SInce there are plenty of models available (or were at one point) and we already have some discussions in various threads, I thought, it would be fun to have a dedicated thread to the 30s cinch back models to share fit pics, fades and the different models of the various makers. According to TCB it is differentiated roughly between the early, mid and late 1937 models. These are the main difference of the models as our resident scholar on this matter Dr Heech had written before here: "Lvc 1937 at the bottom, Csf 1941 in the middle and FW42's at the top. Both the repro 37 and 42 models have the standard yoke set up, whereas the pair in the middle do not. The standard yoke set up is what we are used to seeing on 501's made from August 1942 up until the present day which sees the bottom panels overlap the top ones, like on the lvc 37's and FW42's shown." So the yoke: 1937- right over left 1941- top over bottom 1942- back to standard from then on bottom over top and left over right. Easy.. just get within earshot of the bow bells of st. mary's.. dig a big hole, cover it with leaves, carefully place a pair of Ande Whall's in the center and just wait.. once he takes the bait.. don't let him out till he pays up.8 points

Well maybe tomorrow I'll do a little update on the 1936-1942 era 501XX which may help me get it all straight in my head too 😅4 points

... and me too! Well, for now at least... BNWT too Indeed... ... and any new SC-47s will not have a red tab and will not have arcs So the 'original' SC-47s that have a red tab and arcs are truely a collectible pair eh Not many around either 😉4 points

@indigoeagle haha resident scholar indeed. I have to laugh because some of that info is incorrect now. This is because l am always learning, so more of a pupil still imho 😊4 points

More interesting info from Dr Heech: "Well from 1936 the back pocket rivets were covered and the tab was introduced. The jeans were given the lot number 501XXC. Some pairs made in 1936 had machine pressed suspender buttons, probably customer led requests. In 1937 the first 501xx with a pocket flasher was introduced, informing customers about the non scratch 'concealed copper' rivets still being there albeit hidden. Around 1939/1940 the yoke construction on the back of the jeans was reversed. Around 1941 a black buckle replaced the standard copper/silver one. Black stitching was used to sew the waistband on the 501 sometimes in the early 1940s, just before America's involvement in the war. In April (I think?) of 1942, the second pocket flasher was introduced informing customers about the non scratch 'concealed pocket' rivets still being there on this, the last 501 with a cinch strap before the war. Copper had stopped being used on this model. The most important feature though is the reversal of the back yoke seam construction becoming the standard just before the first war model in December 1942 (S501XX)."4 points

I have quite a few pairs of Warehouse and Freewheelers, size 34 waist. Most of it new with tags and 0.99 starting bid. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?sid=theblankenships1&_pgn=1&isRefine=true&_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l494963 points

That's kinda just the fit. You'll notice less of it as they break in and form creases in that area. Photos can be weird, when you're wearing them and moving around, no one will really see that. If you really want to avoid that, you'd have to size down for less room in that area, which wouldn't necessarily be a better fit overall.3 points

Seeing the Lot numbers: SC49001 (1945) ... ... ... SC49005 (1942) ... SC14007 (1946 jacket) SC49007 (1946) SC19008 (1943 jacket) SC49009 (1943) SC19010 (1945 jacket) We might be in for some additional releases. There won't be any new models this year from what I heard but next year(s) could be possible. We certainly miss a 1944 model and maybe 1941? Or also maybe a 1947 version of the Super Denim Collectibles?3 points

No, they ship internationally; I’ve ordered from them a couple of times and it’s never been any trouble.2 points

I, too, will size up on the next pair of 50s (currently 32, might be 33 or 34, depending). They give a better fit and look a little more as intended when sized up.2 points

A few things, kinda in between size 34 and 36 in warehouse and some freewheelers. Preferring looser fit or oversized lately. All I’ve worn lately is sugar cane 1947 or full count 0105ss. Both way more comfortable than any warehouse I’ve ever had. In general I’m just sick of buying and hoarding and collecting. Still have probably more than I can ever wear. Will continue to get rid of stuff over the next few months when I have time to go through it.1 point

The fit of the 50s just get better after a wash. I know they are one wash but they will shrink a bit more if you wash the again. The bagginess around the crotch gets better too.1 point

I considered that would be equitable... but how would I track him down to collect my dues... there are no pics to say 'have you seen this man' as I scour London town shouting Maynard... 😉1 point

Yes b_F, there seems to be a trend. What will the mythical SC49003 be? I admit to being a sucker for this series, but sometimes I wonder what's gotten into me (denim derangement syndrome, bird flu?). The video (for example) is funny -- feeling the denim with reverence and closed eyes. And, wait, is that a black thread with the orange and yellow threads??1 point

They really always put out the best samplers & mixtapes The “Stones Throw 101” double feature from ca. 2004 (maybe emceed by Peanut Butter Wolf??) in particular has been a long-time favorite; some of the Madlib mixes on there are head & shoulders above the official album versions…plus my home town gets a little shout out1 point

I had been wanting to get a randall for some time. Waited to the last couple weeks of summer to pressure me into it. Just enough sun to get it to a nice warm color. One hell of a jacket. Day 1: The branding scar: You can see there was a bit of a drizzle so I gave it a water treatment to prevent spots after about 1 week Then we had one scorcher of a day which made a noticeable change: Then another hot day: by this point it got to be a mindless daily meditation of putting it outside and turning it every couple hours. After another week or so I oiled it with Pecards antique: Drying in the sun: at this point I had maybe 12 days of sun on it and had about 1-2 days of questionable weather before it looked like fall was switching on. So this is just about where we are for this year. Gonna wear the shit out of it and see what we can do next summer.1 point
