.

i, for one, welcome our corporate overlords.

Paid threads/stickies with censorship is a lame way to make money from a forum. It diminishes what makes the discussion forum good.

I want superfuture to make money, but there are better ways than selling-off the honesty and open discussion of the forum.

  7. Looking for something straight cut/loose fit in raw a la 45 rpm, Kicking Mule etc.

Have a look at AIKA at the far end of Oxford St.

Their top of the line denim is a slim cut, but the fabric is excellent.

  8. someone found a denim wrapped carefully in a newspaper at some warehouse of a drug store in cheyenne, wyoming. the denim was more than 50 years old, beautiful and oxidized, making the denim a bit reddish brown.

so they're trying to achieve the same quality here with this replica.

    Thanks Chicken. Sounds interesting.
