I had been wanting to get a randall for some time. Waited to the last couple weeks of summer to pressure me into it. Just enough sun to get it to a nice warm color. One hell of a jacket. Day 1: The branding scar: You can see there was a bit of a drizzle so I gave it a water treatment to prevent spots after about 1 week Then we had one scorcher of a day which made a noticeable change: Then another hot day: by this point it got to be a mindless daily meditation of putting it outside and turning it every couple hours. After another week or so I oiled it with Pecards antique: Drying in the sun: at this point I had maybe 12 days of sun on it and had about 1-2 days of questionable weather before it looked like fall was switching on. So this is just about where we are for this year. Gonna wear the shit out of it and see what we can do next summer.23 points

I just finished rebuilding & modifying my 2000 Kawasaki W650 that I’ve had for a few years… it was a lot of work and money put into it, and I’m really proud of the result. I rebuilt and upgraded the front and rear suspension, adding 1” of length to the rear shocks and balancing it out with a 1” raised custom triple clamp. Rewired the whole bike with a Motogadget solid state control unit and an Ignitech ignition, and mounted a motogadget gauge into the original headlight housing. Cut and rebuilt the fenders, built a custom battery box, replaced the stock CV carbs with Keihin CR Special flat-slides, wired new controls for the handlebars, and replaced pretty much all the other consumable parts on the bike. I was planning on riding this bike to South America but haven’t really gotten to test it enough to really know how it will do on long off-road trails, at altitude, etc., so am taking my old dr650 instead. But I can’t wait to take this out riding again whenever im back in the states!19 points

I got a new pair of size 2 132s a few months back, and after much careful deliberation decided they’re going to be the only pair of jeans im bringing with me to south america. Funnily enough, I brought my first 132s (also size 2) along to Ecuador almost 10 years ago, and though the fabric was great for the work I was doing, I always felt like I was swimming in them. I’m still within 5 pounds of what I weighed then, but somehow this new pair feels much better, almost an ideal cut for the style I like to wear now. But I ended up doing a few modifications for the trip: First, I added suspender buttons.. I made some leather suspenders earlier in the year and wore them exclusively with these pants, mainly cause the waist was still too big. Debating on keeping the buttons on because the waist issue was solved more recently. A couple months back, I darted the waist, about 2cm on each side. Not professional at all, lol, but it did make a huge difference in the fit and allows me to wear them without suspenders or a belt. Then I made some belt loops to replace the ones I removed in order to fit the suspender buttons. Then today, I decided I’d give them a hem, and use the leftover material to add a proper back pocket for my wallet. The drivers’ pockets are great and very comfortable to use, but their size and location further down my thigh, as opposed to against my butt, makes them much looser and less secure, so I’d rather not keep anything valuable in them. This new pocket is just a cut from the hem scrap hand stitched and “riveted” with some Chicago screws (wish I had copper ones to match!). Here’s the final product all together: I’m excited to wear these in on this trip; they’ll be tucked into motorcycle boots a lot so will hopefully get some interesting fades. Thanks for looking!16 points

Think I'm actually going to take a whopping 2 to 3 inches off, they've been washed twice but they're still measuring 33 in. on the inseam. I've been enjoying my OAs which were hemmed to 31, but the rise on the '42s is much higher so I think going a little shorter on the inseam length might make more sense. I always have a hard time figuring out my inseam length even after all these years.4 points

Hi @jeash90 sorry for the delay I've been on holiday this week! They are indeed great, I've worn them just about every day since I got them and I am very much enjoying them. So I bought these one-washed direct from Warehouse, so I can't comment on the initial shrinkage - I did note though that when I received them Warehouse's description on first wash shrinkage was accurate. Here's some measurements for you - the first number is the Warehouse measurement minus what they've suggested for shrinkage in each measurement, and the second measurement is the one I've just taken now, having washed them 1 week ago and worn them every day since (so I would guess that they've stretched out in every dimension as much as they're going to - I've mountain biked, hiked, barbecued etc in them this week) [L32 / Size34] Waist (W) - 83cm // 82cm Thigh (T) - 31cm // 32cm Front rise (F) - 30.5cm // 32cm Back rise (B) - 42cm // 42cm Hem width (O) - 21.5cm // 22cm Not bothered with the inseam as I had Warehouse hem them before sending. PS. If buying direct from Warehouse is an option, my experience buying one-washed and their in-house hem was a very good one - I'll share some photos of how they're looking soon, probably after their next wash!3 points

The S601xx is definitely a bit more trim in the top block compared to other FW models.2 points

I will say that personally I have worn the 22,37, 43, 47, wwii s601. I find the s601 rise to “feel” the highest to me and also somewhat more trim in the top block of that makes sense?2 points

Back on pg5 and pg6 of this thread there is a discussion regarding a racist caricature on the Groovers patch (we don't need to have that discussion again) by the time i came to this thread c2008/09 the links were already bust.. Back in my early days of sufu, i used this thread all the time for searching source material on Yahoo, GeoCity, Live Outdoor and such.. even though i searched for Groovers 100s of times just out of curiosity, i never actually found a pair until now.. the patch is pretty damn offensive so i'm not posting images but i have posted links.. wtf!! Coming from the market in Bursa. Tired face, vacation beard and old milk records hat. Linen longsleeve/tad tight. 90s Canes 37s, forgot the model number. late night snacking on the bounty. Mandarins are sometimes ripe when the skin is still green, as I've learnt. Same goes for oranges in some cases. This should be an early variety of satsuma.2 points

Old Nigel Cabourn joints, got them on sale from Speedway in maybe 2018 Really like the discoloration of the canvas at high-sweat points, and the way the tongue has held creases and the laces have worn through the taping2 points

I'd say both, but keep in mind "trim" when speaking about the 601xx isn't really that trim in the grand scheme of things compared to other brands.1 point

Anyone here have ever tried Valsport sneakers from Italy? If so curious if you have any sizing recommendations, really like this colorway and would go nicely with the Italian made WoM jeans.1 point

I don't own the '47s so can't compare directly, but they are a tad higher than the S601xx WWII.1 point
-
Is the rise higher than on the 47s? I find that pretty high already. 51s I find a little low and ww2 just about right.1 point
-
Maybe y'all are right and I'll chop them off another inch or so. My OAs are hemmed about an inch shorter and I like wearing them at that length a lot more.1 point

It’s good to be young, and naive. I missed all the fuzz on db, I was always intimidated by sufu somehow. Thought it was a big, opinionated , crowd. its good to be here now, still young and naive1 point

Many thanks for this, those Tshirts were indeed by Dorrit Dekk, an old family friend who died in 2014, a few years after doing the drawings for me. They were based on descriptions in Jorge Luis Borges' Book of Imaginary Beings. I have the originals, and when I was packing up the studio a few weeks ago I found some of the original set of Tshirts, I'll reexamine and may get them up on the Stores when we reopen (feel free to email me if you'd like more information). Dorrit drew these particular illustrations for these Tshirts, specially, so there aren't any prints available. I also did a series of mugs, which were really nice. Here are a few photos:1 point
