i like these japanese repros for their nice leather patches, which always looked more authentic to me than the ones of US repros.

I don't think anyone here was saying/implying you were lying @cameosis. It just sounded a little off compared to other tanneries (besides Horween and Shinki Clayton and Comipel was near the same price range. Don't know what Rocinante, Argentina tannery, sell theirs.) That being said, with more research the 40 euros is pretty close to what Rocado, an Italian tannery, is offering theirs directly on their site ($66/sq ft) which if you were on good relations or bought a significant portion would probably bring it down further.

Can anyone with the 601XX 1951 comment on the size of the pocket openings? How big are they/ease of use?

Bobbo, It sounds like we can add about 4cm to these numbers for stretch. So a size 35's post wash waist of 42cm as above (16.5" or 33" overall) will stretch to about 46cm (34.5"). And when you say the 'waist is measured flat', you mean the BIG method (i.e., laying the jeans fly up and measuring across the top), right? John

Fair enough and my apologies if you feel offended. The blog author Vegtan archives many articles and surely very informative. As said before, I have never heard of 40 euro sq.ft. That was the point. 105 euro that you linked is very good! Thanks for the website! And as you said in point c), I am just a customer and I can only say the retail price from the customers point of view. edit: Thanks to ALB, $66 is definitely competitive! answer to the add-on: No, I only asked to two as it was considered the only tanneries handle cordovan. At the same time, I have talked to the owner of the F.E.W (leather jacket/products company at NewZealand) and he said the same about the cordovan. I actually have not asked to Shinki and Horween about other tanneries.

Thank you @Maynard Friedman and @beautiful_FrEaK That confirmation just sends chills up & down my spine. The 1937 is my favorite cut. Maybe I will just find a free-standing glass display and place these as the focal point of my home. Hermetically sealed and UV glass, ofcourse.

@maharu If I go by how much the first sample stretched (4 cm-isch) 33 could probably work, though it will put more strain on the jeans. I'd say it depends on how slim you want your jeans. @Babaron Welcome to Sufu! What a great way to kick it off! About the contest prizes, all the details are not 100 % yet, but the winner will get a pair of Denimbridge jeans and also a prize from the boys at Göteborg Manufaktur. So definitely a good haul for the winner! How long do you guys think we should run the contest? The usual 18 months? And are you guys OK to let the Japanese dudes and instagrammers in on it like with the TCB contest? I think that would be fun. Bonus denim pics:

That looks like LVC Japan from April 2006, although it doesn’t say ‘Made in Japan’ in English (it may do in Japanese but I have no idea).

Thankyou PaulT. This is the only sewn-in tag and I see no trace of any others tags being removed. 1) Front of tag 2) Back of tag 3) Pocket rivet 4) Back of top button There are no numbers or letters stamped on the back of the top button.

    These cutz don't heal

I still go back to my 501s as far as fit and function. I like the high rise with a slight taper, just enough to go over my boots. Also, the fly is my favorite. Idk if it’s just Levi’s wonky QC, but the extra length below the last button really does it for me. My TCB 50s have a five button fly and I get annoyed with the lowest button, like it doesn’t need to be there really. And going with the TCBs, I like the back pocket placement, a little further apart then my standard Levi’s. With back pockets my Norman Porters are my favorite. They’re big enough to hold my bill length wallet without half of it sticking out. The NPs probably have my favorite front pocket material as well. The only thing I’ve never been able to figure on cuts is getting a high enough rise with slim hips and slightly looser thighs. All that said, I can’t seem to stop wearing my warehouse 900xx even though I sized up to get at least a 10” rise and 7” hem. They’re just really nice and comfortable with the exception of the loose waist, hips and diaper butt I get.
