Maybe the large amount of different offerings has to do with their 40th anniversary? Some kind of midlifecrisis crisis. I agree, those offerings with different kinds of denim in one piece of clothing are too much. On the other hand, I’m really happy with those fox denim offerings

Holy shit, a WS-J1A actually came to market... https://www.grailed.com/listings/9429811-Acronym-FW05-06-WS-J1A-Interops-Gore-Jacket ...and needless to say, left pretty much immediately.

    Naked & Famous Denim

I tried contacting them and haven't got an email back but I did some more research and there are definately many more like mine out there and the quality is definately good. I just wanted to share I got this for a steal. I found it in dingy vintage store in a pile of jeans for $20. It was my exact size, tapered to exactly how I like it, softened and worn very nicely. Who needs stretchy fast fashion! Haha

My understanding is that the 1978 were a lower-rise version of the 1976 (possibly more tapered) but use the same denim.

Thanks @maharu, seems like they come up quite slim.

@Broark funny you should bring up Freenote, as I've meaning to ask about opinions of some USA brands, including FN. I don't have any first hand experience with any of them, but for some reason FN seams more appealing than some of the others. And for similar unknown reasons, RgT and Tellason are very unappealing to me. Can't really say why...

Hi! Never owned the 1962 551z, but had a pair of 1978 501 a while back. Sold them since I never got used to the fit, don't know what it was. Probably a short back rise combined with small back pockets. Sadly I couldn't find all measurements, but still have these. These measurements are from the pair when it had been worn for maybe a week after a wash. I remember the waist stretching out easily. Waist 42 cm Hips measured straight across from the bottom of the arcs 55 cm Thigh 30,5 cm Hem 19 cm Sorry for low quality pics.

I got the 60's jeans in raw. All of my buttons were rusty after the first soak. It's weird that only one of yours is rusted, but maybe they try to clean up the buttons on one wash items and just missed one.

Next they'll be keeping their NGs pulled up and not removing their hats.

What's the general consensus on the 1978 501 and the 1962 551z? Anybody got experience with them and/or would like to share measurements?

just received my 50s jacket in OW, size 42. fits well, although the sleeves are a hair longer than i would like. probably the first time i've experienced this issue with japanese garments. i assume it's from the wash process, but all of my buttons look pristine with the exception of one which is super rusty. did anyone else's arrive like this?

I’d say they tapered them very gradually from the mid/lower thigh to the hem on the inseam only. This avoids a sharp taper that might interrupt the flow of the leg I think. I asked for an 8” hem but they are probably 7 3/4”. I used a pair of Ande Whall Buffalo as the target silhouette.

Are these the ones you had tapered? If so was it full leg or from knee? I’m thinking of getting mine down to an 8” hem from nearly 10” they are now

The easiest solution would be to contact N&F and ask them about the buttons on your pair. Either their buttons have always been branded or they weren’t at some point

Not going to lie, I’m kinda into this Freenote bleached western. Not a brand that’s really done it for me before to be honest.

    Sugar Cane Denim

^ Someone like Kiya would be able to say with more certainty, but based on frequency of restocks it seems like the Okinawa sells a lot more than the Hawaii in general. More jeans floating around means more on the secondhand market—simple as that. (Yeah, I've noticed the same thing.)
  27. I also second Sugar Cane. TCB 50s are a great jean as well.
