  1. I was wondering if anyone knew where i could pick up some 2nd hand/vintage/retro Casio watches like 1980's data banks or g-shocks? i was thinking i may be able to find some around Mong Kok or Yau ma Tei area. But if theres anyone here who may know any better i'd be thankful. cheers.

    try the usuals

sino mall/ centre whatever its called in Mong Kok

    Oriental 188 mall in Wanchai

maybe try aap liu street near Mong Kok... i dont know the name in english but its like a whole street of radioshacks.

  2. ^ I don't think they have a website jcotteri. when I was there early this year they had japanese brands like lounge lizard, lad musician and pledge, from memory the markup was pretty steep though.

markup not as bad as A though. If you manage to go during sales they reduce up to 50%. at 70% off i picked up the horse leather beanie last year that ended up being half the price of it at A.

brands i remember at medium rare:

    viridi anne

    pledge

    lad

    siva

shit theres 2 more that just slipped my mind. general japanese stuff but they pretty much cover the full range of hats per season.

  3. I dont know if I'm travelling at a really bad time (mid oct), reserving too early or too late or what, but even the W at Union Sq seems to be $500+, just like all other similar hotels

i don't know what's going on in September, but when i booked the weekend of July 4th things worked out pretty well. come to think of it, whenever i book W i tend to do it when ppl are going home etc so that might be it. did you check the starwood official website?

oh W union sq is also just a stone's throw from ippudo and st marks for food :D

  4. probably get flamed to shit for saying this but my 2 cents:

i actually like the W hotels. i've stayed in a whole bunch of boutique hotels in nyc and the 300$ price range and honestly, the grass isn't greener on the other side. i like their bliss products but more importantly, they have great deals on the website. you can book like 1 week in advance and they still give you "buy 2 get 1 free" deals. perfect for a weekend, as it comes out alot cheaper. secondly, if you're spending time in manhattan, the W in union square has great metro stops. The one off of 3rd Avenue and 50 is close to good food (and Urban Centre books and Barneys)

starwood points are also awesome to rack up. if i'm ever in the city with the girlfriend i'd just stay there honestly, just rock solid and doesn't tend to fail, though it doens't provide anything fresh.

  5. A bunch of stores opened up recently

    Demeulemeester

    Margiela

    Mihara Yasuhiro

    D-Mop

all have shops behind Joyce in Central on On Lan Street.

Undercover has a pretty neat shop too.

Granville Road, and just off it, Rise Mall, in TST might yield some surprising cheap local stuff.

Pacific Place Lane Crawford has a more interesting selection of clothes than the IFC one, carrying Viridi-Anne, Lad Musicican, Attachment and LUC.

I.T. Pacific Place and Causeway Bay carries Margiela and Julius

Medium Rare (small boutique) in Causeway Bay also carry some of the Japanese brands listed above.

I don't think the above has been mentioned in any HK threads yet, sorry if redundant.

  6. Tried ivy noodle. they are skimp with the meat.... what do you like at ivy noodle? i'm actually chinese myself but wasnt impressed by the beef noodle i had yseterday. planned to keep it simple but it was sub par. still cheap tho =)
