  4. Drove down to see the eclipse in totality in Salem, Indiana last week before adventuring in the Great Smoky Mountains for a few days. Any pictures you have seen do not do this celestial event justice. If you ever get the chance to see it take it. My camera could not capture it at all but my gods it was fucking spectacular. But I did manage to get a few fit pics. *Big hat *Thrashed bandana bolo *Orphan vest *Levi's LVC "What are Stars" tee *Vintage tea core belt *Turquoise pin *Mister Freedom Outlaw double black *Vintage Sears/ACME Thunderbird Cowboy boots Best I could do with my shite phone. The below shots were taken just minutes apart. Animals got weird. Temperature dropped. Street lights came on. The stars came out. You could hear a pin drop among the people crying and whispering. Her face says it all. Not my photos but this is pretty close to what we saw. Mind blown.

  8. The little satchel / purse from a few years ago remains one of my all-time favorite items of any category (likely above most of my clothes and boots, even); it’s with me all the time Had to do a first round of repairs, recently. Some holes were forming around the bottom so I patched it up with some of the canvas leftover from hemming my older pair of Roy’s Foreman pants There was some really nice lighting today so I took a few photos. I love how many different colors are present in different areas of the bag from different sorts of wear (sun, abrasion, indigo crocking…)

  12. “Selection” is maybe the limiting criterion. Lots of brands seem to do one or two okay women’s cuts, these days, but no one seems to have more than a couple of options. Meanwhile, obviously all jeans are more or less gender agnostic in principle, but how well they work in practice depends completely on body type. Around how is your partner shaped? If they’re big in the hips and don’t fit well into standard men’s jeans, the TCB Norma could be a really good option; I’ve also seen curvier women friends make ‘90s Cane’s work well.

  13. @81FXR I think LVC are running the 701 at the moment: https://www.levi.com/US/en_US/levis-vintage-clothing/levis-vintage-clothing-for-women/1950s-701-womens-jeans/p/507010036 edit: actually, looking at the silhouette pictures of these, they don’t fit the bill - look very tapered which I wouldn’t expect from a 50s model (but I’m no expert on women’s fits).

  14. Railcar makes women’s, but I’m not sure about their current offerings. so does Raleigh Denim, but they’re comically overpriced even as they’re quite well made. Honestly I’d try a pair of fullcount 0105s - I’ve thought about getting a pair for my wife.

  20. Not too often I've a record of myself made by someone else but my friend got me over the weekend in a FW Tux. jacket is the s516xx and 601 1951's I just posted in the FW thread.

  21. S601xx 1951 with probably about 6-7 months of real wear. Didn’t wash until about 3-4 months, quite frequently after that. I think this is a better denim to wash a lot. Not the one you want for really defined fades (good with me!). The puckering one the yoke is my favorite probably.

  23. Some Levi's LVC cone 501zxx and hemp blend 501 Regular 501 stf and 501xx stf Selvedge 514 ^Back of the selvedge on the hemp pair that I thought was a little interesting Cone 501z are like 10 years old but haven't gotten around to them until recently. Hemp Pair is from October. STFs are a ~10' pair and a ~00' pair. 514 are probably like 12 years old and even with many, many washes the denim still looks raw in its darkest spots.

  26. 1937 jeans... been wearing most weekdays for months... steady progress though I think reasonably stubborn (will take some pics of the 33 jacket and 22 jacket for comparison soon) Plan is to hang on until the summer then wash Really like both the fit and the denim

  30. I definitely sized up in these, maybe too much. This is the them after the 2nd hot wash, it was on the hottest setting and I’m much happier now as they were still looking clownish.

  34. Agreed and it can get expensive very fast! Because you want to try a new way of washing, a new way of wearing, a new size or different denim in every new pair! Never truly satisfied, you start looking for the next pair soon enough. Similar to the saying for cameras: ”the best camera is the one in your hand” is probably true for jeans as well, that the best pair are the ones you’re wearing.
