  1. The little satchel / purse from a few years ago remains one of my all-time favorite items of any category (likely above most of my clothes and boots, even); it’s with me all the time Had to do a first round of repairs, recently. Some holes were forming around the bottom so I patched it up with some of the canvas leftover from hemming my older pair of Roy’s Foreman pants There was some really nice lighting today so I took a few photos. I love how many different colors are present in different areas of the bag from different sorts of wear (sun, abrasion, indigo crocking…)

  2. Sometimes you think that ship as sailed...and then you stumble across something on Yahoo 😅 First I didn't recognise what it was exactly. So I ignored the listing. Then I saw it again and it dawned on me that this is something unique. You can have a guess if you like 😁

  5. Drove down to see the eclipse in totality in Salem, Indiana last week before adventuring in the Great Smoky Mountains for a few days. Any pictures you have seen do not do this celestial event justice. If you ever get the chance to see it take it. My camera could not capture it at all but my gods it was fucking spectacular. But I did manage to get a few fit pics. *Big hat *Thrashed bandana bolo *Orphan vest *Levi's LVC "What are Stars" tee *Vintage tea core belt *Turquoise pin *Mister Freedom Outlaw double black *Vintage Sears/ACME Thunderbird Cowboy boots Best I could do with my shite phone. The below shots were taken just minutes apart. Animals got weird. Temperature dropped. Street lights came on. The stars came out. You could hear a pin drop among the people crying and whispering. Her face says it all. Not my photos but this is pretty close to what we saw. Mind blown.

  8. Damn, you are right! Didn't check my Tokyo model. So it's still some kind of detail for special models. The leather of the patch also seems to be different to the standard models. But no idea what animal it is from. Measurements: W36 Waist: 36.5" Front rise: 12" Back rise: 16" Thighs: 14" Knee: 9.5" Leg opening: 9" Inseam: 35.75"

  14. Some Levi's LVC cone 501zxx and hemp blend 501 Regular 501 stf and 501xx stf Selvedge 514 ^Back of the selvedge on the hemp pair that I thought was a little interesting Cone 501z are like 10 years old but haven't gotten around to them until recently. Hemp Pair is from October. STFs are a ~10' pair and a ~00' pair. 514 are probably like 12 years old and even with many, many washes the denim still looks raw in its darkest spots.

  17. SOA03XXD-0823 pre-ordered from Barnstormer at the end of October 2023. The parcel eventually arrived, at the end of March. The jeans look a little different to the previous OA models. Waiting for the rainy weather to end so I can soak them and dry on the yard. Will probably wash at low temperature after that, the look and feel is tough.

  18. Just got my pair back from being hemmed by Indigo Proof. I will say it feels a little strange wearing a war era pair that's so neatly constructed, but I'm enjoying wearing them so far.

  21. You should go. Yen at 154… absolutely ridiculous. I’m totally fucked by that but please enjoy. just note, that all tourist spots you’ve ever heard of are so insanely overcrowded with European and American tourists. I’m talking about 50% plus of the foot traffic is actually foreign. Probably not the Japanese experience people are looking for. But everyone has the same idea and that’s what it is. I’d stay away from that.

  23. I finally found an Orrizonti era WWII pair. Denim has a completely different weight and feel from 66 and XX. Curious what you know of this pair BF. Awesome details, wonky pocket shape with my dream of a shorter rise to round out a perfect-for-me 40s fit. And yes there is a bit of aging on the denim from sun and rubbing on creases.

  27. Yup $800 is the threshold. I feel like I've just gotten lucky, I've never explicitly requested lower invoice prices from any shops.

  28. My Libra Pondus have arrived. The story of the order is full of unusual details. The packaging in Japanese paper and metal box to store and protect the kimono is unique in itself. Not to mention that Isamu san's blog features quotes from Schopenhauer and Goethe... 🙃

  30. Many thanks for sharing your thoughts! I actually I didn't know the brand until DC4 in Berlin had these in store, and as a lover of high waisted, wide straight legs jeans, which are still hard to find and often at a prices I wouldn't pay, thinking of Fullcount, Dawson or At Last & Co, I was happy to find Oni. Their other cuts are not my thing either.

  31. Agreed with everything that’s already been said, but also (& maybe most importantly?) their patterning is absolutely terrible. I spent enough time on r/rawdenim to see more than my fair share of ONI fit pics, and they look bad on every body type, pretty much across the board—like in the same league as N&F. Almost no one manages to make them look like a good / natural fit.

  32. I got made redundant about 6 months ago after 20+ years at the same company (I've got a new job, start next week) and the downtime between roles has been great! I had to make a rule of no PlayStation till after 2pm though or I'd still be in my dressing gown playing games on the sofa when the wife got in from work!

  33. Hope y'all have been doing well, been a bit busy lately as I was interviewing and landed a new job! I turned in my notice last week and my boss (of almost 6 years) told me to hit the road so now I've got a bunch of time on my hands until my start date. Any hobbies I should pick up in the next month?

  34. What about the opposite? every denim jacket I’ve had was too long in the arms. By the time it fits me in the chest the arms are so long that my fingers barely peak out. To me it seems they are mostly cut for slim frames. Especially all Japanese brands.

  35. Not too often I've a record of myself made by someone else but my friend got me over the weekend in a FW Tux. jacket is the s516xx and 601 1951's I just posted in the FW thread.

  36. S601xx 1951 with probably about 6-7 months of real wear. Didn’t wash until about 3-4 months, quite frequently after that. I think this is a better denim to wash a lot. Not the one you want for really defined fades (good with me!). The puckering one the yoke is my favorite probably.

  39. Here are some details for the TCB Cat's Drive in size 31. Waist:15.25" (stretched to 15.5" after trying on and a bit bigger still after wearing for a bit) Front Rise: 12" Back Rise: 14.5" Thigh (at crotch): 12.4" Knee (rough judgement): 9" Leg Opening: 8" Inseam: 33" (hemmed at factory) Out of the box, they are super stiff, much more than the TCB 50's new. On paper, the measurements are nearly identical to my size 31 Warehouse Duck Digger 1001xx 1947, but the fit of the TCB feels much slimmer, especially in the hips and seat. The top block (really from mid-thigh up) almost reminds me of Samurai S211VX (which I'm also on the fence about selling off), but the taper is much more gentle from the knee down. In terms of sizing, I ordered 2 sizes down from my 50's because they were sold out of 32 when I ordered and I figured that my 50's were maybe a 1/2 inch too large anyway. I'd be curious how they would fit in a size up, but I feel like the pattern is designed to be worn slim and these technically do fit in the waist. Like @alecleamas, I feel like these may be a bit too slim and tapered for my present 1947-1955 taste, although they are certainly less slim and less tapered than contemporary "relaxed tapered" cuts. There are a lot of words here, but I find it strangely hard to describe how these fit. I really like some of the details on these, but I'm a little unsure whether I like the fit enough to keep. I will wear them for a bit to see how they relax. The wide set back pockets are pretty cool and flattering in my opinion. Both front and back pockets are tiny though, too small for a modern cell phone and almost even for a wallet. The denim is much greyer in appearance than the 50's denim, although it's a bit hard to capture on camera. The denim also has some interesting character - the left hand twill is very soft and smooth but there is some roughness (and maybe some nep?) as well. I feel like it will probably age pretty well. The stitching feels a bit sloppier than on my 50's, especially along the pocket bags where the stitches are not aligned (see detail shot near end of photos), but that may be by design. The rayon inside label is a bit confusing as it says "Sanforized Shrunk", but Ryo told me that they were actually unsanforized. Puckering and roping feels much less than on my new 50's too and the yoke is almost flat.. Coupled with the stiffness I almost wonder whether they are sanforized, non-wash - may have to check with Ryo again just to verify. The fly is gloriously long and I really like the buttons. The fit has actually relaxed a bunch within an hour and they ride up much less in the back. I may give them a full day or two of wear to see how they break in before deciding whether to release them.

  40. ONI 546 in 22oz with Kabuki selvedge. The last pair of heavy denim with contrast fades I had before moving towards lighter repro styles and looser fits in recent years. Truly a stunning denim. Probably a couple of years wear here and a few washes.
