  1. finally here are the images... i got an hour to spare before zooming to SFO airport soon tonight so don't really have much time to make them little underexposed as they're little overexposured...

technically, i'm a teacher so i couldn't wear my jeans while teaching. so, instead, i'd just commute in my jeans only between home and work. i guess that elaborates why my calf part look sooo dayum clean!

nevertheless, you guys put up a great show! i'll still continue to wear my jeans till i feel that they're retired...

2 soak, 3 washes, 1 bike accident, 1 button holes repair,

now off to air, air, air to NYC!!! will be rockin' those jeans to nyc's self edge soon next week!

  2. i know that this is waaaaaaaaay overdue as i've been swamped with my double duty life - teacher and student. i'm already looking forward to this summer already!

this was taken last week and since i wasn't allowed to wear blue jeans while teaching, i've managed to wear mine only during commute time via pedaling...

here's the lone image that i took last week and i'll take more pictures for the final shots on april 1st..

3 soaks and 3 washes; button holes repaired via SE.

and i don't even have time to catch up this LOOONNG LOST THREAD, but i'm sure that you guys are rockin' real hard in those DB jeans.

  3. 6+++ months - update under natural lighting from cloudy days... 2 soak, 2 machine washes.

i tried my best not to alter the colors, but it seems like the last photo and the 2nd photo are little different... i think it might have to do with my DSLR's choice of shutter speed though my back pcokets are definitely much lighter than the front ones.

now that i'm teaching, my supervisor has advised me not to wear jeans, so my daily of wearing this SFxDB have been doomed, but I tried my best to wear them off-hours for bouldering and socializing...

I wanted to show this to show the differences in colors and dirt between outside and inside jeans. I was in Yosemite a couple weeks ago, so dirt has been accumulating on the thigh parts. I think this photo matches the best of all.

anyway, you SFxDB users, nice job of updating your jeans...

  4. just recently washed my jeans for the first time last night and hung it dry... so here's the results in an overcast weather at a home (i live in a 415 area so it's always foggy here)...

i haven't even worn the jeans yet today as it's still little damp. the colors came out great after my yellow reek came off the jeans! hopefully it'll shrink the hip pointers back to its original state... i'm actualy thinking of sewing the red tag to the rear pocket once the green stitches are worn off completely...

    beatle: thanks...

  5. 4 months or so... had to post photos since i plan to wash soon since my darling said she could smell my human reek while sitting next to me... ;-)

^^^^ this one was adjusted as i had taken this photo underexposed, but it was too dark so i tried to overexposure it but it lost some colors... nevertheless it makes up a great shot i think...

these photos taken yesterday on an overcast day in my home...

also, my hip side have been stretching considerably (even though the thigh part do not... wish thigh stretched more than my hip side...) once i wash it, hopefully it'll shrink back. been bouldering often in this jeans so lots of weird movements on this jeans.. as well as some abrasions with rock, too...

anyway, keep up the wonderful work, guys! the jeans are looking good...

  6. the thing that's motivating me to keep these and wear them out is... i'm not going to wash them until this thing is over. i'm on some nudie shit. it's ok though, these are just my lounge-around-the-house jeans. also been wearing them for the summer, since it's been 95 degrees or higher every day for the past two months in florida. just started actually wearing them a few weeks ago.

i've been wearing my SFxDB ALMOST daily for the past 4 months and haven't washed it yet. i'll just start washing when my darling actually starts to complain of its horrible smell. i think it'll probably be at the end of the summer or so.

  7. i wasn't even informed about this new thread for the contest as i thought that the other thread would do the trick...

i don't hang out in the SF as much as i'd like to as i'm always on the run around!

so would you do the honor of adding me in? ;-) i have photos already in the other thread...

  8. cross over from sugar cane denim thread...

ok.. here are the photos and i think this is like 2-3 wash in about 16 months... this pair has had good life in africa, china, japan, as well as camping out in the forest/desert. this pair will hibernate for a year or so as i'm going to start wearing my SExDB09 pair soon.

  9. just took pictures of 'em recently and you know that shooting during the evenings do not do justice well based on the blue hues... also, i just wore 'em while camping in bishop recently and it's filled with campfire aroma... gotta love 'em!!!

i'll try to re-take the fit pictures sometimes soon when i have time...

actually, i've never owned a pair of hawaii so i'm not quite an expert on this one... but i can assure that okinawa is one of my favorite jeans of all based on its feel and comfort. this is my 'loose' jeans.

  11. need to post my 'evo' okinawas someday soon here as i think it's retiring soon. i've worn this for more than 16 months and my wife just recently sowed up a hole in my right front pocket due to heavy use of getting coins from there for bus rides...

  12. Looks like you're wearing your jeans fairly high...

I had to bend my legs to take that picture of the patch as my camera was set on a self timer, thus my waist looked bit loose...

the jeans is hugging just beneath my hip bones and it does feel like that i may be able to pull this jeans off without unbuttoning once it's stretched... that's one thing that i'm concerned about...

  13. now that you guys have told me to stay with this fit... i'm like 75% satisfied with this post-soak/heat dry... one thing that bugs me is the waist size which is still little loose, but everything is perfectly perfect!

here's the images in post soak/heat dry and it's still little damp....

You can see that my jeans' waist is bit loose in the back nevertheless, that patch looks soooo dayum sweet...

thanks for the advice, guys... now, i just need to find the right belt that wouldn't bug me while climbing.

off to climbing soon today with the jeans!

  14. nope -- with a hot wash and hot dry, my waist shrunk 2 inches. though most people won't opt for using the dryer, a hot soak and line dry will probably only net you about an inch of shrinkage.

for dryer heat, i use the maximum heat setting (just for the purpose of shrinking unsanforized denim.) throw in a few dry towels (that you don't mind getting indigo stains on) to prevent creasing. 15-20 minutes should do the trick. works like a charm. here's how the patch looks afterwards -- contorts it a bit, but nothing drastic like soaking in 80 degree celsius water :-P

    patch.jpg

oooohhh.... very nice... just one little concern... the waist may stretch one inch after many wears, so the worst scenario is that the waist will be loose by 2" from my true waist size... that's why i'm thinking that i'd need to find a good belt for this one...

thanks for sharing though! sad that you're selling this... :-(

  15. i would not size down on those. keep in mind the denim isn't sanforized. the thigh does shrink about 1/3 of an inch. the waist shrinks 2".

well, if it does shrink to 31 in waist, it would leave me only 1 inch of gap... guess i'll just look for an aged leather belt for this one!

thanks for the suggestion... guess i'll keep this one and go for hot soak and hot dry (how hot should i heat in the dryer?)

  16. here is it in my pre-soak:

i'm having second thoughts about downsizing this nice pair of jeans that i purchased a few days ago at SE's shop. even though my true waist is 30, i got a size 31 as i talked with this clerk (i'm sorry i forgot your name... it's been awfully too long since i last saw ya.. but i know it's definitely not derek..) about climbing. i've decided to climb in this one as much as i can in a year and the thigh part is kinda pretty tight (got thick thighs from being athletic.. i'm almost 6' and weigh 165 lbs) when i squat and squat is part of climbing.

i'm just concerned that after 20 wears, the jeans would stretch considerably. so think size 30 would be best fit for me? i found the waist 31 size to be huge for me... it feels like a 34 for me with a big gap in the back. or should i keep it and go for hot soak with hot dry to get the maximum shrink in waist or just exchange for size 30 and go for cold soak??

kiya, i can stop by at the shop today (sunday) at around 11 am if you're open at that time to exchange (i'm like 60% sure that i'm going to downsize this one..)

  17. just got back home from work and just wondering what's the status on the raffle drawing? i'm wondering if i'm in the raffle after purchasing my seXdb09 jeans at SE a few days ago? i'm too dead exhausted to go to SE's tonight... and i'll be out of town again tomorrow, so won't be able to attend tmw's party as well... boo hoo.. hope everyone had a blast earlier tonight and of course, need to see some pixes of all sf'ers...

  18. yo kiya..

i have a SExIH01BK and it fits me real tight especially in the thigh part, so would a 30 on this one fit me little loose? I'm looking for a loose one instead of the skinny look. i guess i'm trying to replace my sugar canes as the daily jeans.

i know that you told me to get a 30.

LMK...thanks and great seeing ya earlier...
