on the plus side: it seems like the jackets (1880, type 1&2) seem all to be still cone for this season, and the sunset chambray 1920s pullover shirt is no longer quite so eye-watering in price

this is what I am seeing for the details on the two rigid versions of the '55 on uk site - which I think is prob. best seller after the '47 (ambiguity at its best - sorry if I am missing a drop down somewhere...)

If you look in the ‘Details’ section of the Rigid/Dark Wash/Dark Blue LVC jeans, it will state either: Made with denim from Cone Mills of North Carolina, a proud Levi's® partner for over 100 years OR Made from rigid and durable selvedge denim, which has been indigo-dyed

From the pics it looks like the P31 is sort of a child of the P24+P15. Really nice.

^ indeed to add to this: there does seem indeed on the UK site a sliding in of 'v2' without proper denomination: i.e. for the '55 - the style 'rigid-blue'; model no: 501550040 - sold out in most popular sizes (guessing this is the cone version, but all mentions of cone removed from blurp....) whereas for another version of 'rigid-blue': model no: 501550055 all sizes ready to go... [i.e. v2] lvc is hoping that i am resting assured that both are 100% cotton and relaxed fit... [on a lot of pairs on the site they seem to be alternating between 'dark blue' / rigid' / 'dark wash'... guessing the option with most unavailable sizes is the cone one...]

BTW, I like Bulgaria. No difference to e.g. made in Italy to me.

I agree, but I wont be the one to let this age. There are obvious differences between the cone denims when raw. I also have a 1976 in storage. This denim looks the same as cone but feels just a little bit softer. Maybe due to different amaounts of starch.

At least they called it V2 on the receipt. I can take some more pics of the other labels tomorrow.

    Roy. (expurgated edition)

I am wrapping up my KS1002/RT1002 rotation soon and have a perhaps overly ambitious plan of comparing 4 pairs of black seed by doing one pair frequent wash and dryer (test lot R01,) one pair my normal routine with initial hot wash to get shrink out and regular cold washes every 3 months or so (regular R01,) one pair with his site instructions 15 minute initial lukewarm soak hand washed sparingly (Test lot 00 pair,) and one worn raw for as long as possible, which I believe is his preference (no pair currently on hand, but hopefully he does another round of the new RT cut)...so check back here in 10 years or so for the results. I definitely respect and understand his appreciation for the properties of unwashed, loom state denim and am looking forward to wearing a pair that way, but I think losing a bit of that in exchange for getting the shrink out of the way up front is reasonable for many people and in no way ruins the jeans from my experience.

do they name it V2? Do we think the new range is all made in Bulgaria? Post us a link please! I would think it's pretty much impossible to see differences in the fabric raw, we'd need to see how it ages to really understand it.

So Levis Germany did send the 1966 V2 ("Rigid") to me anyway. I still have 2 Cone 1966 made in the U.S. of A. with tags attached in storage and compared the new V2 to them. - Denim looks indistinguishable. Maybe a bit softer and less starch on the new one. Not sure if it is shrink 2 fit. - Quality of craftsmaship is the same. - V2 is made in Bulgaria. It is a quality piece but I'll send it back. I originally thought I had ordered one of the last Cone 1966. Waiting for experiences with the new denim.

Well I guess the questions thread is gone, so if anyone can tell me what the buckles on the left of Errolson's 3a-5ts are, I'd be appreciative. They look like compression buckles, but they're all female?

There is absolutely no point to having rivets on 95% of all jeans produced, since a bar tack provides plenty of strength and for casual wear that likely won't ever be an issue anyway. For vintage-inspired ones like we wear, rivets shouldn't be going anywhere though.

That's pretty much the problem with most jeans when you hem them short sadly, regardless of taper. I think when you stack, it gives the visual that the leg opening is smaller so if there is no taper and you hem, and the leg opening is the same, it just feels much wider. I have the same problem on pretty much every pair I've owned. Just one of the those things you got to deal with sadly. I usually just taper.

I actually have these in black - sized up half because I was afraid it would be too snug. Very hefty with the Vibram sole on, and I find that it almost feels like a ski boot when its strapped in, but you could easily loosen it.

Not a bad idea, you could get rid of the patch too, unless it’s doubling up as an additional belt loop (ie functional). They would be a logical evolution of the WW2 model, ie the WW3 model!
  26. The demise of the rivets? CNN article suggests as much to be more environmentally responsible: https://www.cnn.com/style/amp/metal-rivets-in-jeans/index.html

Even after years of wear, i get the same thing. I always put a small no show sock, folded over, inside my sock to stop it rubbing on my ankle.
