  1. On the serious side though, there is no way in hell that "superproducer Solar" didn't write that letter. Guru was someone who crafted his words carefully, he would never have released his final message to the world containing such terrible writing... not to mention wasting his last words on petty beef.

“My loyal best friend, partner and brother, Solar”

"my loyal best friend, partner, and brother, Guru!"

GTFOOHWTBS! RIP Guru, I hope Bumpy Knuckles finds Solar and gives him what he deserves.

  2. They stretch like crazy too, so take that into account as well. It's also really important to take the thigh measurement into consideration, if you size down to get the waist right you may end up with a skin tight fit on your thighs

  3. A quarter inch is not that big of a difference in rise, but if you aren't rail thin the 1/2 inch in the thigh and slight taper really makes the 013 cut way more wearable. I could never get with PBJ before the 013 but I've had mine for about 2 months now and absolutely love them.

  4. This is what the BiG blog says about the 013 in comparison to the 005

"We decided to tweak one of their most popular models, the XX-005, with some minor adjustments to the overall fit and detailing, most notably tapering of the straight leg. The front rise was shortened by 1/4" while the back rise was shortened 1/2" and the upper thigh was widened a 1/2" to balance out the top block."

They also changed the stitching up a bit to make it sturdier. I would imagine the 011 is closer to the 005 in construction.

  5. I'm so psyched to see the Specials tomorrow, I haven't been so excited for a show in years...

  6. I think they look fine as well, they'll stretch in the right places. Sufu has changed it's fit standards a lot, 2 years ago that was pretty much the ideal fit people were looking for. The "classic americana" look is the new goth ninja for sure...

  7. Boston's municipal regs. ban all blades > 2.5". So who can recommend me a nice, sub 2.5" bladed, one hand opening folder? Currently have a Buck Nobleman Ti that my wife put in my Xmas stocking a couple years ago. It's decent, but not that nice.

I'm thinking a Spyderco Dragonfly with G10 scales. Anything else I should consider? Leafstorm would work but kinda pricey...

I just posted a few weeks ago because I was looking for a knife with the same specs for NYC. I looked at the Dragonfly, Ladybug and a few others, but I ended up going with the Boker Keycom, Great little knife, blade is 1.5 inches and it fits in your pocket perfectly. And you can get it for around $20-$25 shipped in the US. I highly recommend it.

  8. While we are soliciting recommendations, I'm looking for a knife I can pocket carry here in NYC so I've been thinking about either the Spyderco Ladybug or Persistence. Anyone have any thoughts about one over the other, or have another very small folding knife they recommend?

  9. People overstate the problem of your "stacks and combs" moving, it's not like they are going to move 8 inches. The stacks are still at the bottom of your legs, and the everything else will move an inch or inch and a half at most. If you really don't want to soak the jeans will not combust, so do what you wanna.

That said, it's still a very good idea to give them a soak to get some of the starch and sizing out of the denim, if you don't you will increase the likelihood of rips and tears happening.

  10. I wouldn't necessarily say that an Alpha Industries for Supreme field jacket is the best available, but it's definitely better than a standard Alpha Industries field jacket.

    .

This is definitely true for the N3B parka I have from a few years ago. The Supreme is better fitting and generally nicer than the Alpha it replaced. It was also more expensive, so it should be.

  11. I just got a pair last week, really liking them a lot so far although they are a fair bit slimmer than the Sam 500's I was wearing before. These have some beautiful denim though, and the cut is great, Gordon did an excellent job tweaking the 005.

  12. BIG is just way more New York than SE, they leave you alone and let you do your thing, but if you have questions they are super knowledgable and friendly. I like the fact they aren't all in your grill with the "Hi! How are you!" stuff. People in this thread sound like the kids complaining that Supreme isn't friendly on ISS.

No hate towards SelfEdge implied here, BTW.

  13. No polo shirts either, weird.

I thought so too but there's always more stuff than what gets shown in the preview, prolly come out later in the season as the weather warms up.

I was disappointed with the outerwear pieces, I was hoping for a nice technical spring jacket but I guess that's not really the direction they're going. And they really ruined a couple of things with the oversized branding (Utility Parka and Champion Coach, I'm looking in your direction).

Lee Perry is an inspired choice though.

  14. I just don't like the exposed rivets for the same reason I don't like cinch-backs, it looks too rustic and old-timey to me. That look is fine if you are doing a completely rustic, old-timey pair of jeans from top to bottom, but I thought the original idea for these was to have a more modern styled jean, just with LHT denim. As it is it's a mish-mash of things I like and things I don't, so I'll probably sit it out, which is disappointing, but these details just don't suit the way I dress.
