  26. I heard back from Ryo at TCB. Looks like they have a model in mind and are aiming for the summer! Relevant email bits from Ryo: Also many thanks for your suggestions! I will discuss it with Hajime but we actually have some new model in mind to do a fade contest with in our mind, which many vintage jeans lovers would love for sure. We aim to release it in this summer...The release date might be delayed or get earlier but we would like to hold a fade contest for sure with the new model! Sorry to potentially cut any discussion in this thread short, but I'm also hopeful the new model will be roomy!

  28. Good Afternoon Long-time lurker here that just dove back into the denim game. I haven't bought a pair of denim in a few years and wanted to dive back in with japanese denim. Over the last couple years I've been slowly transitioning out of slim fit mindset and into regular straight leg pants/denim. This lead me back here to learn/relearn these brands/models etc.. I had narrowed down my choices to the Warehouse 1001xx, Denime 220a XX, and Resolute 714. After a lot of back and forth I decided on the 220 and I'm glad I did! After reading through this thread about sizing and shrinkage. I decided on the 34x36. I received my pair from Japan after about 8 days from a shop I found on Rakuten Market. I received my pair and did a 45 minutes cold water soak, then let the jeans dry and followed up with a cold wash on delicate. Some fit pics below (first 3 are raw fitting and the last are after a soak and wash). Along with measurements. 34w x 36 Raw / Soak / One Wash Waist: 17.5" / 17" / 16.75 Front Rise: 13" / 12.75" / 12.5" Back Rise: 17.75" / 17" / 16.5" Thigh: 13" / 12.75" / 12.25" Knee: 10" / 9.5" / 9.25" Leg Opening: 9" / 8.75" / 8.5" Inseam: 35" / 33" / 32" These are coming along great and the fit feels amazing. There's also some room for some shrinkage, which I assume will happen on the second wash. I'm going to wait until after the second wash to get these hemmed.

  29. My 130 after a wash to follow @bartlebyyphonics. I must have had to re-stitch almost every stitch in the top block and back pockets but all good. Next to re-attach the one hanging belt loop.

  30. Left S601XX Right 601XX 1947 Top: FW pocket tee. Size XXL adjust shape from square to human again. The guy hemming my 47s made a mistake and cut two inches off instead of 2cm. Tried to save them by going for a really thin cuff. Should’ve just worn them uncuffed in hindsight. I feel they’re just a bit too short. Great cut. Will get again in future.

  31. Here are the numbers on my size 34: Pre-wash: Waist: 18" / 46 cm Front rise: 13.5" / 34 cm Rear rise: 17.75" / 45 cm Hip (7.5 cm up from crotch seam): 24" / 61 cm Thigh: 13.5" / 34 cm Mid-thigh (10 cm below crotch seam): 11.75" / 30 cm Knee (34 cm below crotch seam): 10" / 25 cm Hem: 9.25" / 23.5 cm Inseam: 35.5 in / 90 cm Post-wash (40 °C, delicate cycle, no spin, no detergent, sun-dried outside) Waist: 17.5" / 44 cm Front rise: 13" / 33 cm Rear rise: 17" / 43 cm Hip (7.5 cm up from crotch seam): 23" / 58.5 cm Thigh: 12.75" / 32.5 cm Mid-thigh (10 cm below crotch seam): 11.25" / 28.5 cm Knee (34 cm below crotch seam): 9.5" / 24 cm Hem: 8.75" / 22.5 cm Inseam: 34.5" / 87 cm They shrank about 4% in most dimensions, which is less than I anticipated. However, they fit pretty well right now so I'll probably wear them as is for the time being. I feel sure they will shrink more in subsequent washes, particularly the inseam. Here are a few more pics for fun. Fit shot will have to wait till tomorrow when I have my tripod.

  34. @ChemProfJSpencer Cone Mills made the denim for levis 501xx exclusively from 1922 onwards. The Cone denim used back then had a lot more character, such as your neppy feel with slubs and loom chatter. The denim changed three times, once in the mid 1950s (a lighter blue dye it seems), mid 70's (sulphur dye technique was briefly introduced) and again in 1984 when the selvedge disappeared and the denim became more fluffier/bulkier, but had pretty much lost all that character by then. (As for the denim being a flaw, l've not seen evidence to support it). The introduction of repros from the mid 1990s aimed to rectify that, trying to get denim made that replicated that character. And here we are 30 odd years later with an array of manufacturers and different denims doing just that! Hope that helps?
