The little satchel / purse from a few years ago remains one of my all-time favorite items of any category (likely above most of my clothes and boots, even); it’s with me all the time Had to do a first round of repairs, recently. Some holes were forming around the bottom so I patched it up with some of the canvas leftover from hemming my older pair of Roy’s Foreman pants There was some really nice lighting today so I took a few photos. I love how many different colors are present in different areas of the bag from different sorts of wear (sun, abrasion, indigo crocking…)21 points

@Alec Leamas here are my DSB 1000XX, after 3 years... I haven't worn them that much latley as I have other pairs in my rotation now. The front pockets are falling apart inside, but otherwise they are holding up pretty good, they been repaired a couple of times. The most irritating repair was that the seam in the crutch broke after 1 month of wear...16 points

Drove down to see the eclipse in totality in Salem, Indiana last week before adventuring in the Great Smoky Mountains for a few days. Any pictures you have seen do not do this celestial event justice. If you ever get the chance to see it take it. My camera could not capture it at all but my gods it was fucking spectacular. But I did manage to get a few fit pics. *Big hat *Thrashed bandana bolo *Orphan vest *Levi's LVC "What are Stars" tee *Vintage tea core belt *Turquoise pin *Mister Freedom Outlaw double black *Vintage Sears/ACME Thunderbird Cowboy boots Best I could do with my shite phone. The below shots were taken just minutes apart. Animals got weird. Temperature dropped. Street lights came on. The stars came out. You could hear a pin drop among the people crying and whispering. Her face says it all. Not my photos but this is pretty close to what we saw. Mind blown.13 points

I finally found an Orrizonti era WWII pair. Denim has a completely different weight and feel from 66 and XX. Curious what you know of this pair BF. Awesome details, wonky pocket shape with my dream of a shorter rise to round out a perfect-for-me 40s fit. And yes there is a bit of aging on the denim from sun and rubbing on creases.13 points

Went to a vintage fest and antique store with my girlfriend today. Got his n hers garfield keychains, a cool puffer vest, a flick tricks for my friend who grew up on a bmx bike, and also found my favorite hot wheel from my childhood still boxed up with the hauler I never knew it came with. Also saw a few cool ratty lookin vans. Good day.10 points

Had no idea there was so much disdain for ONI! Just read some of the comments on the other page. I had a few pairs 6 or 7 years ago. Prior to that I’d been wearing mainly repro stuff so at the time, the heavyweight and loose weave fabrics appealed as a slightly different option. Back to wearing repro now but still got a few pairs of ONI in the closet. I agree the fits aren’t amazing, but I do think some of their denims are pretty nice regardless of how old the guy weaving it really is. Heres a few pics of mine over the years. As a biker, the 22oz natural indigo was a good winter jean and the Secret Denim is by far the softest heavyweight denim I’ve had.6 points

With the recent chat about ONI in the Unknown Japanese Brands thread, I thought I’d post these deadstock Oni Reds for sale on Yahoo auctions. I think they’re the ones that BiG used to sell about 15 years ago, alongside the Blues (both now discontinued) and are a wider, vintage cut, unlike most of their modern offerings. They may interest someone on here.6 points

Apparently, Superdry isn’t as cool as it used to be although I don’t know when that was anyway 🤣5 points

I support this decision. You’ll never again be this young with this much time off from work. Take the opportunity and go! It might cost a bit to get there, but the weak Yen will make things affordable once you arrive. I’ll bet Hoosiers would welcome a visit if you made it to Kyoto. It would definitely be the trip of a lifetime.5 points

It seems to me that it is. I have a j1a 2.5 that I always took perfect care of it. Never bare skin, never in bad environment, always nikwash, always in the closet when off season, you name it... Still it got some delamination on the collar, okay not visible, in a folding part, I thought... then I wore it only a couple of time in the last season, because of good weather, then "okay, I clean it, put in closet". Nikwash at 40 degrees, then dry to fix the TX waterproof and it came out fully delaminated. After that I said goodbye to GTX products, especially considering that I have older schoeller and Stone Island textiles that are still in perfect condition and fully waterproof.4 points

I've been tossing around the idea of a last minute solo trip to Japan, not sure if it's the best financial decision ever but would be the trip of a lifetime...4 points

Damn, you are right! Didn't check my Tokyo model. So it's still some kind of detail for special models. The leather of the patch also seems to be different to the standard models. But no idea what animal it is from. Measurements: W36 Waist: 36.5" Front rise: 12" Back rise: 16" Thighs: 14" Knee: 9.5" Leg opening: 9" Inseam: 35.75"3 points

The following models have the thin X on the patch according to photos in that Lightning Denim Book. There may be others but the photos are too small to tell: Tokyo Kyoto 1988E new 505 new WW2 15th anniversary 6063 points

Great pick up @Graytrain! The sun fades just add to the character. There are floating w30 and w31 around on Yahoo but not many in a good condition (although I think there's a W31 one-wash for 50k available right now...) As you probably know, there is not much info around. The denim is different to the XX and 66 denim. It is lighter, I think 13.5oz or so. And it will fade more into a lighter blue. Not as white/grey like Denime usually does. Edit: it was a W30. Here it is https://www.fromjapan.co.jp/japan/en/auction/yahoo/input/b1132290997/3 points

Be aware that Golden week is 29th April - 5th of May this year, just in case you thought of going later. All of Japan will be on holiday and on the move, making accommodation much scarcer/ costly.3 points

I got made redundant about 6 months ago after 20+ years at the same company (I've got a new job, start next week) and the downtime between roles has been great! I had to make a rule of no PlayStation till after 2pm though or I'd still be in my dressing gown playing games on the sofa when the wife got in from work!3 points

Hope y'all have been doing well, been a bit busy lately as I was interviewing and landed a new job! I turned in my notice last week and my boss (of almost 6 years) told me to hit the road so now I've got a bunch of time on my hands until my start date. Any hobbies I should pick up in the next month?3 points

Some Levi's LVC cone 501zxx and hemp blend 501 Regular 501 stf and 501xx stf Selvedge 514 ^Back of the selvedge on the hemp pair that I thought was a little interesting Cone 501z are like 10 years old but haven't gotten around to them until recently. Hemp Pair is from October. STFs are a ~10' pair and a ~00' pair. 514 are probably like 12 years old and even with many, many washes the denim still looks raw in its darkest spots.3 points

SOA03XXD-0823 pre-ordered from Barnstormer at the end of October 2023. The parcel eventually arrived, at the end of March. The jeans look a little different to the previous OA models. Waiting for the rainy weather to end so I can soak them and dry on the yard. Will probably wash at low temperature after that, the look and feel is tough.3 points
