Not really I’m afraid, the single pocket and exposed back rivets simply mean they’re not my cup of tea. However they’re lightweight (therefore ideal for summer) and the denim is an attractive shade so if that’s your thing then I say get them. just realised today is the last day of ‘501 Day’ - all 501s, including LVC models are 20% off on the Levi’s online store in the UK, not sure if this applies elsewhere.

@Maynard Friedman 1976 it is then. do you have any opinion on the 1890?

@Maynard Friedman I’m seriously thinking of 76 now since there seems to be a lot of love for it here

@bartlebyyphonics thanks for the info on your experiences with various LVC I’m tipping myself towards 1890 just because it seems nice and loose for everyday wear in hot humid Thailand. But the 1970 that everyone seems to rave about around here is tempting too. Might just need to collect them all! Re Boncoura thanks man, i really enjoying wearing it too. I got the XX and the 66 ecru version and both are gorgeous pair. Thinking about the cinch back but will probably buy LVC first just Incase the stock actually ran out. The big type tumble drying machine that you can find in the launderette is supposed to give the jeans a better railing fade apparently from reading on Japanese blog and Thai LVC Facebook group

It was the Union Square store. No great shakes when I visited in 2008, but they did have the old soaking tub (albeit cordoned off for reno), and thanks to a fantastic sales associate, I found a cheap pair of LVC ‘55 that was my gateway into the madness. In 2011 though, the whole basement was set up for vintage clothes, custom/repair shop and a full LVC setup; it was a marvel. No idea what the story is now, eight years later. Frozen in time for me!

I thought I’d chime in with a quick review of the F1-T-B. I’ve been wearing these daily since I got them and so far, I love them. I went with the B variation because for me, they were the most appealing. I do agree with the earlier reviews that they are heavy, but it doesn’t really bother me. I adjusted the side arms and nose pads to my liking, which helps keep the glasses in place. The build quality is very good. In comparison, I own a range of sunglasses from Ray Ban, Adidas (Made in Austria), Neighborhood, VISVIM, and Louis Vuitton. I feel like these are more on par with VISVIM in terms of build quality. I’ve worn mine in the sun and the spill of light through the clip-on lenses did not bother me. In the rain, I took the clip-ons off and used just the yellow tinted lenses. I felt like I was able to see far better wearing these during a typical rainy Vancouver afternoon/evening. It was a pleasant surprise to say the least Maybe I’m not as critical as the others here who commented on their sunglasses but I feel like these are a great pair of regular clip on sunglasses, albeit slightly overpriced. The only thing that really annoys me is that I need to clean off finger prints twice as often as my other sunglasses. Ok one other gripe I had was that the cleaning cloth they threw in felt badly cut. It was like someone took a dull pair of scissors and unevenly cut out a square. I can’t see too many folks buying and keeping these unless they are die hard Acronym fans. For me, I’m very happy I grabbed a pair. Cheers!!!

I bought them from 2nd Japan, but they should be all the same. I scored one of the older models, from 2014 I believe, so they were even cheaper.

Thanks guys! @SmokeStackLightning what is the difference between the 3005 and 3005-s? Which version do you have? @somatoform thanks, those are more of the thigh measurements I was hoping for. Where'd you get those, over here or Japan? I want to make sure I find the cut with the most room in the thighs.

For what it’s worth, I have the 3009, and the 3005 which I wear a size 36 in and they’re perfect. I also had a pair of flat head 2111’s once upon a time (not into heavy weight denim anymore) and they were size 34. In Roy’s or iron hearts I’m a size 34 as well. My natural waist is probably between a 34-36 depending on how poorly I ate that week lol. I would say you’re better off taking the bigger size in the pioneer denim.

Generally speaking I wouldn’t think the one ounce would help much but i’ve read that the banner denim wears pretty light, maybe a bit of a looser weave.

That's good to know. I've been wanting to get a 3009 for literally years now, and have wondered about sizing and shrinking. I have the 3202 20oz denim in a 34 - the waist is a bit big but the thighs are snug. Different cut, I know... not sure if I'd get a 33 or 34 in 3009.
