  1. Although selvege seams are much neater and beautiful from an aesthetic point of view, I think the 'hype' is more about raw, unwashed jeans. More and more people want to 'customize' the look of the jeans by starting with raw denim, and the majority of selvege is raw denim. I think 'selvege' and 'raw' are synonomous to the denim newbie, and the ability to 'wear-in' your own denim is the attribute that is appealing, not necessarily the side seam.

  2. It's not about 'need', it's about having something that is the 'best'...if you have the money. No one 'needs' a V12, no one 'needs' a Lear Jet, no one 'needs' premium grade 92 octane gasoline....

One of the more ignorant thing I've read. Does that mean a person can't wear Jordans if they don't play basketball, or you can't wear a Polo shirt cuz you don't ride a horse and hit a ball with a long mallet.

    Clueless maybe?

The fact is that these days (past 10 years actually) skating is hip. It grosses me the fuck out because it's getting raped and the branding circus is out of control. It's different than basketball or polo. If you don't understand the world of skateboard branding, trade shows, etc. don't bother to speak on it.

I understand the skate-branding, DIY, make-something-outta-nothing steez and how people gravitate toward against the grain mentality. I'm just saying people should be able to rock what they want regardless of reason. I don't skate, I rock Diamond cuz I get that shit for free. What.

  6. Oh...then I'd agree with you, but I think it's kinda dope if done in moderation (as in only a few color combos and not full out rainbow).

On a side note, I hate it when people wear beanies when it's still fuckin hot outside!

  7. Yo, just because a pair of jeans is selvage doesn't mean it is higher quality. I think that has been established in past threads also. It's not the brands' decision to sell a pair of jeans for $50, it's the retailer's decision. Just about every piece of clothing ever made is overpriced--the demand for that product is the only factor that either sustains it's percieved value or causes the product to be sold at a price beneath its market value. It doesn't really have anything to do with the actual quality of the product. It's up to us as consumers to educate ourselves and decide if something is 'worth' its price.

Not defending Da'Mage jeans cuz I wouldn't buy them for $50 bucks anyway.

  8. If the jeans are prewashed, they shouldn't really shrink at all if you wash then line dry. The jeans should probably fit true to size if they are prewashed, but if they are raw, unwashed denim, they should shrink down to the waist size on the lable.

If you put them in the dryer (not recommended) they will probably shrink a little but will stretch back out after wearing them.

    Hope that all makes sense.

  9. They also had a few gravis bags, books, magazines and their own tshirts. Not too much stuff. The site is the400.net but not all the sections are complete. The staff is really nice and helpful. They offered us food and drinks the first time I went in. They don't seem like a true 'sneaker boutique', I feel like they are trying to be more of an artists' shop.

I think they also had some Adidas. I hope they plan on getting more shoes. I'll try to go in the next couple weeks and get an update.

    Yo Pancho, you in Denver?

I went to the400 the week it opened. The shop is pretty dope, but the sneaker selection is kinda weak. They had a few pairs of Creative Rec, a couple Japanese 577 New Balances, Gravis, and a couple Vans and Pumas if I remember clearly. Anyway, there was only like 10 different pairs of shoes total! All the artist designed Gravis were alread auctioned off, so was the artwork. I hope the shop survives.
