How do I not lose my combs while hotsoaking, after i first hotsoaked my nudies, the combs went away and came back, but i also got new combs too, so there are pretty much 2 sets of combs on my jeans and it looks funny.

well, best thing you can do is to hotsoak your jeans before you start wearing them.

you'll have most of the shrinkage out of your way then and the next time you soak the jeans won't shrink anymore/not that much and therefore will keep their fit/combs...

somebody correct me when i'm wrong...

Just got a pair of Samurai SO510XX, tag size is 35 and pre-wash they measure the same. My S5000VX's and 634xx's shrunk down to tag size.

Any ideas on the shrinkage then on the SO510's? Surely they won't stretch back out to a 35" or am I gonna be pleasantly suprised? Or is there a way of minimising shrinkage?

Cheers...

I have a pair of Nudie AJ Dry heavy. The are too big now. Could anybody tell me the best way to shrink them. On mynudies.com they say washing them and puting them in the dryer is the best. but wont that destroy the " magical " process? Should I just soak them in hot water?

Here's what I do…

- First check to see if your shit is sanforized.

- Then throw it in hot wash no soap.

- Then throw that shit in the top hot setting dryer and dry the mo'fo till the rivets are melting.

- Then throw that shit back into a boiling hot soak for 3 hours.

- Then line dry the bitch till that crispyness comes back.

"Magical" process is thus preserved

Right I have a pair of Visvim Fluxus jeans raw indigo. I want to shrink them a little (especially around the ankle - they're bit baggier than I'd like). Do I just have to sit ion the bath for a few hours in hot water?

Any advice would be appreciate - I'm concerned that I may shrink them too much!

Thanks.

just soak them in hot water...and i dont get why everyone keeps asking the same question when the answer is on the same page.

or you can just try and soak the ankle area in hot water.

all of these soaking questions...why? its so simple. sometimes if i walk a long way in the hot, the sweat from my thighs will make the denim shrink. if you wear them long enough, hard enough, they will experience many contractions/expansions...

question bro, im kinda new to superfuture.

so i got a pair of Uniqlo selvage jeans and it was when i didnt know jeans stretch out as you wear them so i got my size in size 32, but now it fits like a 34 but with a belt its fine. i wear them alot now and my honeycombs, whiskers, the fades and all look really nice but the thing is i never soaked them in hot water when i bought them. im afraid that if i soak them they will shrink to my exact size but it will mess up the fades. will it mess up my fades?

and please give me some tips on what to do after the hot soaking of the jeans. thank you so much.

its basically your choice. i don't know much about uniqlo selvage, but if there's shrinkage left, your fades won't align the same. so you can either have baggier, looser fitting jeans that have the same fades, or you can shrink them, get a fit you like, and make new fades. sometimes you just gotta learn the hard way, so next time you spend more money on denim, you'll know to pre-soak your jeans.

Hi.

I got myself a pair of Edwin Rainbow Selvage, but always find the waist on Edwin's to differ from model to model. I got these in my usual waist size (36), but they are half a size too big on the waist. Tried wearing them with a belt, and the top button is folding into itself.

Any tips on how to shrink the waist?

I have been offered the opportunity to take them to a denim specialist in Selfridges for altering, but I want to know of any other options I may have.

Cheers

i got a pair of lvc 501 1954 and they fit great right now. whats the disadvantage of not soaking and wash after maybe 6 months?

if they are unsanforized, which Im pretty sure is the case, they will shrink a fair amount on the first wash and all the fades will line up funny afterwords.

Guest chiquita_chaser

I've been tearing my APC New Standards about three months now, doing construction work, agressive rollerblading, and a lot of fucking around in them. In the beginning they were fitting tight tight tight and I was happy. But they've expanded from 30 to 32 now... Anyway, I'm gonna shrink them.

Does anybody know how they will react? And what is this starch you're all talking about...?

Denim Encyclopedia is the best :)

Especially if you are doing a lot of aggressive rollerblading in them. I do a lot of aggressive razoring in mine and the really stretched out. I could only imagine what aggressive rollerblading would do.

hi everyone! i'd like to buy a basic cheap rigid 501XX. Presently my levi's "preshrunk" size is:

W 27 or 28

L 30 (or less).

am i right if i buy a 29x30?

and which is the best way to shrink a NOT '47 501XX ?

1) wearing them for months and then dipping in very hot water in the bathtube while wearing them

2) wearing for months and then dipping in very hot water in the bathtube while wearing them for many others months/years

3) dipping immediatelty in very hot water wearing them

4) wearing for months and then soaking in whashing machine at highest temperature for 1 h and after that repeating immediately this operation for 2 or 3 times

5) soaking immediatelty in whashing machine at highest temperature for 1 h and then repeat this operation for many others months/years

please help me!! thank you very much! :)

Soak in really cold water and wear them. Regular STFs lose a lot of color with their first wash so you would be best minimizing the color loss with a cold soak.

For regular STF's, definitely cold soak (or luke warm) first. If LVC, then hot is fine as the dye won't come out so fast upon the initial soak.

But wear them while soaking to begin the conformation process while wet. No salt or additives are necessary and I find to be futile.

Then as often recommended, wear wet until dry.

These simple steps will reap two primary rewards:

A.) Perfect shrinkage to your shape right off the bat.

B.) A swift jump start on whiskers, honeycombs and other folds.

You should buy your true size in the waist.

If I were you, I'd by a 27 or 28x32. True to size in the waist to account for stretching. As long as you can button the top button after soaking then you'll be good. Definitely go for the extra couple inches on the inseam.

You'll regret it if you don't. If you buy a tagged 30" inseam you'll end up with a 27-28" inseam and will get no stacking at all unless you're under 5 feet tall.
