  1. Mine are button fly, and yes, I wipe my hands on them constantly.

I think the cut is not that disimilar to the APC new standard, but with way better denim. The rise might be too low for some, but it is perfect for me. They are very masculine looking with the bottom of the J stitch not seen from eye level. They would be perfect if the legs were a little slimmer, but these are Classics; the Rockers are slimmer.

I relly love rnrswitch's pair. I wich I could keep a pair of jeans that clean! All my jeans wear prety much the same way and I think I got a better fade on these than my Impereals, except for the holy cows/honeycombs.

  2. The Redmoons are still my weekend jean and they are finally starting to fade after a year. I am not going to start wearing them at work because I think they are a little too slim and "fashiony." They are my favorite jeans, the denim is the perfect weight and they have a perfect fit. My new work jeans are strange pair of Jean Shops that can be seen in the Jean Shop thread.

On the Jean shops here, the weft is natural color, so they have a bit of a dirty denim look to them, but yes, they are a little filty in a very even way. I machine washed them a couple of times, but is very difficult to get them to clean evenly. So they look best after at least a couple of weeks after a wash.

  3. I just got a new pair for work on Ebay for $90. They are very strange. They are a light weight denim mens classic fit with a zipper and the heavier weight rivets I have seen on Rockers. The denim looks like 1 X 1 weft for warp. On most jeans the weft is thicker than the warp, bu on these they are the same thickness. It looks like the back side of chambray. I really like light weight jeans, so I think I will be happy with these.

  4. I would much rather spend the night in Healdsburg than anywhere in the Napa Valley. I don't recommend driving over that hill after a day of tasting in Napa though! Sonoma County is much more hip and has a lot more young folk compared to Napa, where cheesyness prevails. There are a ton of incredible wineries in Russian River, Dry Creek, down to Sebastopol, and even in Marin. Tasting is more fun there because the wineries are typically smaller. It is roughly the same distance as Napa too.

  5. ROLO has had Jean Shop for about two years. These pants are cool. I saw some like them in half selvage by Rag and Bone in LA. I didn't get them though because I got my non-denim fix in a pair of Paul Smith pants. I do want those Rag and Bones though. Has anyone see them online?

  6. Yeah, the beaches are swarming with noisy obnoxious tourists. You have to spend over $250 a night to get away from British soccer fans singing at the top of their lungs at 3:00 am. Bangkok is so much fun. We loved staying in the financial district. Khao San Road is a shit hole full of arrogant tourists. There is great food everywhere in Bangkok, everyone is friendly and speaks English, and the sky train is very convenient (and far from Khao San Road). The city is VERY noisy due to mortorcycles and tuk tuks. We didn't sleep for a couple of days, untill we went to 4 star hotels.

The red light district is so much fun. There is a Mexican restaurant there that I recommend. Bed was full of cheesy 40 year olds when I went and the DJ was spinning late 90's prog house. But the place is amazing. Good sound and architecture. We went to another club around the corner that was the same scene. RCA is where Astra is. It is where all the local kids hang out. I felt a little old there at 30 and my wife and I were the only farang.

  7. They look like a pair of small e levis with a big E tag. I bet that is what they are. $1000 is also too much. Big E levis (and a lot of SS small e) will usually have a yellow thread on the vertical (non -j stitch) fly seam. Also, the belt loop stitches are usually a peach color. there are no pics of the coin pocket, but the vertical stitches should be yellow. That said, these are 6 top button jeans which are the worst of the big e's in my opinion. I like 2's.

Also, the paper tag usually says 501-0217 in that era

  8. Those are nice, who made the zipper? Is it a Talon? They stopped using selvage for the 505 in the way early 70's. I am assuming that they are double stitched because they have a 3 digit top button. How much did you get them for? I recently got a pair of SS 517 that are amazing for $11.

  9. Serge, did you size down on those Jean Shop's?

Never a big fan of the orange stitching, but they fade beautifully. Well done.

I wish there was more bright orange stitching, it reminds me of the 40's and older levis which have this great copper color after they fade. I have the worst story about these jeans. I had to sen them back 3 times and it took 5 months for me to get them, With all the return shipping they cost me about $300. Their sizing is so fucked up and they wont admit it. I tried to have them measure them over the phone before sending them. They were adamant that the 32 (which measured 37") measures 32! I ended up getting size 29. I wanted rockers but ended up with classics. Oh well, they are good work jeans, really expensive work jeans. I could have bought 2 pair of my favorite jeans (red moon 201) for the cost of them ( not including the the flight to Japan!)

  10. I have always loved and collected Levis RED because I love what they are doing. They take classic levi's designs and exaggerate them. This current line to me is a caricature of orange tab levis from the late 60's. They have taken those elements and exaggerated them. I see a lot of 606 super slim in the jeans I posted. The jeans with the long pockets are an exaggeration of orange tab levis too. They also have the exact same fly, exaggerated bartacks and no rivets like orange tabs. I think it takes a lot of balls and money to create these designs which are totally original. The other ones posted later with the suspender buttons are clearly inspired by 1930s depression era levis. The first line (in hemp selvage and natural indigo) was based on the handmade jeans from before the turn of the century. Whether you like them or not, Levis deserves a lot of credit for producing the RED line and continuing in the tradition (since 1996) with ground breaking stuff, which is basically wearable art. Every time I see the new line it is totally unexpected. It is available for a season and that is it. No other denim company on EARTH does that! This is not to be confused with the cheaper RED line that they replaced the true red line with in the US which is bullshit.

  11. warehouse should sue levis for copying its duckdigger pockets..

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Warehouse founded its WHOLE BUSINESS off ripping off levis. Back in the day, Warehouse were the closest you could get to the real deal.

  12. They are not greycast, but they grey-up really quickly after a wash from dust and filth and what not. I obviously rub my hands dry on my legs A LOT, it is definately a major characteristic in all the jeans I have broken in. I will post my APCs from long ago again soon. I wore them when I painted a couple of rooms. They look much better than the Helmut Lang paint splatter jeans!
